I would love to have him, he's an unbelievable talent.

 

I like that he's completing over 70% of his passes. I loves that he's completing passes at such a high % while throwing deep a lot. Those numbers are usually skewed with swing passes and screens but RG# pushes the ball down field. I like that alot.

 

RG3 did not call the wrong number, you just answered the wrong phone.

RG3 does not actually have to eat. Food just uses his body for protection.

RG3 has a grizzly bear carpet in his dorm. The bear isn't actually dead, it is just afraid to move.

When RG3 puts milk on Rice Crispies, they stay quiet.

RG3 doesn't flush the toilet, he scares the s*** out of it.

The only time RG3 has ever been wrong was when he thought he'd made a mistake.

 

RG3 also players tougher opposition than Luck.

RG3 will most likely win the Heisman thus launching him to enter the draft I believe.

Personally I rather have RG3 than Luck

Seriously though, I really like his game.

IDec 29, 31, and January 2nd will be exceedingly important. Definitely can't wait for the combine.

 

IMO the biggest roadblock for drafting him is the teams in front of us, regardless of Barkley.

I dunno about that. They're probably about the same TBH. Then again, I think anything outside the SEC is dog**** in terms of conference talent.

 

I'd be really happy coming out of the draft with either RG3, Barkely or Luck, Tannehill too. We are going to have to be aggressive on draft day if we keep improving our draft position. I do hope it isn't Ireland picking him or Sparano coaching him though, nothing will matter if we don't clean house.

 

Outside of Luck, RG3 is only QB I would want Miami to take if they draft in the top 10 picks. Definitely a bandwagon I would jump on. Throws the best deep ball of all the QBs coming out...including Luck. Would probably beat every QB in a 100 yard dash coming out as well if he was the only one who had to run backwards.

Worth the risk!

sorry, but I'm not drinking the RGIII Kool-Aid yet. Yes, he's very talented, but I'd rather trade multiple picks to get Luck or Barkley than select RGIII with a top 10 pick. Not saying he couldn't be an upgrade over Moore, I just don't see franchise QB with him.

and I want more than a fast QB that throws a great deep ball. That was Vince Young coming out of Texas.

be curious to see if our experts think RGIII can throw the ball as well as Newton and can even come close to his decision making.

 

It's possible he might be black. I mean back. As in returning to school. Meaning we might have no shot at him after a 2012 playoff run when he's the consensus #1 pick if he in deed does go back.

Not a good comparison, I'd be willing to "bet" his wonderlich will be in the top 10% of Qb's coming out this yr, RG3 is a sharp dude.

Concerns:

-style of offense, he has to go to the right team to have success
-he takes home run Shots in the pocket and does not have the build to sustain them
-accuracy, dare I say it, is a bit from the C-Pepe school, he is more accurate on the short stuff and it pumps his numbers a bit.


All in all though, a fine Qb prospect as is coming out this yr, they all have flaws, but his upside is Steve McNair only maybe a bit better.

 

Anyone catch Griffin's interview during the awards ceremony?
Very impressive. What a well-spoken, intelligent, and genuine guy.
Only makes me want to see him Aqua & Orange all the more.

 

As good a prospect as he is, I think he'll move up everyone's board after the individual interviews and workouts. I honestly think we might have to trade up to get him if we are out of the top 5 and it looks like we will be. We are going to have to be aggressive on draft day, if our front office is thinking they'll wait it out at 9 or 10 and hope someone falls we will be left short and hoping to get a 2nd round Qb or trading a lot to get back into the first.

 

I havent really seen much of Griffin. But, I have listened to some of his interviews, and was very impressed with how he articulates himself.

 

Will he still be there when Miami drafts?They may have to trade up if they keep winning.

 

The team needs to make the playoffs next year. I don't see us drafting a developmental Qb. I think we're drafting wide receiver, running back, offensive tackle or pass rushing outside linebacker with the first

 

We don't have a franchise Qb if we aren't taking one early then our front office needs to be fired.

well if ireland stays then miami has to make the playoffs next year for him to keep his job so there is no chance he uses the first for a developmental qb. If we bring in a new regime they are going to want to also put us in the playoffs to prove their worthiness. Add to the fact that moore has proven he is an effective game manager and henne is still improving and there is no way we pick a qb in the first. We are going to pick a player who has immediate impact

 

Of course we'll pick a QB in the first. We basically have Moore and nobody else since Henne is a FA. Henne may come back (or some other vet), but neither he nor Moore are good enough to make a team forego picking a potential franchise guy. They are, however, good enough to to forego throwing the young QB in before he's ready.

As for my list, it currently is Luck, Barkley, RGIII/Weedon, Tannehill. I haven't watched Osweiller so I don't have him in there (if he declares). And Jones is clearly behind the first five in my eyes. I am not among those that believes it is a given that Indy takes Luck as I still think they might trade the pick if Manning is healthy and a good enough offer comes in. It would also help if they fell in love with another QB prospect. I'm worried about Barkley staying in school. I see him as the best fit for Miami. I've been expecting RGIII, Weedon and maybe Tannehill to move up the board. I've also been expecting Jones to drop in most team's eyes. I am hopeful that someone (not Miami) falls in love with Jones' measurables and stats, ignores the decision making questions and takes him way too high.

 

Taking aside my personal feelings on RG3, I don't see Miami going after him.

Disagree all you want but RG3 is an undersized QB that runs around in an offense that depends on the threat of him running the ball in order to create spacing, hesitation and open throwing windows. That's the kind of offense Pat White came out of, and he's not much bigger than Pat was (maybe an inch taller, maybe 10 lbs heavier). People saying there's "no comparison" to Pat White I think are just trying to be contrarian. Of course there's comparison to Pat White. Just like there were valid comparisons to be made between Pat White and Cam Newton. There were also key differences that had to be discussed, the biggest ones being the most obvious, size and ability to throw the football. And of course, there are key difference between Pat White and Robert Griffin that need discussing.

But you knew with Cam Newton that you weren't going to run some pure pro style system with him under Center, at least not right away. If that was your plan, you weren't going to draft him. Fact of the matter is though, Jeff Ireland has maintained his reputation in Miami by specifically distancing himself from that Pat White decision. And when it comes to Pat White and Cam Newton, Griffin is closer to White than he is Newton, where it counts.

I also look at Carl Peterson and the quarterbacks he had in Kansas City...guys like Elvis Grbac, Joe Montana, Trent Green, Steve Bono...he tended A) toward veterans and B) toward prototypical passers.

And then I look at the guy most likely to be coaching the Dolphins next year...Jeff Fisher. Is he going to want a Robert Griffin? Or is he going to want a more prototypical passer? Call me crazy, I think he'll want the latter.

Robert Griffin may be a fantastic pro. And I agree that Steve Ross is looking for a bit more sizzle than steak at this point. But the people around Steve Ross, IMO...are not going to steer toward Robert Griffin.

Honestly I think the people around Steve Ross are going to steer toward Peyton Manning, whose release is looking more and more likely at this point.

 

Just what I thought, thanks CK. I think people really want the next Cam Newton, and that is a rare occurrence. RGIII is not Newton.
The most relevant point is that RGIII will need the proper system to be a starter in this league, let alone evolve into a franchise QB. We are not that system.

Tate up to get Luck or Barkley. If we end up picking 15th, and RGIII is still there, then I can live with that, but trading up to get him is insane.

And I don't see him being another McNair, more like another Josh Freeman, who is overrated, serviceable starter IMO

 

Yeah, I don't see Miami trading up for Griffin, especially if the speculation is true that they really like Tannehill. And the better Moore performs, the more I can see them being content with waiting on someone like Tannehill and letting him sit for a year.

 

Don't get me wrong, I definitely respect what you're saying. You have good points, Ireland being a Baylor alum, Steve Ross SEEMING like the type of guy that is all about the sizzle even at the expense of the steak, and most importantly, draft position and taking a look at who will be available where.

Trust me, I agree with you that there is a FAR more chance than just random that the Dolphins end up with RG3. You're absolutely right to bring up this subject for debate.

But ultimately, I don't see it happening. I 100% believe the report that Jeff Ireland is in love with Matt Barkley. I also believe the report that the SCOUTS love Ryan Tannehill. And of course, I am quite positive that Steve Ross is in love with Andrew Luck.

And then you've got two people giving Steve Ross advice, both of whom I imagine giving glowing recommendations to the idea of signing Peyton Manning.

That covers a lot of possibilities and the three that seem left out are Landry Jones, Brandon Weeden and Robert Griffin.

And so, the first thing that has to happen is Barkley's decision on whether to come out or not. If he comes out, then I imagine Jeff Ireland trying to convince Steve Ross that there are two elite QBs in this draft, not just one, and I think Steve Ross' independent checks with his contacts will confirm for him that Barkley and Luck are kind of in a pair together in the minds of a lot of decision makers. If Ireland convinces Ross that Barkley is elite, and he will definitely try, Ross will give the green light on doing whatever it takes to get him.

Meanwhile, something is going to be developing with Peyton Manning at the same time. Potentially, Andrew Luck as well. The Colts have to make a decision before free agency starts. In my mind, they're either cutting Manning free, or they're trading the Andrew Luck pick. They're not doing both. If they keep Manning and pay him the $28 million option bonus (very low odds bet IMO), then Steve Ross will push for a full court press on Bill Polian to accept a trade up, enlisting the help of Andrew Luck, Oliver Luck, and through them, the Mannings.

More likely though, the Colts just part ways with Peyton Manning and he becomes a free agent. Thing is, color me surprised if Peyton signs with anyone right away. This neck thing is taking forever and I think teams are going to want to see significant progress before they take a chance. And I think Peyton himself is going to want to see significant progress before he signs anywhere. So really what you could have unfolding in the background at the same time that there's all this investigation into guys like Matt Barkley, Robert Griffin, Landry Jones and Ryan Tannehill...is the Dolphins staying in touch with Peyton and monitoring the progress on his neck.

At some point later in the draft process, the Dolphins are going to know whether they have a legit shot of trading up for Matt Barkley or whether they even need to, or whether Ryan Tannehill is a good idea for them. They will have the costs and benefits framed with clearer vision. That will be when they will make the choice either to purse Barkley, Tannehill or Manning.

But either way, the one choice among them that I don't see happening, is Robert Griffin.
