That site banned me for no legitimate reason so I cant see what they won an award for.

 

Quite honestly I forgot about finheaven lol. I used to check both boards, but this one has really become home. It has the best insight and some great characters. I love reading the articles, lowering the Boom, and Gish stirring up trouble. This is the only community site that I check daily.

You prolly got banned for your affiliation here. They forced a bunch of us to pick sides. I ended up picking the side of the guys who didn't force me to pick.

 

You were the primary reason, although Im sure It would've been something else had it not been that.

I, for one, am glad you did what you had to do to get banned. :up: I'll get banned from here so we're even.

 

Actually someone DID something right. I believe the credit goes to Dark Mistress who helped do all that. She is here with us now but her work lives on over there.

 

That has a lot to do with other site webmasters voting for the same sites every year without actually visiting the site they vote for and they did win with DarkMistress' design.

Nevertheless, congrats to all the winners. :beer:

Well since I was banned that site has gone completely down hill. Coincidence? I think not.

 

hmmm....quick question. I clicked on the link and just for the heck of it, decided to sign in over there and check it out. Haven't done that since thephins.com has been going.

But the thing is i still have VIP over there. Am I still getting charged for that? I really hope not but I can't remember if they have auto update, or whether its been a year since i re-upped. Dont wanna ruffle feathers but how long has it been since the split? I think I may have re-upped a month or so before.

Only if your PayPal is on autopay. Id check your Ebay PayPal settings just to make sure. Also if you were VIP over there before the split you may be able to get into VIP here. Id PM Crunch, Celt, or Muck for details.

 

Let's not turn this into a bash fest. If you disagree with these results, take it up with the 21 other webmasters who voted. I congratulated FH that night and congratulate them today. They have a strong site and I hope they continue to flourish. :)

While it is true that not all of the site owners looked at all the sites when they voted, that's not FH's fault. It's our fault collectively as Dolfan webmasters for being lazy.

Even if they did, it doesn't mean anybody would have voted any differently. There are some really great sites out there run by my friends that didn't win anything either. That's just the way it works in a democracy. :tongue: Some of the sites I voted for won awards, some didn't. Some of them complimented me and said they sent a vote our way, which was very nice of them. :)

At the end of the day, it's all about the community we have here and doing your best. I didn't go there expecting any awards, so it shouldn't be a big deal that we didn't get any. :lol:

Agreed but honestly how can you pick which website is the best if you don't even visit it? That seems foolish to me and it devalues the whole process. Clearly FH wasn't visited much by the award givers or they would have noticed the major schism that developed that led to this site.

I don't want to bash FH just because I chose this place but not visiting a website and giving it an award based off its community (whose overall membership numbers are questionable) is wrong in my opinion.

Keep doing the jobs you guys are doing and forget about the awards because we all know this is the best Dolphins fan site on the web (and I truly mean that). :up:

Well it takes some time to build momentum and FH is benefiting from the momentum that this staff and our quality members created at FH so in a way the award is a credit to us so there is no reason to feel diminished.

That will change with time as cream always rises to the top

 

Two things I have learned:

1) The way to improve the quality of things is obviously to let people do whatever the hell they want.

2) Webmasters are self-congratulatory nerds. ;)

That's what I had a problem with. We were treated as if we couldn't enjoy both sites.

I am over it though. I find my home and best of luck to them.
