why would u want Minnesota's DC???? their pass defense is like dead last in the NFL...
rush D is good, but look at their DL....and compare that to OUR DL. -
Nice find Nublar7, Its a done deal as far as I am concerned. We are going to be Dallas South now..
Sparano will be the next Head Coach, the fact that they are flying down to Meet him before the playoffs start tells me they are just going to work out a contract im sure..
They will meet with Leslie Frazier next week to avoid the Roonie Rule and we will have a New Head Coach by next weekend in principal.
How the timing with him in the playoff's right now is beyond me. Im sure he will not just up and leave during a superbowl run, and I wonder if it will hurt dallas during the playoffs. Especially if the Dolphins want him to work the Senior Bowl! (or spend time watching film on players etc)Last edited: Jan 4, 2008 -
The question though is, if the Cowboys make the Super Bowl, do the plans change? If the Cowboys go to the big game, Sparano can't go to the Senior Bowl or put his staff together.
-
Nubs, you raise an interesting question, aside from Sparano being available to travel and attend the Senior Bowl if indeed Dallas is busy with SB, my question is if this is a done deal, what would prevent Ireland or Parcells from hiring all the staff on behalf of Sparano?
Am sure each hire would have Sparano's blessing. The staff could be at the Senior bowl this way.Last edited: Jan 4, 2008 -
Nublar, any word on where Frank Gansz jr will end up?
-
I predicted Rex Ryan would be considered as our head coach after Sporano. If we get him as a defensive coordinator that would be amazing!
-
-
Rex Ryan would be great. Really hope that happens.
-
I'd take Rex Ryan as our D coordinator any day of the week ... the Baltimore is one of the most versatile on the planet.
-
???? If he accepts of course he gets the job! ????
do you mean you think if he interviews for HC and Sparano interviews for HC, they would pick Ryan over Sparano for HC? -
-
I just woudnt be shocked if Asst Coaches are hired without a HC being named officially. -
i wouldnt mind having Rex ryan as our HC but if we can get him as our D-Coach that would be great and then hire another good OC

There's a difference between the defense Ryan runs and the one that Parcells and his guys have run, however. Parcells(And by extension, Belichick, Crenell, and Mangini) utilzie a 3-4 where all the linemen are playing 2-gap rather than the 1-gap Ryan favors.Last edited: Jan 4, 2008 -
I'm cool with Sparano HC and Ryan DC

[admin] Please do not circumvent the profanity filter! Thanks. [/admin]
I would think that the HC should be able to pick his own staff.
If the presumed HC(Sparano) was Ryan as his DC, that's alright.
I got the feeling Dom and Cam never saw eye-to-eye, I wouldn't want that cluster again. -
Do you think that it is easier to find players for the 4-3 or the 3-4 Disgustipate?
Which one would match our roster/Draft better in 2008? -
-
As much as people talk about him being one of the "hot coordinators" these days and last seasons fire/hire blitz as well, im not sure Id want a guy that likely wont be around more than a year or two. Bowles on the other hand would likely be around for several years.
Its nice to throw names like Ryan out there, but, like Scott Linehan, these guys often just leave, causing yet another change. For once Id like to see a staff make it through a few seasons together ... -

Now we "know" who will be available with out #1 pick, would you draft the player who best fits the 3-4, or the 4-3?
And who would that be?
Which player could play in either system and really stand out (potentially of course)? -
-
Potentially "true" but consider there is a bumper crop of DE's coming out this year, at least 5 who have #1 pick potential (Campbell, Harvey, Gholston, Long etc.)
There is only one DT of real note coming out, Dorsey, do you think he can play DT in the 4-3, or DE in the 3-4?
We may take Dorsey to play DT in our 4-3 next year, and then slide him to De in the 3-4 when we acquire the players to run it, and pick up a DE at #32, and rebuild our Dline in one draft.
Take a RT or LG at #55 and resign Hadnot, and we will have rebuilt our Oline in 1 draft as well, keep in mind we got Satele in the same position in 2007
If we hire Ryan, we really should (IMO) look at him for 2 years, not just one, because I think we will be switching to the 3-4 in two years.. -
Don't be too sure about re-signing Hadnot with the new people coming in, he may want to leave and cash in on the open market which would leave 3 positions on the o-line a question mark if Hadnot does in fact leave. -
As for whoever was asking about Ryan's D. He basically runs a 46 D, and has played with both a base 4-3 (last year) and a base 3-4(this year). -
people said the same thing about Tomlin's defense -
