I did too. His boobs look several cup sizes larger.
Someone forget to tell Sparano it was Henne's second year starting. Never mind 3rd year in the league.

It was his first year as starting quarterback throughout training camp, mini camps, practices and leading into the season etc
Im pretty sure a perfectionist like tony would know that....MarinePhinFan likes this. -
Great, Sparano comparing Henne with Manning. Ryan Leaf was 3-6 as a starter his first year starting for whatever that is worth.
The Colts were coming off a 3-13 year Manning's first year so the team didn't get worse. In year two of Manning starting the Colts went 13-3.
Henne's first year starting followed a team that went 11-5...albeit, coming off a much easier schedule the year before. But Henne did not take Miami to another level last year when the defense was significantly better and had Marshall to throw to. -
Henning through Henne under the bus and Tony agreed.
Maybe an epiphany for now.:confused2:GMJohnson likes this. -

Henne improved in plenty areas.
1. He became the top QB in the league in 3rd and 3-7s conversion %age. (and a QB rating around 117)
2. He became a better 1st down passer <on a down that's less predictable> with an 87 QB rating and more TDs than INTs.
3. He improved in the redzone with 10 TDs to what should be 1 INT and a rating around 92.
4. He continued to show that he can play well when trailing a game: 89 rating, 9 TDs, 7 INTs, despite not having the greatest personnel for coming from behind.
5. When he throws the ball 21-30 times/game, his rating is 106 with 6 TDs to 1 INT.
Ok, so we've got: 1st down at 87 rating, 2nd down ?, 3rd & normal at 117, 3rd & long ?, redzone at 92, trailing a game at 89, and 21-30 pass attempts at 117. Does anyone look at these and not think "Wow, those are the makings of some good numbers here. We might have something!"????
When our ground game picks up no yards on 1st or 2nd down, leaving us in TOO MANY 2nd and 3rd and Longs, that's where problems arose.... and we see evidence of this in the stat column where Henne's ratings are in the 60's on 2nd down and 3rd and long IIRC. When we get the ground game going and can consistently gain solid yards on 1st and/or 2nd down, we'll begin seeing these weak areas of his game minimized and improved as more 2nd and 3rd & longs are becoming 2nd or 3rd & <7 yards instead. Then we should begin seeing 2nd down and 3rd down performance increasing to where it balances him out across the board.
6. I saw him improve with his feet as well. He picked up a few key first downs for us with them. I expect that to happen more frequently now. -

True enough, but that 11-5 team was NOT very talented. They didn't add much this year other than Marshall and the OL got worse....big difference...

Yeah, it was those signs of improvement that led him to bench Henne.
what i dont get is why n e one is bashing hard. they didnt hand him the job,, all they are saying is the saw enuff to allow him to compete for it and they are looking to upgrade. best of both worlds, dont give up on henne while not throwing all your eggs and your future on him
