That's the 2nd mock I've seen with us nabbing LeShoure in the 3rd, and Helu going in rd 7. I would be very surprised to see either go so late, but I would love for us to be able to get both players.


In their mock, I'd rather Denarius Moore than Brown but I could certainly live with that draft.

 

I'd rather us take Pat Devlin in the 5th then Brandon Burton in the 6th.

I wouldn't be a big fan of that draft. It's solid, but you don't get any kind of real QB prospect and I think that's pretty important in this draft. I honestly think LeShoure has a better chance of being a 1st round pick than a 3rd round pick.

 

I'm a big fan of that mock, and it's very realistic, it's what Ireland would do.

 

I don't think LeShoure lasts that long. I'd rather go after DeMarco Murray in the 3rd anyways. I see a lot more potential in him, than LeShoure. I like the Pouncey, Kendricks, and Helu picks though.

It definitely looks like a Dolphins draft, but the names are all wrong. LeShoure doesn’t last until the 3rd, Kendricks doesn’t last until the 4th. Also, I think Helu goes off the board in the 5th round at the latest.

If it said Shane Vereen and Virgil Green, that would be even more realistic.

 

He's going to be a player in the NFL. If he's available in the 3rd and we pass on him for another RB not named Ryan Williams or Taiwan Jones, I will be disappointed.

This. I could make a nice mock draft too if I had us taking players 2-3 rounds later than they are expected. What do you guys think of my mock draft?

I think that draft would not be that great, personally. Not a fan of Smith, Jones nor Moch.

 

I could see Kendricks lasting to the 4th. He's not special enough at any one thing IMO, and that may make him slide a little.

I wouldn't be upset with Kendricks but I'd prefer Virgil Green, whom I believe is a better fit for what our offense needs.

Added: With a team that has a solid Oline and/or decent FB, I think Virgil can blossom into a starting TE who does enough to help out in the run game while excelling at catching balls and making plays. Plus he's accustomed to a QB throwing lasers at him.

 

Kendricks > Green III and Kendricks is a better fit for Daboll's offense (based off of last years in Cleveland) IMO.

 

I guess it's possible since Shonn Greene went in the 3rd..... but I just don't see it with LeShoure.

 

why doesn't Kendricks last until the 4th? Aaron Hernandez did, and people thought he was a 2nd rounder. James Casey is a better player than Kendricks IMO and he lasted till the 5th despite a 2nd round projection. I'm not sure I'd rate him higher than Dennis Pitta who was a 4th rounder.

He's not an every down TE, so I could definitely see him lasting till the 4th.

 

Well, for me this draft has good backs in each rd so it is more important that Ireland PROPERLY evaluate R+R and make the correct decision on each one of them, if he lets both walk we are thin at running back with only Sheets and Hilliard with any potential, would like Taiwan Jones later in the draft over Helu, but doubt we take either one of them.

 

Hernandez was rumoured to have the failed drug tests, IIRC.

I thought Daboll was limited by what he had in Cleveland and wants to open it up a little more than what Cleveland allowed him? IMO Green is a better playmaker and more of a threat to stretch the middle.

 

Because of Kendricks ability to block both inline and in space. He works zones well and the underneath, which Daboll liked to do a lot with his tight ends.

 

If we do go Pouncey in the 1st, then I think LeShoure or Vereen will be our target in the 3rd. If we like LeShoure enough, I could see us trading back up into the 2nd to grab him. But, if they like both guys, then I could also see us standing pat and just waiting to see who is there.

 

Why do you think he will? He’s probably going to be the 3rd TE off the board. I have him as a 3rd rounder. Rudolph in the late 1st, Stocker some time in the 2nd, Kendricks and Williams in the 3rd. Jordan Cameron can go anywhere in there depending on which teams think he’s Jimmy Graham II.

Sorry, guys. But I don’t see how LeShoure or Kendricks fall as far as the mock draft stipulates. I would LOVE it, but I don’t see it happening. LeShoure in particular, if he falls anywhere near this range, will be snagged by a team trading up to get him.

That is the thing TP, is that due to a lack of speed or was it Henning's way of dealing with Henne's strengths, or was it a combination of factors with "fear or turnovers or sacks" being mixed in?

I don't necessarily think he will, but TE has been such a crazy and unpredictable position the past few years that I think he & Stocker could go anywhere from 2-4.
Green is the guy I think could sneak in higher b/c of the immediate success of Hernandez. Kendricks I don't envision being an immediate contributor. I don't think Stocker will be a big contributor early on unless he goes to a team depleted at TE. IMO Cameron wont do anything till late in the season which will push his draft stock down a smidge. IMO Charles Clay is the underrated guy in this mix. And DJ Williams is the safe pick who should help out from day one but will offer less upside compared to a few of the other guys.

 

Not following you on Kendricks not being an immediate contributor, Todd. Outside of Kyle Rudolph and maybe Stocker, he's the other guy who would contribute immediately IMO.

 

why? do you not like Green's potential to work the flats? I'd think Virgil would represent a better weapon on stretch plays where Marshall and Hart have cleared out the field. If Fasano can rack up 15 ypc because of it, then I'd hate to see what Green could do.

 

I just don't think he's that great of a prospect. He's more of a straight-line guy IMO.

 

I think it's the personnel we have and Henning designing plays to fit our strengths. Bess is an underneath guy. Fasano is more of an underneath to intermediate guy. Marshall is more of a possession receiver than a stretch the field kind of guy. If we had Virgil working the middle, I think it would've helped open up our offense.

 

I just don't see him having any type of elite, eye-popping skill set that would allow him to have an immediate impact. IMO he needs a year or 2 to grow into his NFL body (just like many players do) before we see him start to shine. I'm not saying I think he wouldn't see the field because and I do believe he'll make some plays, but I don't see him having the same immediate impact of Virgil Green. IMO you can find easy ways to get Virgil the ball and let him do some damage while he's growing into the position, where as I dont see that as much with Kendricks. But that's just my view, which could be totally out the window.

 

No kidding, seeing him first hand many times, do not want.
