• Worrisome: The Dolphins have just three sacks in the preseason and only one by a starter (Randy Starks). ``It does concern me,'' coach Tony Sparano said of the pass rush. Among outside linebackers, there hasn't been much rush generated beyond Cameron Wake and at times, Erik Walden. Remember rookie starter Koa Misi had modest sack numbers at Utah: 10.5 in three years. Although Miami will blitz more during the season, Sparano is ``not that big a fan'' of constant blitzes because it exposes the cornerbacks.
• How uncharacteristic are Brandon Marshall's four drops in the preseason? ProFootballFocus said he has 24 drops over the past two regular seasons (16 in 2008, eight in 2009), second-most behind Dwayne Bowe (25).

I guess worrisome is the key word in this blurb althlough it was somewhat predictatble .

I swear to God if these idiots keep getting concerned over preseason games I'm going shoot something.

Pandarilla likes this. -
but it is worry-some. the vikings have a good defense, they had 7 sacks in 2 preseason games before the start of last nights game. just for comparison reasons. -
In the 3-4, DE's do not get many sacks. They come from blitzes, which we have not yet seen from Nolan.
I am somewhat concerned but, far from worried. -
its funny but the only person thats worrying me is Cameron Wake. I'm starting to feel he will not be the impact WOLB pass rushing terror we need. We'll see what happens once we start scheming our defense but so far in the one on ones he's been getting stonewalled. We need at least 12 sacks from the guy this year for this defense too work like its supposed too. Misi isnt going to give us double digit sacks and we need Wake to provide that since we passed on all the sack prospects in the draft
I'm not worried about the secondary, I'm not worried about our defensive line or inside linebackers, I'm not worried about our offensive line, running backs, quarterback or receivers but our OLBs are not showing sacking prowess and that is worrying the hell out of me -
I've watched Cam this preseason as I'm not a fan of assuming and what I've noticed:
-no one was more effected by the swamps in the first two weeks, his great get off was neutralized by the muck.
-He is not running the arc as often, Ryan was taking short drops and the ball was coming out so Wake was slanting to the inside and there just wasn't teh time to get to the Qb, though he did have Two QBP's in the falcons game.
If Starks is doubled, that DE is single blocked, that is where the failure is happening, in fact for all of the love Odie has been getting, Marques Douglas has out played him and it is not even close..but Marques isn't a pass rusher.
Grant has probably shown the best all around game from the Dline, pressures, TFL's, Grant is having a fine preseason, but has he been on the same 4 man dline with Wake and Starks?
:dunno:
But I think he should be, with either Odie or McD playing DT. -
Well I was going to say that maybe Nolan isn't throwing much at opposing teams during the preseason, but before making the statement I looked back on Denver's preseason performances last year. Through 3 games they had 8 sacks.
I'm worried. If we can't pressure the QB our young, inexperienced and overrated (Vontae Davis) secondary will be exposed again this year. -

Eh, for me, not so much, there is the usual tinkering going on, for Sparano saying you have to win your individual matchup, the guy playing next to you has a lot to do with winning that match up.

Anyone who watched the Falcons game and calls Vontae Davis overrated did not watch the Falcons game.

Well, if Wake doesn't get'r done at the Will, do not be surprised if we see Misi play the Will, and Ikaika at the Sam and Wake in a version of what he did in 09, pass rush specialist DE.
I also tend to think Sparano is shooting the Defense in the foot with his "base package" only philosophy and it maybe would be better to run the 4-3 just to shake out who is doing what on the Dline if he put the stop on sending exotic blitzes during the preseason.
That 4 man nickel rush line is going to play a huge role in our Defense this season imho. -
i love barry jackson, but thats all he came up with 2 weeks before the season starts, man i expected more info, at least half a page

ding ding ding and the winner for the most accurate statment is...SICK:up: -
I think everyone needs to relax we were tops in the league in sacks last year with Jason Taylor and Joey Porter. Now we have Misi and Wake. so r u still worried
-
sack stats
sack stats
sack stacks...(crap)
That is hard to say 3 times fast.
BTW-It's spelled Primadonna, Italian for "first lady" (prima donna)

You point out how someone in this thread implies Sparano is an idiot but then you turn around and imply the same thing by calling his starting cb mr premadona.
