I don't think it can be overestimated just how important he is to this defense. With new LBs and a healthy Jones, I really believe our defense will hit the next level up.

#55 lmao, Suh is one of the most dominant defensive players on planet earth and a huge reason we made the playoffs last year. Other than Aaron Donald who is a lot younger, nobody plays the position as effectively as Ndamukong. Worth every penny, now a guy like Fletcher Cox on the other hand...Let's just say he has a lot to prove. He's ranked ahead of Suh on this list, but Philly fans know he regressed this year, and their team suffered as a result. Fletcher Cox may be paid like Suh and is probably a hell of a lot more popular, but if you put on the tape, on player is superior to the other and it sure as hell ain't Cox lol. Lists be damned.

Why would Suh be higher? The run defense sucks. Shouldn't he take a t of blame based on salary?

So however good Suh is as a player (and I agree the guy is one the best at his position), I'm not sure we'd be that much worse as a unit in run defense with an average player there. At least that's what the stats say because few NFL defenses perform worse in the running game in any year. As you say it's a team game.jdang307 likes this. -
Suh is a dominate DT. He will be in the HoF. For example, HoF DT Cortez Kennedy (who died today) finished his 11 season career with 56 sacks and Suh already, in 7 seasons, has 47 sacks. Suh is consistently double and triple teamed. He's about as dominate as any DT that's ever played.

Suh comes into camp every year in incredible shape- he's one of the few in the entire league that skips optional workouts with coaching approval because he's working even harder alone. The guy is strong, agile, fast, powerful, smart, mean...he's truly a total package in a defensive lineman. Nobody can block him 1:1 consistently; he's truly unstoppable without a 2nd and a 3rd man pitching in.
Why is he worth what he's paid? With Suh on the field against double teams, that means there's ALWAYS a gap for our linebackers to shoot. It also means that Wake sees his fair share of single coverage when he's always been doubled in the past, plus other ends get the benefit of broken coverage often as well. In an 11 on 11 game, you're already winning pre-snap if 2 or 3 people are dedicated to stopping one player. And somehow Suh still makes tackles- he should have zero sacks on the year with that kind of coverage.
Almost every play offenses call is designed to play "keep away from Suh".
Besides Kiko and Wake, we have struggled to consistently create pressure from the front seven. That's not a knock on Suh but a testament to how far the talent drops off past our elite few. With this year's LB upgrades though plus an ultra-agile new end, I think that will change a lot in 2017 and you'll see Suh's true value.Last edited: May 23, 2017The_Dark_Knight, Mcduffie81, danmarino and 4 others like this. -

If you want to judge Suh against a HoF player, it's John Randle or W Sapp, with 130 something sacks and 90 something respectively.
At 8 years into their careers Sapp had 72 sacks and Randle had 85.5. -
The first video in the first post in this thread even talks about his role as a space eater.RealDolphinsFan2 likes this. -
In fact, I would say that the closest to being Tez in the NFL today is Suh.RealDolphinsFan2 likes this. -
Suh is much closer to Wilfork than he is to Randel. Suh is closer to Tez than Wilfork is to Tez. Wilfork is not nearly athletic as Tez. Tez penetrated with the best of them.
Wilfork has a long way to go to be Suh.RealDolphinsFan2 likes this. -
Sapp is one of my all time favorite football players so I'm not showing any bias here. Suh, if he played in Sapps role, would blow Sapp out of the water. Sapp, in Suh's role, would not be better than Suh. Same with Randle. -
Why are we trying to compare Suh to anyone? It doesn't matter who he resembles...it matters what he does on a weekly basis. And that's pretty simple to define- he kicks offensive limemens' asses so others can make a play.
Let me put it this way. Any time Suh makes a tackle, deflection, pressure or sack, at least two NFL linemen are dipping their heads in shame. He should never, ever ever touch an NFL quarterback the way he's blocked in the league....yet he does 3-6 times a game. His play is absolutely incredible and it's not just about his numbers- most big defensive plays come through Suh one way or another.
- The safety grabs an easy pick...see where Suh collapsed half the pocket by himself
- A running back cuts to the outside....after Suh negated any possible hole
- Our left DE gets a sack....see where the OT had to crash down hard on Suh
- Our LB lights up the QB....he ran through the gaping hole between center and guard since Suh commanded the double team
I could keep going- and these are all things that doesn't even get an asterisk in the statistics books. Yet Suh leads to 10-15+ big stops a game just being himself and reaping havoc....even if he appears to have nothing to do with the play. That's why he's paid what he's paid.Last edited: May 23, 2017The_Dark_Knight, Claymore95, RealDolphinsFan2 and 2 others like this. -
Suh is good enough to draw 2X, but they are usually effective vs Suh, I don't think it's a coincidence that Suh has been a part of bad run Ds his whole career except for 2 years. -
#55 is a joke of a ranking..lol..really is..

I know more football in my pinkie than you do my friend. Suh said what I said and you are too much of a woman to admit that -
What does me being a fan of comics have to do with anything? Too much of a woman? Really? Also, you've proven time and again to have a "Madden easy mode level" of football understanding. You're also proving that you lack the understanding of normal human behaviors by touting that Suh article. -
