Good for Flores. Trade or just get rid of this A Hole. The last statement says it all. It's about the team NOT YOU.
From PFT:
Regardless, one day after receiver Kenny Stills ripped Jay-Z for his decision to do a deal with the NFL without regarding to the ongoing unemployment of quarterback Colin Kaepernick, the Dolphins dialed up eight straight Jay-Z songs at practice.
“I felt like he really discredited Colin and myself and the work that’s being done in our communities,” Stills said Monday. “I think he could’ve handled the whole situation differently. If he were to say, ‘I see the work that Colin and these guys have been doing, and I want to partner up with the league to further that work,’ it would have been totally different than some of the ways that he answered some of these questions.”
Various theories have been promulgated for the move, including whether coach Brian Flores was simply trying to help Stills deal with distractions created by the crowd at a game. Perhaps the more plausible reaction is that this is how Flores deals with distractions on his roster.
In New England, players don’t spend time at their locker criticizing business deals done at the league level. In New England, players have a narrow range of permitted subjects, to which they adhere with near-robotic precision. They do that in part because the Patriots target players who will do that. They do that in part because Belichick insists on it. They do that in part because they have witnessed what Belichick says and does to those who deviate from the permitted script.
In Miami, the latest Belichick disciple to become a head coach has a player who is willing to call out anyone and everyone, including the team’s owner. Flores didn’t seem to like that, and the Jay-Z playlist seems to be Flores’ way of expressing that publicly.
The more important question here is whether Flores wants Stills on the roster. The Dolphins owe him nearly $8 million for 2019, $3 million of which is guaranteed for now. As of Week One, the full amount becomes guaranteed as a practical matter. It will be very interesting to see whether Flores decides to keep Stills on the roster for the first game of the regular-season — and it also will be interesting to see whether other teams, cognizant of what’s happening in Miami, call the Dolphins about a possible trade.
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see whether Stills wants to stay in Miami. One thing is certain: If Stills has any reservations about continuing to be a Dolphin, he won’t be afraid to say so.

In fairness to Stills, the work he does in the community off the field is to be commended. I’d rather see people of interest get involved and actually act rather than run their mouths, ala Karpernick. That said...
Still draws too much negative attention to the TEAM when he makes his off field actions a primary focus on the field such as kneeling during the national anthem.
Stills needs to make up his mind...is he a community activist that plays for the Miami Dolphins or is he a Miami Dolphin who is active in his community? -
My opinion? (Not that anyone asked for it) That 'article' is nonsense. The quote from Flores (which is consistent with who we've seen Flores to be so far) shows that Flores values directness and dealing with issues one on one, not in sneaky or using behind-the-back methods. Stills should have spoken to Ross directly at first, Flores said, communication is needed and vital, he made clear. Are we to believe that same guy then intentionally authorised Jay Z track selections to spite Stills? If Flores is that petty the Dolphins are done. I, for one, don't believe it.
I do think Stills should have spoken to Ross before going public because that would have been consistent with his overall message of everyone coming together, listening, and communicating better. No one is perfect though and he's been a man who has been active and tried to find practical ways to bring about genuine change.
Nothing I've read suggests Stills is any kind of bad personality and I don't want to see him traded for any other reasons than football issues. If Flores decides that he doesn't want the media attention Stills brings and Stills won't adjust then that's a reason too, but to suggest Stills is some sort of loud-mouth or has a bad attitude, I don't agree.
The author of that piece is putting out too much opinion/gossip and not enough in the way of objective facts.Last edited: Aug 21, 2019jdallen1222, Irishman and Dol-Fan Dupree like this. -

Stephen Ross does something that contradicts his supposed moral compass and Kenny Still calls him on his bull****. I commend Kenny Stills for speaking up for what he thinks right.
Edit: There was no way Ross would have cancelled his stupid fundraiser because Stills asked him to do it in private. Ross loves his cheaper taxes more than his charity work.TheOne, texanphinatic, Puka-head and 2 others like this. -

“This is a decision I personally wish Steve had not made,” Diahann Billings-Burford told Jason Reid of ESPN.com. She admitted that she has had “difficult conversations” regarding the impact of that decision on the credibility of RISE with black athletes.
“I totally understand, empathize — I don’t know what word is more powerful — [with] the disappointment and criticism toward Steve for making this decision,” Billings-Burford told Reid. “I would have to lack perspective to not understand why this decision would not make athletes hesitate to work with RISE.”Puka-head likes this. -
Kenny Stills isn't the hypocrite in this scenario. That title goes to Stephen Ross.

Folks, please stay on the football side of this issue. There is no longer a PoFo, nor will there be one again. This is a Miami Dolphin football forum. The topic is about the team so no immediate action is being taken but if this turns into a generic political discussion it will go down the memory hole and the thread closed. Thems the rules we all agreed to live by in using this place.

Dude....this whole thing is so 2017.
If Kenny Stills is going to bring that noise to the Dolphins I'd boot him. He might be a saint but I'm just not interested in what he has to say about this stuff.
Football is entertainment dude.Last edited: Aug 21, 2019 -
For a player as inconsistent as him, who disappears for weeks, I am all for trading him it's not worth the headache.

Well, he's not a dominant player, that's for sure.
I think he's a good guy and has talent but he's of relatively low value considering he plays what is probably the deepest position in the NFL, a position that is most certainly the deepest on our roster. There is absolutely no doubt Miami could lose him and not miss a beat (which says something).
You might say booting him would make waves but I disagree. This is no different than any other situation where certain people make themselves targets. They're a nuisance to everyone including their peers.
Sorry bro, the harsh reality is that nobody tuning in to watch their favorite team wants to hear this noise. It was a fad. But it's over. People are back to football being football.
No team ever has to apologize for getting rid of guys who are distractions.resnor likes this. -

Teams competing for championships arent busy with jay z drama. Ask Belichick what his opinion is about Jayz and Kaepernick and see what kind of response you get.
Honestly i dont like what Flores did yesterday, i think he handled it immaturely.
If you think a player is a distraction, go straight to Grier and get trade talks going or discuss his release. You set the precedent that we are here about football.
That whole nas and jay z nonsense is just an embarrasing headline and other teams are laughing at us right now. I know because ive read it myself.
As for the first line you said on the original post... You dont call a guy that has done as much as Wilson and Stills has for their people and the community an A hole. They put their money where that mouth is, and unfortunately thats a lot more than most of us have done for others. Hell some people rather sit on ttheir *** and dont give a damn about whats going on with their friend or neighbor. These two go out and do a lot of work in the offseason, theyre not taking days off, theyre actually helping.
In the end, the Dolphins need to go back to being a football culture.texanphinatic likes this. -
That's essentially what Jay-Z just did- he magically inserted himself into a cause and spoke on behalf of people he has nothing to do with. It's an insult to everyone involved and Stills had every right to say that Jay-Z was not speaking for him. If Jay-Z wants to ***-kiss his way into NFL ownership that's fine, but he should expect to get called on outright lies. -
I see that Still feels so strongly about Kap not being on a team that he's willing to not play until he's hired. Or anyone else that is so passionate about Kap not having a job. Oh that's right that's their MONEY. When it's someone else then it's ok. Even Kap sold out and took the NFL's money to go away instead of seeing it to the end. Just goes to show how principled he is to his own cause. As Grand Master Flash said "It's all about the money ain't a damn thing funny". All these guys are just blah blah blah and when it comes down to it...they take the cash. -
Up until now Kenny Stills has done the former, which is good. I mean, I don't really care personally, but it's his prerogative who he wants to be and what he wants to do. I don't demand WRs do charity work. He's free to do it. I'll tip my cap to him. But it doesn't earn him moral authority to be louder than the average WR.
So if he's going to do the latter and become a critic of other people in his spare time then I'm out. He can retire and then he'll have all day to do that. -

Whatever's going on with Colin Kaepernick is really, really old news. That guys stopped being relevant a long time ago. He seems to have parlayed his controversy into a newfound fame which I don't think is by accident. Society has largely made up their minds about him.
When most of us think Colin Kaepernick, we think self-serving DB.
I can't speak for everyone but as a middle class 34-year old, when I think Jay-Z, I think rich guy who made a ton as a music producer...so good for him.
I mean, call me nuts, but I'm inclined to favor the latter even if I'm not into hip hop, LOL.
Granted I have no idea what "movement" got interrupted or by whom but it sounds like a bunch of hens squawking about nothing.Den54 likes this. -

But this isn't important stuff.
I wouldn't give people bad advice on their taxes. I'd tell them to ask an expert.
Football though? Pssh...this stuff is entertainment. If y'all are listening to Kenny Stills about politics, y'all need a life.
Sorry to be mean about it. I'm bored and this is the only thread doing anything. Not much to talk about when it's preseason w. Rosen at QB I guess.Last edited: Aug 21, 2019xphinfanx likes this. -
Dude..Galant...end it, bro.
How can people talk about this and have it be football-related?
The whole point is that what he's doing isn't football, LOL.
End the thread. -
Off the field, he's volunteered heavily in the community and represented the Fins two years straight for NFL Man of the Year. He has kneeled for racial injustice and answered questions to media when asked, but generally he has not made headlines...up until this past week with two different stories. So if he's a "distraction", it's only been for the past 7 days maximum because the team has absolutely loved him.
Now to your question- is he "valuable enough" to be a Miami WR? He was our most valuable receiver for the past two seasons, so that seems like a dumb question unless it's being asked with additional motives. Plain and simple, he disagreed once with Ross and once with Jay-Z....each in 10-20 second comments that the media has turned into a story.
I hardly see that as grounds for trading someone.Last edited: Aug 21, 2019MonstBlitz, Hooligan, texanphinatic and 2 others like this. -

Only until recently were players out in the field standing for the anthem.
As for this, I got two things to say.
1. I really don't understand why people are getting all up in arms about him expressing an opinion. Come talk to me when he does some Richie Incognito type stuff or quits on his team over something that's not a big deal.
2. I'm giving Flores the benefit of the doubt, because sometimes sports writers pull stories out of thin air. But if... IF... Flores really did this to diss Stills, then that's really an immature move and he shouldn't be coaching an NFL team.texanphinatic, KeyFin and Dol-Fan Dupree like this. -
You don't trade Stills or get rid of him unless it is for a competent offensive lineman or 2. Hell, I would trade anyone on this team for 4 competent offensive linemen and a franchise QB.
As for the other stuff, Im just gonna leave that alone because I would piss off most people with where I stand, lol.texanphinatic likes this.
