I wish I could be alive two or three hundred years from now when most of the population is some form of mutt sharing a similar heritage just as it is for white Americans today. Seriously, despite how it's treated in this country, "white" isn't a friggin' nationality. When immigration first began in America, it wasn't like, "Hey, the white people arrived." It was, "the Brits, Dutch, Quakers, Scots, Germans, Swedes, Finns, Welch, and Irish arrived." They viewed themselves by their nationalities. Just as Cubans & Mexicans or Afghans & Pakistani today don't like to be called by the other's country name, the same was true back then. Remember "Gangs of New York"? Now look at us. My ancestry on all 4 of my grandparents' sides dates back to the late 1700's until 1806. They were German, British, Scottish, and Cherokee.... and not a single one of them looked at each other as being the same. And now here I am- a mix of 4 different nationalities [and possibly more] but through years of assimilation and cross breeding have become just a white ole American. The influx of immigration now is similar to what we saw back then, so it's only time until history repeats itself.
