1. If Blackmon drops then fine. Otherwise, drop and give me twenty (Maybe that TE out of Stanford)
2. Alshon Jeffrey, he's gonna drop, but kid is the only true dynamic player at WR that will be a true red zone threat
3. Take your shot at QB here, Tannehill just doesn't make sense to me at #8, perhaps lower in the round. Plenty of stat-busters to choose from in RD 3
3a. Better make this count Irish, another speedy offensive weapon or prepare for the cliche' "so we got blank for Brandon Marshall!"
4. Traditionally, where Ireland takes a shot at a developmental beefy lineman with promise.
5. Take another stat-buster QB...Why not?
6. Did somebody say Safety?
7. Edge rusher long shot...
I'll see you hell...

Why is trading down so popular among fans here? I'll take a top 10 player over a Jared Odrick type + another 2nd round bargain bust any day of the week.

You get better value and extra picks unless you're sure about who you want (based on the 12 gamechanger player theory hoisted by Saban)...In this draft nobody really stands out after the top 5 to me. Tough to take a chance on crippling the organization (further) by botching the pick.

The thing I most want to do with my GM that has a history of botching second round picks is give him additional second round picks.

We can trade our 2nd rounders for 3rd and 5th round picks then! and then maybe ship those off for multiple 6th and 7th round picks and go gem hunting.

You claim there's only a small amount of people in draft that are impact. You claim our GM can't draft game changing talent. Your solution to those two things?
Trade down to lessen your chance of grabbing an impact player because you're shrinking the pool of players to choose from all to give the GM you don't trust more picks to botch.
I believe that allows me to call into question all of your thoughts and assumptions about the team, the players, the coach and gm. -

Hmmm...Now that I think about it, we could probably use the cumulative value of all of our draft picks and trade for half of the 6th round or maybe over three quarters of it. With all of those 6th round picks we could dominate the 6th round and have plenty of chances to get a Gem there. Maybe there will even be a 6th round quarterback in there we could grab with no pressure and very low expectations.....? No? :shifty:

Not a huge Tannenhill fan but if we draft him I will be more than happy to believe Philbin knows what to look for in a QB. It's not just Ireland no matter how much people way want to believe that.

I won't be happy, I'll just be willing to give it a chance.

My top 4 picks (based on how things are shaking out in the Club Level Mock Draft) barring any trade downs/ups would be DE Coples (1st), RT Massie (2nd), WR Sanu, WR Quick (3rd round). Then I'd probably look at CB/Safety in the 4th to finish off all the glaring holes and finish off with a mix of OL/DB and Linebacker depth in 5th/6th/7th. Yes I know that avoids QB but I don't buy into Tannehill/Weeden. I'll give Moore 1 year in a WCO to see what he can do with all the new weapons and if it doesn't work out....go in very hard for a QB next year.
I also know someone will scream TE but that's Fasano/Clay. Pretty sure at this point Clay is the #2 TE with the team searching for a more traditional FB the past couple weeks.jboogie likes this. -

As for how my ideal mock shakes out:
8: Ryan Tannehill (Coples is the pick if Tannehill is gone...if both are gone, move down imo)
42: Alshon Jeffery
73: Marvin Jones (or Chris Givens...two best route runners in this draft.)
74: George Iloka FS
103: Cyrus Gray RB, Texas AM (continuity and knows the offense)
145: Tony Bergstrom OT Utah
196: Chase Ford TE, Miami
215: Cliff Harris CB Oregon -
I like my mock though  -

I am sold on my choice of draft day theme songs however,

They also did some work with Rodgers' mechanics, which I think they'll need to do with Tannehill should they draft him.
