Hoping he duplicates that this April. One of the LB's from the National Championship game would be great....

Don't know haw much say Nolan will have in the war room. Probably not much. I am, however, very excited to see him coaching in Miami!!

He has the experience in picking players, and has experience with the Senior Bowl. His knowledge on how the Senior Bowl runs will be invaluable. He also can help the staff with any kinks in separating coaching from scouting. Hell, this is where he and Singletary snuffed out Willis (who was the Sr. Bowl Defensive MVP). -

The scheme really isn't singular though. Nolan has used a myriad of them and while advice may be asked for it's not necessarily true that the brass will pick the coordinator's favorite player.

Vonnie Holiday
Ronald Fields (a SF draftee)
Andra Davis
B Dawkins
Whatever success Mike Nolan had in Denver, it was due to the Vets and not so much the rookies. -
you need to work out of a base system that you have the talent to support
then move to what works in given situations Nichol/Dime 4-3, 5-2 whatever
I'm sure the 3/4 will continue as the base w/ many variations of play available
on game day, that's the difference between the mediocre & the great coach -
With results like that I think its no wonder Nolans head coaching stint was cut short...I'm certainly glad he's not going to have much of an impact on ours...
Anybody know if he had final say in SF? -
I think both are worthy, and both great picks at that spot.Anonymous likes this. -

That said, I just think he's gonna be a special player. Call it a hunch. Besides, as an ILB, it just makes sense to rebuild this defense around a player of his caliber and potential IMO. Consider his position the QB of the defense if you will. And, with Nolan now in charge of that defense, who knows...maybe he would have a similar type of impact as Willis, even if he's not quite the same level of raw talent.
As for whether or not he'll be a good player or not (or, if any draftee will be), well...that's the gamble that is still the NFL Draft. In other words, it's not an exact science (even though year after year, with all the analysis, the combine, etc., they certainly try to make it one).
This much I feel pretty certain of though...with Nolan in fold, I believe a strategy will be in place to add the key pieces needed to rebuild this defense, both via the draft and FA. He may not have say on specific players, but I believe his input on the type of players will carry a lot of weight with The Trifecta on draft day. JMHO.
BTW Disgustipate, I have to ask you...what in the name of all that is holy is that thing in your avatar? Is that you wrestling some sort of sea creature? If so, what the heck is it? I've been meaning to ask you for sometime now. Please enlighten me.
