Those numbers are so ****ing flawed it is not even funny.

We'll sell you a game system that is meant for head to head/family fun but only give you 1 controller with it, defeating the whole point of buying the system. Then we'll offer you 2nd controller and LOOK, it comes with a free game! Then we'll count our controller sales as "games sales".

A comparison would be XBOX 360 being sold with ZERO memory and Microsoft selling the only memory expansion available for $29.99 and including a free game with it.

The article is talking about Wii Sports. The game bundled with the Wiimote is Wii Play.

What a got damn shame.

SMB is still the single most important video game ever created. It single-handedly resurrected the entire video game industry.

 

I did but i then returned Socom and complained about the game and they gave me 40 bucks back.

I still dont see how they can count Wii sports as a game (in game sales) when it comes with every wii sold. Mario will forever be KING.

 

If it wasnt for Mario (Nintendo) Wii would not exist today so Mario still is better. :up:

 

Super Mario Bros. came with the NES system too. Kind of the same thing IMO.

 

Regardless of numbers:

Super Mario Bros. 3 = Best game ever
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 = Second best game ever
Super Mario Bros. = Third best game ever
Super Mario Bros. 2 = Crap on a stick.

Nah. It's just that I don't think that the style of play fits into the Mario series. The game itself doesn't suck, I should say as far as Mario games go it's my least favorite.

 

I LOVED it when I was young but I haven't played it since.

 

As much as I agree with you (as Mario, in it's context, was a far superior game) you have to remember that Mario was packaged with the console too. I remember my first NES came with Mario Bros. and duck hunt. Damn duck hunt was an awesome game Then when my brother got his first SNES it came packaged with Mario all stars which included the first Mario, the second Mario, the third Mario, Super Mario and some other random Mario. Yep you guessed it, I was pretty much all Mario'd out by the time the '64 came along :chuckle:

Final Fantasy VII is my favorite game on that list. I'm very nostalgic over the old Mario games BUT VII is the best game there.

I concur sir. It's my favorite game of all time. If Sony remakes it, makes a sequel, a prequel, or whatever, I'll buy a ps3 just for that.

All I can say is WOW.

16 of the top 20 selling games of all time were first-party Nintendo titles. That's simply incredible.

that it did. I thoroughly enjoyed that game. Played it for 4-5 hours at a time. Unfortunately I can't say the same for any other psp game. I liked patapon and god of war was alright for the few hours it was, but the psp is such a disappointment otherwise.

10 of those 16 are spin-offs of the same two "characters" though.

Another 10 of those 16 are handheld games (5 of which are only up there because of multiple variations of the same game).

I'd be more interested in a list that was console exclusive.

Nah. The pokemon games are great games, and that's why they sell so well. If they were crap, they wouldn't be that high. Sure, i don't play them anymore, but I'm not ahamed to admit I did own pokemon red, yellow, and gold.

And excluding a game cause it's a handheld, (Especially a DS game, which costs 29.99) isn't right. They're quality games and a lot of fun to play. Hence their mass appeal, and thus incredible sales.

Make it fun, give it mass appeal, and attract all ages...Seems Nintendos on to something...

 

I've had multiple Pokemon games myself, they are great, but that doesn't mean that each iteration isn't pretty much the same game every time.

I said I'd at least like to see a top 20 console list and see if it is 8/10's nintendo.

Am i the only one thats a little saddened by the fact that there isn't ONE zelda game on that list? Possibly the greatest and most consistent series in gaming and not one of them is a top 20 seller of all time.

 

You would think that Ocarina of Time or the original would be on the list.
