Lost in all the free agency talk is news of what compensatory picks will be awarded. Hope Dolphins can get at least a 5th, and a 4th if we are lucky.

Supplemental picks don't get awarded per se.
Compensatory picks will be announced omorrow though, and the thinking is that we will get a 4th.azfinfanmang and sports24/7 like this. -

There's been talk that we could get as high as a fourth. Now of course, thats at the VERY end of the fourth round, but still a great chance to get a developmental player.

One blog that employs a method they supposedly learned from another guy who was infamous for his accuracy in predicting compensatory picks says we're getting a 4th for Kendall Langford.
The major tenets of consideration are the following:
1. Player must have had an expiring contract, can't be a cut. On the bright side, if you sign a guy that was cut, it doesn't count.
2. Player must make more than $1 million a year.
3. Players lost will be sorted by contract values. From top to bottom a player lost will be canceled out by a player gained that makes as much or more than the player lost.
4. Player must have made the Week 1 roster.
5. Once you've isolated a player that fits the above criteria and was not canceled out by a signing, the round of the pick received will be dictated by contract value, playing time and post season honors.
The last part is what I think is obviously the trickiest. But the blog says Langford should draw a 4th rounder. -
I know this, the Mike Wallace ($12 mil/yr) signing is going to cancel out the Jake Long loss ($9 mil/yr) next off season. So don't go thinking we're necessarily going to get a great pick because we lost Jake Long to a big contract.
In fact, I doubt we get anything. Dannell Ellerbe cancels out the loss of Sean Smith ($6 mil/yr) because Ellerbe's contract is greater ($7 mil/yr). Wheeler cancels the loss of Anthony Fasano ($4.0 mil/yr). Keller cancels the loss of Reggie Bush ($4.0 mil/yr). We still don't know what Brandon Gibson's contract will be worth, but I imagine it'll cancel Tony McDaniel whenever he signs.
We'll see if Nate Garner gets above $1 million a year, but as I assume we're not done with free agency ourselves...I do not expect a compensatory pick next year.Frumundah Finnatic and Lee2000 like this. -
