This season is done. Too many injuries. At this point I'd honestly have the Dolphins forfeit every last game, get everyone healthy, and figure out next year. Pointless playing any more games.
EDIT - Not completely pointless. Gase could empty his bench, use it as an evaluation season. But these injuries are getting ridiculous.
Completely unjustified thought I've been pondering - is Gase' up-tempo focus leading to injuries? Do they have guys rushing in and out of everything during practise?
It's probably just random, but then again...Surfs Up 99 likes this. -
And they keep coming. Literally someone else EVERY week. I think its something to do with the training staff, but who knows.

There has to be something we aren't doing conditioning wise to lose all these people for the season. A big part of this is probably the league practice rules really hurting the conditioning of these player's bodies. Then again, not everyone in the league has THIS many injuries on their teams, especially season-ending ones.

Redskins have 12 on IR
Bucs have 10
49ers have 9
Seattle has 11
Steelers have 10
Raiders have 11
Pats have 13
KC has 14
Jax has 14
Indy has 12
Dallas has 12
Carolina as 9
Ravens have 12
Nearly half the league as around the same amount of players on IR. Question is, are their players as important to their teams as ours?KeyFin, djphinfan, Surfs Up 99 and 1 other person like this. -

I agree. Going through the motions, IMO, isn't good enough. Players learn to take a hit, avoid a hit, and test their own limits by going full (or nearly full) speed. This walk-through, no hitting crap is bad for the game.Surfs Up 99 likes this. -

Like how many teams are missing 3/5ths of their starting oline? Or two or three of their starting receivers?

We're obviously not the only team that's been hit with injuries, but as i've said before....The only true way to overcome injury issues (losing skill position players) is to have good consistent quarterback play. The Green Bay Packers could have injuries all over their roster. As long as Aaron Rodgers is healthy and playing, they will have a chance to beat anyone in the league. Same with teams like Carolina and Cam Newton, or even Atlanta with Matt Ryan. So while injuries are a legitimate excuse, they can be overcome if you have stability at the quarterback position. Once we finally do get "our guy" (be it 2019 or 2039), the injury plague that hits every team in the league at some point will be easier to deal with and overcome.

I'm going to extremely disagree with Cam and Matt Ryan. Rodgers, maybe, but with 3/5ths of his line down and 2 of his main starting receivers down and 3rd main receiver or for 5 or 6 games, I don't even see Rodgers willing his team to too much...for instance, they're 3-3 right now,

If it has no effect on injuries then we should go back to the old rules because the level of play, especially on the OL, is down. -
The new coach/regime, whoever it is, is going to probably have to cut some high draft picks. Tank for sure. probably Harris, and maybe Raekwon. Its going to be painful that we missed on all of those picks. But it is what it is. We have to use those resources to try to get better.
I think my first choice would be Jim Schwartz. At least our defense would be tougher than it is now. I am so sick of the Fins being the pansies of the NFL. -
-
In Miamis case the depth was not very deep. Those 10 were a big part of what they were trying to do and the back ups just don't do the job.
-
Tank has shown promise, but he hasn’t lived up to his potential. He was a 3rd round pick, however. Are you expecting him to be the next Dion Sanders? Lol
Harris isn’t JJ Watt, and it seems like the Dolphins passed up better players for him, but if you watch him play he’s not a bust. He does need to get better though.
And McMillian is coming off an ACL and is 8 whole games into his NFL career. Proclaiming him a “miss”, at this point, is just funny. -
I particularly remember the 3-a-days at Nova high (which ironically is right next to where the Fins practice) to start the year- we'd show up at like 9 AM, practice for two hours, run a mile before lunch, practice for three more hours, run sprints, then another 2-3 hour practice followed by another mile and more wind sprints. We constantly stretched as well and I think when you're losing 5 pounds of sweat in the average practice, conditioning and hydration was absolutely everything as an athlete....especially in South Florida.
The way the NFL practices these days is dangerous...they really don't run anymore, sweat all day in the sun or get a feel of the rhythm of the calls at game speed. Of course it's increased injuries and it's also why Miami ALWAYS starts slow. You can't get into outdoor game shape hanging out in an air conditioned building all day. -
However, if you look at the injury rate per hour of football activity, then logically that rate must be going up because the injuries are staying the same but practice hours are down. Game hours of course are stable.danmarino likes this. -
Harris isn't JJ Watt? No, he's not. Neither is he Cameron Malveaux. If Harris meets your standard as a first round pick, then you and I just disagree on what first round picks should offer.
If McMillan isn't healthy, then shut him down. If he is healthy, play him. If you play him and he plays like this...he's a "miss".
I hope that's broken down enough for you. -
I’d attempt to explain my last post to you, but that post was already written rather simply. I’m not sure if I could dumb it down any further.
I will say, however, that you’ve explained to us all that you don’t understand concepts, plays, angles, schemes, etc. Maybe you should at least try to understand something before you make an opinion public? And if you refuse to educate yourself, maybe you should be more willing to change your opinions?adamprez2003 likes this. -
