SamphinNew MemberMeh. No sleep lost over Ted Ginn here. Good for him and the Niners. He didn't do squat for us and was hated by everyone of us (including the ones who are now jumping off of a cliff because of one great game). He HAD to go. We wouldn't be any better with him, but might be worse.
DisgustipateSupporterHe s not even a good returner- he has one or two good games a year and then has a mediocre per return average. Its not really worth the couple of touchdowns for mediocre return yardage and average.
DePhinistr8Forum VeteranI'm happy for the guy, and I don't really care if he stayed or went. Kid was sort of a victim of his draft status. He shouldn't have ever been picked where he was and was never going to live up to his draft position.
With that said, I didn't like him as a receiver at all.

TBH, one of the unexplored questions is whether a single player, who "wins' one game out of 16 is worth a roster slot?
That I have no answer to, imo a Returner still has to do more then dominate one game, ST is normally good for 1 or 2 wins per yr, for a returner to be worth it they have to do it twice, if not more, imo.

I think a player like that is worth a roster spot. I don't know why some coaches seem to dislike having a guy that is exceptional at returns only.
Kinda like how Chicago had Hester as a return demon, and have been trying to turn him into a WR. Early on in Hester's WR growth they took away his return duties, and I think the team suffered for it. Last season he resumes his return duties (along with still playing WR) and probably swayed at least 2 games in the Bears favor with his returns.

Ginn is the Man. Not the first time he has taken two back in a game. Say what you will but the man is sooo Fast! Still wear my ginn jersey aand love watching him play!

Well, starting field position is such an edge to have as well, but only a team with a settled Wr corps and OL really can carry one, ditto on the Dline/secondary.
To carry one as active you have to be willing to sacrifice that 8th OL/6th DE/#4 Wr/9th Lb.

TiP54New MemberSoooooo ****ing what. He was a TERRIBLE receiver. Nolan Carrol, who we got with the 5th round pick we got for him not only had a better overall KR average last year, he actually....wait for it.....CONTRIBUTED AT HIS POSITION.
With that said, Ted Ginn will always have a special place in my heart for showing up to play the Jests! lol
