*shrug* Hindsight is better than 20/20. Look at how many teams passed on Colston and Brady.

Some writers are still butt hurt from last year. Better check his mock from last year ;)
Like the writer himself said, he missed on a backdraft with Mario Williams last year. You got to wait at least 3, at a minimum two (but don't, it's 3!) years to judge a draft.Ducken likes this. -

I asked my magic 8 ball who we'd draft and it said "Try Again Later" so I asked again and it said "It Is So" Now I'm really confused, I hope my forture cookie from lunch has the answer.

The writer doesn't even explain the logic for the free falls suffered by many prospects. It's illogical, IMO. Anthony Gonzalez goes higher than Ginn because he has Peyton Manning throwing him the football in one of the league's sharpest offensive systems. Yeah, OK.
When will people realize how much of the NFL Draft is based on potential.......potential that usually takes 2-3 years to be proven? -

So you would take Ginn over Bowe?? -
Yea, I mean look how great Quinn played last year!! ---oh wait he only played 3 series the whole season??

ESPN resently did a re-draft of the 2005 draft and they had us picking Demarcus Ware instead of Ronnie Brown

I still would have taken Quinn over Ginn. I have maintained throughout that a pickup of Brady Quinn and Steve Smith in the second round would have been better building blocks than Ginn/Beck. But whatever. No sense in discussing last year's draft, it is over and done with. I would much rather focus on the arguments sure to spawn from this year's fiasco.

Ginn, with an ouce of special teams help, will have like 5 tds next season on returns alone.
what'd he have 3 tds called back this year? -

Because of holding penalties I think he had two bought back. But who is to say that those holding penalties aren't what sprung him (waits for a response from ck...). -

this one was behind him.. I think.. I cannot see any infraction that brpke him lose anyway

I don't play the play back game, because you can do that with every pick......every year.
What if Bowe pulls a Michael Clayton? We don't know yet. It's far too early. Give Ted Ginn a shot to prove himself. People forget that he was what, 21-22 last year? He's young, and young to the position of WR as well.
I love Dwayne Bowe -- know him personally. But he wasn't even considered top 10 last year.Last edited: Apr 11, 2008 -
Hogwash Ginn is going to very very special for us and the NFL. With the ST help we have brought in so far by seasons end ESPN will be all over Ginn.

I'm as starved for football related stuff to occupy my mind as most but this just takes it too far. There has to be other stuff a lot more worthy to write about. This is called being lazy. Honestly its probably something I would do. But then again I don't get paid by a major newspaper to write stuff. So I think I would raise my standards a bit if given that opportunity.
Actually I wrote a few columns for a local newspaper and I'd put them it up against this one in a heartbeat, particularly the one discussing the draft and why its pure speculation to judge drafts without sufficient time given to let them play. -
I just noticed they say the Cowboys could have "gambled" on a Hester-like return man. They are saying Ginn would be a gamble even at 26? Jesus you would think the guy never ran a route or caught a pass at OSU. If Ginn is a gamble Calvin Johnson is just a good prospect and Adrian Peterson could be a probowler.
Actually they could just be saying its a gamble to assume he is Hester part 2. But still, above Anthony Gonzalez? Please.Last edited: Apr 12, 2008 -
Yea the whole article reeks of garbage....they are trying to cast out the young guys who played, and annoint the guys who held a clipboard all year. -
-
The fact that he has Brady Quinn going to Miami pretty much says a lot about this article.
-
I don't remember exactly who said this, but this "re-do" reminds me of this old saying; " If I had known I would live so long, I would have taken better care of myself!"
Any idiot that thinks they can say that this is what everyone should have done has lost all credibiltiy as a sports journalist. This is just an amatuerish attempt to make him look semi-intelligent. -
The teaxns picked #10 in the draft that year and they said they would have taken him if we didnt so he wouldnt have fell
