"Production on Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is underway in New Mexico, and to kick things off, Warner Bros. and Halcyon have released an official synopsis of the film.
The plot outline for the fourth Terminator, directed by McG and starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington, is as follows:
In the highly anticipated new installment of The Terminator film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.
The film also stars Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, Charlotte Gainsbourg as Kate Connor, Moon Bloodgood as Blair Williams, Common as Barnes, and Jadagrace as Star."

The film, whose working title we won’t repeat because it’s just too damn long, recently went into production, with director McG at the helm.
McG we can take or leave, but Bale is a major asset to the Terminator franchise. The latest breaking news is that he’s signed on for a total of 3 films.

Bales a great choice, looking forward to this. DK as well.

May not be that bad, Bale really liked the script...
Christian Bale is to play rebel leader John Connor in three sequels to the Terminator franchise, BBC News reported.
The Welsh-born star, who is soon to be seen in the Batman Begins sequel The Dark Knight, has already started shooting the first of those films, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, the news service reported.
"He read the script, and he loved it, so he's signed on for all three," Derek Anderson, business partner of Halcyon films' Victor Kubicek, told the BBC.

We’ve officially started principal photography on Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. Like you guys, I’ve been a long-time fan of the series and I understand your passion for the Terminator movies -- and it’s my full intention to deliver a film that lives up to the previous three installments. I’ve spent time with James Cameron, spoken to Arnold Schwarzenegger, gone over the story with Jonah Nolan, and enlisted Stan Winston.
Everything we’re shooting is designed to be tactile and real, you’ll be seeing a whole set of inspired designs you’ve never seen before, and best of all you’ll finally get to see some of the post-judgment day future that was only hinted at in the previous movies.
John Connor will be pushed to the brink. And for me, Christian Bale embodies Connor’s strength and tenacity perfectly. And after visiting Sam Worthington on the set of Avatar, I know he’s perfect for his role.
As you know, Anton Yelchin is playing Kyle Reese, and his prep has been unbelievable. The guy's been watching all three Terminators incessantly and he’s definitely going to capture the essence of the character Michael Biehn created in Cameron’s first film.
We started principal photography with a sequence at Griffith Observatory. I've already seen a cut of it -- Anton and Sam are excellent. I’ll have more on that soon, and can’t wait to share some of what we’re doing with you all. Stay tuned for more.

Christian Bale is a great choice for "grown up" John Connor

I think Bale is an awesome choice, though I'll miss Arnold, whose role in the series is obviously going to be declining significantly, and that's sort of a problem. I mean, it's called "Terminator", not "John Connor".
I had hoped they would set up the fourth Terminator movie to dovetail with the Sarah Connor Chronicles TV series, which doesn't strike me as one that's going to go for more than a couple years. It would make sense, I think, to use the TV series to set up a series/franchise finale in Terminator 4. Think about how much better X-Files would have been if they'd done just that.Fin-Omenal likes this. -
i just have the feeling they paid out the nose for Bale, because the franchise is toe-ing the line with a downward spiral. T3 was significantly worse then its 2 blockbuster predecessors. and the tv show seemed to be not so well received. sara connor was never what made the franchise great for me. i think putting a show on that characters back, compounded with awkward casting, could've spelled doom. they need a great actor to save the Terminator name, and I can just see the Brinks truck backing up to Bale's pad. with his current resume, and another ginormous franchise going on, you know he could afford to be selective. im thinking he'll get a somewhat similar fortune to Keanu with the Matrix series, and all that juicy merchandising and points and the whole shabang.
I'd be surprised if they made it through all three movies without the governator(one of my all-time favorite personalities) showing up. that'd be very disappointing, if not even for some sort of decent cameo.Last edited: May 25, 2008 -

I await this film with much trepidation. I guess the best way to view it will be to look at it as an entirely new franchise. Being set in a post apocolyptic world it will not retain the feel of the original three movies. I'll see it in the theater, no matter what, I've seen them all on the big screen. I'll keep my mind open, put extra butter on the popcorn and hope for the best.

So Bale has made a couple of stinkers..you know what I mean..he usually doesn't make stinkers.
This is gonna be fine..it is all up to the script writers now. -

McG does Supernatural I believe

Plot rumor
From an AICN tipster“Alright so the main character is a cyborg named Marcus. For some background, Marcus was a criminal who was executed in 2003. He donated his body to Project Angel which was involved with SkyNet. They take his body and make a terminator out of him so he’s a terminator skeleton but has living muscle/skin and a beating heart too. At the end of the movie John Connor is fighting a T800 model 101 and loses. He dies and the top resistance people come up with a plan to help the resistance keep fighting on. The resistance feels that it’s important to keep the image or idea that John Connor is still alive so the resistance keeps going. So they rip off Marcus’ skin and put John Connor’s on the skeleton so now Marcus is John Connor

The Clinton News-Record has revealed that former bodybuilder Roland Kickinger will play the T-800 in Warner Bros. Pictures' Terminator Salvation, coming to theaters on May 22, 2009. Kickinger talked about his role in the film, quotes that should be considered spoilers:
This month, however, Kickinger begins filming what is likely the role of his life to date, as his portion of Terminator Salvation begins to take shape.
"There's a very strong scene in the film where John Connor for the first time meets the Terminator, and he doesn't know if he's a good guy or a bad guy," said Kickinger.
"It's Arnold's character in the first Terminator. That's basically my role, but 20 years before, so it establishes how the Terminator [came] about."
