I think this merits its own thread:
Now that Chad Pennington is out for the season, the odds are that he will no longer be a Miami Dolphin. He is in the last year of a 2-year deal and all signs point to Henne being the man.
I want to personally thank Chad Pennington for last year's stellar performance. Thank you Chad for the steady leadership and all the third-down conversions. Thank you Chad for the lack of interceptions and no stupid mistakes. Thank you for being a class act and thank you for your help getting Henne ready.
Most of all, thank you Chad Pennington for your leadership and your calm. I hope you one day return to this organization as a coach. Whatever you do, I'm sure it will be a success. I never thought I would be a Chad Pennington fan, but I'm now proud to be one.
ps- jets still suck!

Even if it was only 1 season- There was more magic and excitement last year than we had felt the previous 8.
Thank you Chad.dirtywhiteboy, dolfan7171, HULKFish and 12 others like this. -

Indeed, I appreciated what Pennington brought to our organization last year and hopefully what he taught our future at QB.

A season I will never forget, i was there for the Jets game redemption. Chad, despite your weaknesses, you were a great QB for us. I hope he stays to coach us personally. I would rather have him at offensive coordinator than Henning haha

Well said. With all the knocks against Pennington, and even with an 0-3 start, beating the Jets last year in their house after coming off a 1-15 season was one of the greatest moments in Dolphins history.
So we salute you Chad Pennington.SargeZ33, Phinvader Bill, mullingan and 1 other person like this. -
Agreed wholeheartedly.
As I mentioned in another thread, does anyone have an address we can send some fan mail to? Never done it before, but I seriously think this deserves an exception. Heck, maybe we can all pitch in and send him one of those huge get well soon/thank you cards.dolfan7171, SargeZ33, anlgp and 4 others like this. -
As much as I couldn't stand the guy when he played for the jets...he sure made last season one hell of a roller coaster!!! THANK YOU Mr. Pennington

The best Dolphins quarterback in the post-Marino era just tore up his shoulder.
If given a choice between Brett Favre and Chad Pennington, we made the right choice. Despite his Hall of Fame talent and strong arm, no way Favre and his 23 INTs nor his unfamiliarity with the offense would have been able to get this team to a division championship.
Few QB's could have done it for us. Coach Sparano talks about the right 53. Chad Pennington was the right QB for us. We were a young, rebuilding team that wasn't all that talented offensively and sorely lacked leadership. Jason Ferguson said Chad became the team leader his first day at practice. And his smart, mistake-free game kept willed a less-than-stellar offense to a division championship.
I hope he stays around the organization. In my dream world, Henne explodes and Pennington becomes a player/coach, re-signed to be the #2/#3 guy and ease into coaching.dolfan7171, SargeZ33, HULKFish and 12 others like this. -

Jason Garret got started with his coaching career with us didnt he? I remember him being like the 3rd stringer but never really playing. Then he eventually became a coach. Maybe Pennington will do the same.

Thank You Penny for being a a great leader and taking the Phins to heights we as fans only dreamed of. He has been a stand up guy and was tutoring the young QBs, so many vets today would not do that.

I would seriously be stoked if he came on as a backup QB/coach. He may not have been with us the longest, but he was with us last, and unlike some other fans of other teams, we don't cast one of our own out into the cold because he got battered up. That banged up nose and torn up shoulder are badges of honor if you ask me. -
seriously though, for at least one season he gave us fans a reason to be proud of our team again after a long time of no pride. thank you very much chad pennington.

Much love and major props to Pennington. However I can't say I'm sad to see Henne at the helm. The future is now. Even if we end up with a losing record this year we will be vastly improved next season.

Thank you Chad Pennington, in my heart you are right there with Bob and Dan. I hope you will stay, in some form, on our team. If not, then all the best to you for you truly are a CLASS act!

Thanks for everything Chad, I really hope we can bring him in as a coach one day.

What he did for this organization last year is without question one of the most amazing stories in recent NFL history.
Hopefully the team does him pround and turns the season around. I for one don't buy the media hype this team is better than it's 0-3 record. Make the man proud.
Thanks Chad, I hated you as a Jet and loved you as a phin! -
Thanks Chad for your efforts, your dedication and your heart that you brought to this organization. Let's hope that enough of your great qualities, and leadership have rubbed off on other players like Chad Henne. It has been a pleasure for what you did for our organization last year. A class act. I wish you nothing but the very best in life!:wink2:

i love penny and what he has done. he's a great leader, and all heart. its selfish of me, but I would love for him to retire a dolphin even if its next year. if not then good luck, hope you find your way back to the dolphins in some way.

Threads like this and posts like all of the ones in this thread are why I think thephins is a place that can't quite be matched by any other site around. I only wish there was some way to send a thread like this to Pennington who must be feeling extremely low right about now and needs the pick up.
I only hope Pennington doesn't focus on what could be a career ending injury or feeling like he let the team and fans down...because he didn't. Like others have said, Pennington gave Miami fans a reason to be proud of being a Fin fan last year after so many years of disappointment especially coming off the worst year in franchise history.
Although taunted by Jets fans and distrusted by many in Miami (even I was a early opponent to the signing) Pennington overcame all that to win over the Miami fans. As shown in this thread fans already regard Pennington as a top Fins QB and after only one year that says a lot.
In the end it looks like Pennington's time in Miami was too short and instead of riding out of Miami with a shoulder injury I wish he was riding out of Miami this February on the shoulders of his teammates. Fairy tale endings rarely ever occur but for Miami if only for one year we had our fairy tale season with Pennington leading the way. I don't know what the future holds for Pennington but I wish him all the best and want to say thanks for the one season which Miami fans will never forget.Frumundah Finnatic likes this. -
It's all been said so I will just add my Thank You Chad.

there's nothing more that can be added to the opening post of this thread. i concur 100%
I believe Pennington will be a huge asset to the development of Henne, specially since Henne is the man by default right now. I believe Pennington will be all up in Henne's ear on the sideline and i also believe Pennington will cheer louder than anyone on the team. He will still be our leader even though Henne will be starting.jetssuck likes this. -
Could not have put it better. I am absolutely gutted about Chad and would love to see him stay here as a coach. -
Chad, you brought a confidence and coherence to the offense that had been missing for years... I just pray that you gave enough time and energy into Henne!
Thanks CP! -
thank you chad. hope you stick around, either as a coach or mentor!

Perfectly said

Chad has displayed everything a consumate professional needs to display. He not only brought us stability at the QB position along with our AFC East Championship, but he has taken the time to mentor his eventual replacement. You can probably count on one hand how many QB's would do that in this day and age. So yeah, a big THANK YOU to Chad Pennington!

Ive never had to endure the season ending, possibly career ending loss to one of my favorite players. This has been an extremely difficult week for me. I feel so badly for Chad, I wish there was a way I could personally thank him for the incredible season he gave me last year. I will wear his jersey this weekend in his honor and hope to see him on the sidelines. Chad, you are what every kid aspiring to play in the NFl should model themselves after. I hope you can make your mark and take your smarts for the game to the coaching ranks. But I think you should give it a shot if you are healthy enough to come back! Thanks for the memories and thank for inspiring me to learn from my adversities and take losses as lessons and turn them into positives. Alot of what you do and say also effects those off the field. God bless you.

I saw something this weekend that moved me before you got hurt. I saw Aqua/Orange and alot of dedication. I saw a man that was and I think will always will think of himself as a DOLPHIN. And a hero in every Phins fan heart everywhere.
I hope I see you in the sidelines this year motivating the team and the crowd like you do. I hope you continue to wear the Aqua and Orange for the rest of your long career that you have ahead of you in football.
You were discarded in NY, and found a permanent home in Miami. And I hope everyone that wears the #10 Pennington Jersey wears it to the games proud. The fans and the team need you.dolphindebby likes this.
