I just don't understand this coaching staff sometimes. It's as if they don't understand the abilities of their own players. How do can they think that Bess on an end around is a good idea?

they must've saw something in the defense, but still...end around with bess?

They should take that play out of the playbook and have a ritual burning.
That play has NEVER worked, to my recollection. It works against Bess's strengths, and our Receivers (read: Ginn, Fasano, Haynos) simply don't block well enough in space to make it work given Bess's lack of straight-ahead speed.Firesole likes this. -
My guess is: They didn't trust Ginn to run that one, given his crappy cleats (or was it him not being able to keep a steady center of gravity when turning)
But yeah, that play was a bit of a headscratcher. -

why bess why then
henne was on fire
just stupid play calling -
You'd think that by the 4th quarter Ginn would have figured out that he needed longer cleats in order to execute the moves he wanted to make.
Or, after practicing and playing in rainy Miami for 3 years. :rolleyes:jetssuck likes this. -

Exactly. The coaching staff calls the plays, the players are suppose to execute them.BigDogsHunt likes this. -

Even if that is the case, knowing the Bess hurt his ankle earlier in the game, why try it? I'm not sure, all I know is we won, we overcame it and the other turnovers and came out with the win. -

It was a horrible play call and should never be ran again. -
I don't get why anyone would be upset with using Bess on an End around. Besides the obvious "It didn't work" its a good call. Bess is cut from a mold very similar to Welker and the Pats use him on end arounds all the time. Bess is our punt returner, as well as our receiver and as such possesses (at least in the eys of the coaches) good ball skills. So using him on a play like that is right up his alley. It's also the same reason they like to use him on buble screens (exactly the same reason the Pats love to use Welker on them I suppose).
I Like Bess as much as the next guy but the only thing wrong with the play was its execution.BigDogsHunt and xphinfanx like this. -
how much time a week do you put in with the miami players at practices?
how much do they? -
It was one questionable call, if he had been tackled and not fumbled no harm no foul. If he had busted it for a touchdown you would all be saying it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

The only thing wrong with that play was having a playing who is slow running an end around. I wouldn't agree if they had Fasano or Haynos either.Skeet84 likes this. -

Um...how often do the bubble screens to Bess work? Seems to me they work very rarely. Bess is not as fast as Welker...comparing Bess to Welker is silly, IMO. I rage every time they run that stupid bubble screen to Bess. Throw a screen to Ginn.

Thats not true at all. The fumble does not bother me nearly as the play itself. Your taking a quick but not fast guy at all and running a play that takes a ton of speed to execute. I very much question that call whether he fumbles or not.fins4o8, 2k5 and BuckeyeKing like this. -
