''Former Virginia Tech quarterback Tyrod Taylor is determined to prove he can play the same position in the NFL, but he might increase his stock over the next few days if he opens up to the possibility of playing wherever his athleticism takes him.''
His private workout is scheduled for March 30th....
Ive had him in my mock from the get, I think hes worth it, because Iam all for the continuation of this formation on our team, so its good to see Irish bringin him in..Prepare to fall in love Mr. Irish..This kid is electricly quick, sudden, and its all packed on a 6'1 210 lb frame, and, has some really nice passing mechanics..
If Irish wants to be GM of the year, than convince this kid at the workout to become our WCQBX to start, than promise him a chance later.
Ckap/Tyrod taylor....Double up on the position...Those two skillsets on the same team..man would I go there if I was Daboll and coach... maybe they will, I dont see how one isn't going to fall in love in a private Tyrod Taylor workout.
Multidimensionaloffensivehybridtheory is back....

No way would I want to double up. Especially if it involved CKap, which would require our first round pick (or the earlier of the two if we're able to trade back).
Obviously, I want Ryan Mallett, but I keep forgetting Brian Daboll is our new OC.
Colt McCoy has the same exact measurables as TT, so one has to wonder why he couldn't work the same magic here (with a better prospect). We have better everything than Cleveland did, with the exception of runningback. In all fairness, Peyton Hillis had to do a lot with Cleveland's late-season competitiveness, but one has to wonder what Mark Ingram in the first and TT in the 3rd or 4th would make our Dabollian offense like.
I've had a lot of love-interests... it began with Locker, then Newton, now Mallett... I'm not ready to get off the Mallett-wagon yet, but I love the prospect of TT.
Do it up. -
Jeez, these people never seem to learn.

Just start off doing everything ya know, if your as talented in that dept as you think you are, you will get that chance to run the team at some point, but for now, come in with an open damn mind, it also might make you more money if you did in terms of draft position.. -

Imo, I dont believe your comment from what this formation has accomplished in the NFL, is fair..especially to the team that brought it to the game, your comments do not take into account the impact it had on our history...Division championship, and a great year.. -

What's your plan for round 1?
I'm not as much a fan of trading down as most, as I think it's settling for mediocrity. We have a lot of good pieces and I think wild card is possible with a good offseason... We need to get the most out of #15.
If we take anyone other than Newton, Mallett, Gabbert or Ingram at 15, I'll be pretty pissed. If it's Ingram, I want TT later..or Locker if he somehow fell. Actually, dream scenario would be one of the QBs (probably Mallett or Locker) falling into the 2nd after we took Ingram and then us trading up into the 2nd to nab him.
...But yeah, I wouldn't be upset with TT. I think Daboll could make him a star. -
''Both quarterbacks are extremely talented, and they've got good playmakers around them," Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh said Sunday. "I definitely think (Taylor) has more than a shot (to succeed in the NFL). He's a really accurate thrower who has great eye discipline when he's out of the pocket, keeping his eyes downfield and making plays.
I agree Mr.Harbaugh.... you freakin bastard, lol.......man I wanted him as our coach, real bad..
He's a great talent OZman... -

To quote Stewie Griffin: "Those goosebumps will go away in about twenty minutes." -
Just to keep my excitement in some sort of perspective,I just want to say that I get excited about a player because of where I think I might be able to get him and how he could possibly impact our team from that draft position..I know the guy has flaws, his hitch is disturbing, but were talkin 6th round pick here, {thats where I have him in my mock}, and were a team that his skilllset fits, and the team that started the formation..
However, I need him to embrace the correct role of XToddsPhins likes this. -
As for the 1st pick, I'd like to see them trade back if they can. That's a lot easier said than done though. But the reason is because there is a lot of value in the 2nd round this year. If they don't drop too far back they still might be able to get Ingram or a Leshoure.
All the players you mentioned are fine in my book so if they cannot trade back and get one of them, I'm good.
I just don't see Newton or Gabbert lasting past pick 10, and I know you're high on Mallett but I'd have to think long and hard to take him or Ingram.
I know I've been pretty consistant saying I'm not sold on Chad Henne but I'm sure I've been even more consistant on how much I value running the football. However, if Julio Jones somehow gets past the Rams, I'd take him over Mallett or Ingram. -
I don't think Tony Sparano and Jeff Ireland would be long for the Miami Dolphins if Colin Kaepernick AND Tyrod Taylor are both drafted. I think Tyrod Taylor could be a Brad Smith type of player, but IMO, the Wildcat died a painful death last year and will continue to be dead until another triggerman is found.

Both were elite college players that were projected to fail in the NFL.
It's my belief, however, that TT is a better prospect, had an inferior team around him and is being pegged lower than McCoy was.
I remember some saying McCoy could go in the mid to late first, and he ended up going in round 3. There are people saying TT will go undrafted; that's insane. Based on potential alone, he should go in round 3, and I think that's where we should take him. That's not to say that that is where I feel his ceiling is, rather, that is what the market has dictated his price to be--let's not overpay. -
To make it effective, you need someone like Ronnie Brown that can essentially take the snap and run the Power O, the Iso, traps, etc. and churn out yardage; in essence, making it simply a power running formation as it was in 2008. Yeah, you can do some things out of it as Chad Pennington did and Miami tried to do with Brandon Marshall last year. Tyrod Taylor makes those plays better, but if you're simply making the formation fit around him, I think that's a waste of a pick and that the formation won't work...
...unless you couple that with a runningback to the the triggerman as Ronnie Brown was. IMO, to take Tyrod Taylor and use that formation, you have to get a player who can run it normally, such as Mark Ingram or re-signing Ronnie Brown. Tyrod Taylor by himself in that formation is Pat White part II, and he's certainly not going to challenge for a regular quarterback job any time soon, if ever, with his accuracy issues.
Personally, I think I'd rather make a run at Brad Smith, and that way you can at least use him as a WR and KR in addition to the Wildcat, not just for the Wildcat, as that's not maximizing your resources. Just my two cents. Now, Tyrod Taylor as an UDFA? Why the hell not? -

I think we'd be ready to compete. A tight end would be nice, but we can find one later... maybe Virgil Green. I doubt DJ Williams would still be there. -

And yes, Taylor does have a strong chance of going undrafted. I agree that it’s ridiculous, but it’s true. I’d use a 6th round pick on the guy and give Thigpen the bird. -
Why the frig did we discontinue the jet sweep?..Henning was a putz.. -

1) Because the main knock on both was their (lack of) height. They were both great in college. There's no doubt. Some of the draftniks just get into the mindset of "Oh well Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers are tall, so that means you have to be tall to be a successful QB".
2) Because the common denominator here is Brian Daboll. Both QB's are mobile, hard working and capable passers. He made it work with McCoy, he can make it work with Taylor. It's just a matter of, is the FO willing to take a shot on him after Pat White. Sometimes good business decisions aren't good PR decisions; naturally a large portion of the fanbase would be upset.
As for McCoy failing, here is a clip from Walterfootball, one of the, if not the, best draft site:

And yes, I’ve actually forced myself to watch Browns games for the GM League, so I know what I’m talking about here.

(I obviously know who they are, but they're awful. MoMa and Robiskie are both busts)
We haven't seen any of McCoy in the NFL without Daboll and we haven't seen Daboll work with any mobile QBs other than McCoy, so only time will tell. In either case, I think mobility is key to success (especially when the o-line is subpar).
Thankfully, this class of QBs is full of QBs that can move. -

As for Seneca, he put up very similar stats. -
No mobiles!
