I would like to bring in Robinson for sure. He's a quality CB.

Turner isnt the burner anymore...more like Turner the tortoise so we dont need him. Id prefer a player younger then Abraham but as a 1-2 year deal he can still be productive imo

 

Wow, I would be ok with any of those 3 at the right price. Smith would be a great get, Abraham still is a very good pass rusher regardless of how old he is, and Turner is not what he was, but could be a bruising complement to Miller if he's cheap.

 

This is yet again proof of why this is a great offseason to have a ton of cap space.

Dunta Robinson also probably adds another to a solid list of available corners which makes me all the more inclined to solve that problem through free agency rather than the Draft.

 

All except Turner can still play, and tbh, I'd take a look at Turner as a cheap depth signing.

Chris Houston for sure and Dunta at the right price. I would steer clear of Cary Williams.

 

I don't know if I'm all that interested in Dunta to be honest with you. I'm just saying that between Dunta Robinson, Cary Williams, Keenan Lewis, Aqib Talib, Brent Grimes, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Sean Smith, Derek Cox, Chris Houston and E.J. Biggers...this market is flush with corners and we should be able to pick the "right" ones to come here and help us nail that position down to where we don't feel obligated to make the 12 overall pick a corner.

One underrated corner I really want to do more work on would be Bradley Fletcher. He has definitely caught my eye in the past on tape, and his PFF stats of course look great. I just need to do more work on him and actually watch him play more football. I've mentioned before Chris Owens as an underrated guy I would sign, possibly Shawntae Spencer as well (vet's min).

It makes the most sense. In these situations with such an impactful injury, a guy would tend to be most comfortable playing his one-year "prove it" year in the same spot he's been playing, which gives him the best chance at success. They'll work something out to protect the Falcons in case he's not nearly the same player.

I think Fred Davis should end up the same way, re-signing in Washington.

 

Seeing that we met with the badger, if there is any real interest in signing him it might be wise to sign a free agent vet, I surely wouldn't want Smith as a mentor..

Sends up a major red flag that perhaps he doesn't quite have his head screwed on right yet...

 

Of all people I would think DJ would be the most likely to kill Mathieu for only doing 4 bench reps, with what that implies as far as his work ethic.

Larry, he was anything but mediocre at the combine, I watched his drills very closely, reverse, slow motion, three different times, he moves beautifully, naturally talent, instinctually unmatched, ball skills unmatched, he showed excellent technique in all his drills.

Bottom line, when you identify a player that has the potential to be special, that meets the needs of your team, and you might be able to get great value on the draft, all I'm saying, we shouldn't just blow it off...he's just that good, deserves a lot of scrutiny, but the talent deserves that the scrutiny be done.

I know CK, I know, but this is a full blown crush, and I've looked at his body type real close, your not gonna get that much more with this kind of build, the training I believe he did work on was speed and technique, it was evident in the drills, his technique was really spot on, and noone predicted a 4.4 for this guy, you could see in his forty how he was running with good stride, keeping his arms and elbows close throughout,he's the kind of player that is all about being light on his feet, graceful in his movement, probably really didn't work on the strength aspect, more about drills and speed.

I'm not here defending what he did, and I will probabaly be wrong, but he's an ultra talented youngster who got addicted to pot, this is a rare time where if I can drop a third on him, the reward outweighs the risk.

I'm saying he's too unreliable to be counted on. This isn't about morality.

He was supposed to be getting his act together after he got kicked out of LSU. He went to rehab. He had a baby about to be born and was having fluff pieces written by SI about how he's back on track and realizes what's important in life and needs to get his act straight for his baby, etc.

A week later busted with 8 baggies of weed in his apartment along with electronic scales and other obvious weed selling implements.

UNRELIABLE.

 

Is there no way you can risk on a players evolvemennt as a human being? Are you completed opposed to a person changing their life around, did you watch that link?, does he not give you hope that he sounds contrite and remorseful..

It's simple. With Mathieu you had an entire string of incidents, one after another, constantly crossing the boundary and doing wrong even when he knew he was on his last chance, and then his last-last chance, and then his last-last-last chance. He's kicked out of the program, that should've been a wake up call for him. That should have been his rock bottom. All this stuff about how he's got a baby on the way and he needs to do right by his child, get it together. He goes to rehab and he's supposed to be cured. Yeah. Right. And then he's caught with 8 baggies of weed in his apartment, along with sellers paraphernalia. You can be addicted to smoking weed. Nobody is addicted to selling weed.

With Marquess Wilson you've got only ONE incident, essentially. The coaching staff that was booted out of Texas Tech for abusing players, came into town and targeted him as the team's most talented player, the guy they wanted to make an example out of so that they can turn the program around. They grinded on him, humiliated him, picked on him, and eventually he decided he'd had enough and walked off the field during a punishment drill, and decided to quit the program. They didn't kick him out. They didn't want him to quit. He'd have been suspended for MAYBE one week if he stuck. He made the conscious choice to leave because he didn't agree with what they were doing.

The two situations are incredibly different.

And for the record, Mathieu has just as many instances of looking like a childish punk on the field as Marquess Wilson, if not more.

So as an evaluator, your telling me after watching that your just gonna stick with a series of events as your decision maker, I'll say that Wilson is different than TM, Wilson acted like a douche bag in national tv showing up his teammates and coaches in a disgusting manner, if that's who you take risks with over a kid that looks like he might just change, remoseful and contrite, who did his rehab, then I'm sorry, your a great evaluator of talent but the game sometimes takes more than that.

 

I think you believe what you want to believe here. You have romantic ideas and want to see the best in guys. Tyrann Mathieu is fooling you with his crocodile tears. But I know all the **** he's done and gotten in trouble for, the "last chances" he's had and squandered over and over again. I also know that he's at least as guilty of the behavior on the field you call "disgusting" as Marquess Wilson. I think you're taking a blind spot to it. He sounds remorseful and contrite? LOL. Sure he does. Anyone can. He sounded remorseful and contrite when SI did a featured piece on him after he'd gotten kicked out. He's trying to get his life together, do everything right, has a baby on the way. What happened to that? There was remorse. There was contrition. There were crocodile tears on his cheek.

And there were also bags of marijuana and selling paraphernalia in his house while those crocodile tears were streaming down his face.
