I said kill it.. But thats because I respect some others opinion on his play and they haven't been high at all on it.
I just wonder if they move him back to center.. Then what? -
-
I think the *** beating he took against Suh should be regarded as a pretty big strike against re-signing him. I want to see a better showing against elite talent from someone who is going to want big money. Especially when the player in question is an absolute dumbass and in danger of being suspended for any number of reasons.

I haven't been thrilled with it, but i don't know who we have that's any better. But DPate makes an excellent point; he's not looking anywhere near worth the money he's going to demand...
I'd like to kill it with fire, but not sure what to do in its place...Da 'Fins likes this. -

Best line right now is going to be:
LT James
LG Colledge
C Pouncey
RG Smith/Turner
RT Garner.
It's not ideal but were going to have to make that work. Right side will need TE help pass blocking but should be fine run blocking.
As for the question: I was never in favor of it. Kill it. Scrap it. Forget it ever existed. And pouncey needs to pull head from butt and play like the all pro he can play like. -

So if we moved him back to center, what would we be looking at?
James, Smith, Pouncey, Garner, Thomas? Ugh.
FFS...another year of O line suckage...looked at least slightly promising earlier in the year...yet its the #1 problem again. RT may have to take out some additional insurance on his career at this rate.Bpk likes this. -

I'd probably have to go James-Smith-Pouncey-Garner-James while Turner and Satele will have to be backups. Hopefully Turner steals one Guard spot. That's looking ugly at Guard -
I've wanted this killed since he returned and played as a G. He's better and appears was far more comfortable at C than he is as a RG.
-
His play so far leads me to believe that he returned from his injury too soon. He probably should have been placed on the IR for this season and come back at full health in 2015. He has played below average since his return to the playing field.
Unfortunately the OL remains the biggest area of concern on this team and it only got worse with the season ending injury to Albert.
Many people on this forum aren't going to like it, but the Dolphins look like they are going to have to use another first round draft pick in the 2015 draft to select another offensive lineman. -

Philbin is so stubborn..I have zero faith in him making a change for Pouncey back to center. In his opinion Pouncey is playing very well at RG.

It's a moot discussion. We have no choice. Our line is already hurting, and we can't afford to remove Satele at this point. Satele/Pouncey is better than Pouncey/Turner(?).
We already have Dallas Thomas at RT. Keeping Satele on the field and putting Pouncey next to Thomas is better than putting a rookie next to him. That right side of the line would be a dumpster fire...Springveldt likes this. -
Well the left side of the line is on the verge of becoming a dumpster fire anyway. There's three positions that should be pretty much for certain right now...LT James C Pouncey and RT Dallas Thomas. The guards you can argue all you want. We've taken one of the games best C's and made him a below average guard. We've taken an average center in his place and he's still average. We can have an all pro center and and still get average/below average guard play from an actual guard. Or Shelley Smith, Billy Turner etc could save our season

More people have an odd view of Pouncey's time in Miami, Suh was kicking his *** heads up, AFAIK that did not happen to Satele even once.
Could be the OL blocking scheme is easily decoded and Suh was getting a jump, he was man handling Pouncey who looks a bit small to be a RG -
I'm not sure of a reason why Pouncey would be worse at Guard that isn't also an indictment of his talent and ability.

It's OK for now, with the depleted line, until we let him walk for $greener$ pastures this offseason.

Didn't look good against Detroit but I think we need the smarts of he and Satele on the line. Given all the injuries, the inexperience, the fact that we are weak at both guard spots - I said keep him at OG because I don't think there are better options.
What I strongly dislike about Pouncey at this point is I think he plays on his talent alone and does not work to get in shape. He doesn't have to look like Arnold - but good grief, his entire upper body looks like a blob. Get some muscle and power up there.
I don't think - unless he gets bigger and stronger - he will be effective as a guard long term because he doesn't have power.
However, I don't see an alternative that is better. Certainly not Thomas or Smith. Billy Turner has talent but we are also weak at LG at this point and LT is a huge question-mark. -
I like the way Pouncey is playing, especially coming off of a major surgery. He was beaten by Suh a few times, for anyone who watches football with their eyes open that's nothing to be ashamed of.
-
I haven't isolated him enough at guard to have an accurate opinion, he never really blows me away even at center, he's a solid player..agree with Da'fin about his body, hes always Been light in the ***, and his upper body is inexcusably sloppy.

Basically Pouncey had a horrible day, it does not mean every game will be a horrible game, the Bills game is an excellent test of where he is at their DT's are no less daunting. -

Agree with Mr C, Pouncey is NOT "right' atm, still think he is overrated prior to the injury.
For example do tell me the drop off in play between Pouncey and Satele?
Not seeing it, Clay being dinged is hurting the offense, and Hartline not being targeted is hurting the offense, otherwise Satele v Pouncey is pretty much a wash at this point.
It may be Pouncey is playing himself into game shape, plain fact is, we need him to play better no matter the reason for poor play atm. THAT is the reality of the league.
