New York Jets (3-3) vs Miami Dolphins (3-2)
Sunday October 22, 2017; 1:00 pm on FOX
Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, FL
Weather; party cloudy skies, 87 degrees at kickoff with a passing shower in the forecast.
Odds: Miami (-3)
This Sunday, one of the modern day NFL's rivalries kicks off when the Dolphins host the New York Jets. This will be the 105th meeting of these two teams with the Jets holding a 54-49-1 lead in the series. The Jets defeated the Dolphins 20-6 at the Meadowlands on September 24th. The Jets last defeated the Dolphins in Miami back in December 2014. Although the Dolphins swept the Jets last season, since the 2000 season, the New York Jets have dominated the series 21-14.

I'll update the injury report on game day itself as it seems there are surprises popping up with 4 Dolphins that did not practice on Thursday.

When the Jets defeated the Dolphins in September, Miami's offense was no where to be seen, scoring the team's lone touchdown on a last minute desperation drive to avoid the shutout. Since that meeting, the Dolphins have gained some momentum but it's apparent the Dolphins are not going to be able to count on Jay Cutler nor its receiving corps to carry the offense. No, the Dolphins are going to have to put the offense on the shoulders of Jay Ajayi. The Dolphins are 3-0 when Ajayi has 25+ carries per game and in last week's game against Atlanta when Miami trailed 17-0 at the half, 15 of 25 carries for Ajayi came in the second half. No matter the score, Miami has to give Ajayi the ball. He is explosive and has the ability to turn short yardage into big gains.
My personal prediction...Miami 23 New York 17

Do yo guys realize by this time next week we could be 5-2 and atop the AFC? I see it happening. Two teams I hate the most in the same week. Heck yeah!
It's Jets week beaches!!! They need to destroy those busturds. I'm calling 2TD for Ajayi, 1 for Landry and one for Parker. 2 FG and a defensive TD for a 41-10 beat down.
DOLPHIN FEEDING TIME!!!
Edit: I think Drake may end up with Parkers TD, looks like Parker might not play.Last edited: Oct 20, 2017P h i N s A N i T y and Irishman like this. -
Here's the thing to remember- the most any team has dropped on us this year is 20, and after 5 games I think it's enough to call it a pattern. If anything, our secondary looks better now than it did a month ago. So in my opinion, we are going to win every game this year where Cutler can drive enough to put 21+ on the board.
That's the real question here- can we score 3 TD's against the Jets? I would hope the answer is a "yes". Can we score 21 on the Ravens, Raiders, Panthers and Bucs? I would hope the answer is a "yes" there as well. That means 8-2 is still entirely possible before facing off against the Pats.Puka-head, Irishman and cuchulainn like this. -

I sat through 4 hours of living hell last month...listening to that god forsaken chant over, and over, and over..
We best be righting that wrong this Sunday...nothing but a complete beat down will do.Puka-head, Fin-O and LI phinfan like this. -
I would love for you to be right, but the Jets have an underrated secondary and their linebackers have been performing above their talent level. I still think their linebackers are where you attack. Put an extra WR or TE on the field, put D Williams on them, etc. It'd be a way to get the ball out quick and have them guessing about which plays are runs and passes.

I feel we have started to turn the corner. I'm looking forward to a convincing 31 to 17 victory for Miami.

Heck no, the Jets basically just stomped NE and then had the win stolen away by an insane penalty (a fumble and a touchback when the ball was never dropped?). I can't even tell you how I'd react if it happened to us- that was worse than the Pittsburg fumble 5 or 6 years ago. The refs literally handed NE the win on a silver platter and I'm sure the Jets are going to come out swinging for redemption- they should be leading the East right now.
With that said, their offense is going to have a tough day against us. All we can hope for is a few turnovers to really swing things in our favor...or an explosion of productivity from Cutler/Ajayi. Any of the three get us the W.cuchulainn and Puka-head like this. -

I am afraid this game is the pivot point. Win Sunday and 11-5 10-6 starts looking doable. Lose twice to the jesters and it looks like a 8-8 year to me. I'm more worried about the Fluffy Ho's than the jest or the patsies right now, but if we can't beat the jest it's about over I'm thinkin. -
Jets vs. Dolphins is like a box of chocolates...You never know who's gonna end up looking like they ate a **** sandwich.

I disagree, he extended at least 1 or 2 scoring drives vs. Atlanta. He's a dependable pass-catching RB. I think Drake is the better zone runner out of the backfield however. But Williams continues to prove himself in the passing game.
This is likely his last year in Miami, so expect to see Drake get his touches next year. Right now, he's a special teamer and a relief back.Pandarilla likes this. -
We just need the fat guys up front to play with a little hate in their hearts. Ajayi will take care of the rest.

Anyone have a pill for this game?

Pouncey to start...

This too intrigues me. Fasano is a MUCH better blocking TE than Jones, so it'll be interesting to see what blocking schemes out of the WR position develop for Fasano to block for the J-Train.
-
Devante Parker's absence should be filled by Jakeem Grant. Julius Thomas should be on the bench, and Fasano should be starting at TE. That's what would excite me...

Let’s go Miami win today and Thursday and this season has a much better look about it. Get it done fellas.

Field looks awful. Tons of empty seats. What a shame.
