Who is a victim of this? The red ring of death has ruined my life. i paid for a kit to fix it and it worked for 1 week then the red ring of death came back! I feel like peeing on bill gates!

Anyway best of luck getting your 360 up and running again. -
i think I'm in the rare minority that as of yet (knock on wood... nay.... pound on wood) i haven't gotten the dreaded rrod. I've had my 360 almost 2 years now I suppose and so far it's been okay. maybe I bought one after they realized the issue or something? that or else it's just planning on completely assing me and ruining all my mass effect files that i've been working on beefing up to prepare for the ME2 release. we'll see..

i got it back in december.

I got it on my original release console but not on my elite *knock on wood of course*. My brother didn't get it either on his original console (but he just recently upgraded to an elite as well). My friend's and my cousin's never rrod'd either. I believe they attempted to fix it after the first gens. I was the only sucker I know to have bought an early one. You can get rrd by frying it yourself too, it isn't always the manufacturers fault (:pity: I can't believe I just said that). -
Yeah I havent had it happen on my elite either, grateful for that.
Dont buy do it yourself stuff, just send it back to microsoft and let them fix it. It takes time, but its better than something that will just break again. All indications are they know how to fix it now and it should work just fine when you get it back.
Not to mention, alot of home fixes will void the MS warranty. Be careful how you go about it. -
I have had it once, took two weeks to get it back.
-
Previous xmas it happended to me. Longest 3 weeks of my life!
-
3 times baby! At this point i say it like a badge of honor.
That or, ya know, cry. -

No problem so far.... I think a lot of it has to do with how well ventilated the console is and whether its in an extremely dusty environment.
I have a buddy who has had to send his in like 4 times but he was keeping it in a confined space in a house that is very dusty as well as having an indoor wood burning stove. Pretty much all their electronics fry. -
 We lost a lotta good consoles out there

i agree with the ventalation, i have mine away from my reviece, with nothing around it and laying flat. i also use canned air and clean the vents every so often, just to help. going on two years so far. -
well i figure if it ever breaks again and M$ won't fix the worst thing that happens is you buy an arcade version for 150 since u already got the HDD and everything...

Just my $0.02... Even in your current position, you can still do it. :knucks: -

Happento me in 07. Shipped it back and it has been fine since.

I think you can still send it in but they will charge you for the repair instead of doing it for free (if under warranty)

I fooled around, lived too risky, played it dangerous...and got myself RRODS.
Is there still no easy home fix for this? -
Something i forgot to throw in... Make sure there's 3 red lights on the ring and not 4. 4 rings means a faulty AV cable or the cable isn't in right.
