We lost to a first place team on the road. Would of been great to get the win but we are still in it. The steelers loss to the jets was big. The good news is that it was a non conference loss. We are still 4-2 in the conference with the best record out of the wildcard teams besides the chiefs. Unfortuneately this means we do need to steal one vs the pats or broncos and win the games we should in order to get a playoff spot.

It's not the loss as much as the way we lost. Just like the Packers game. We had it until the very, bitter end.
Big game Thursday. We need to come out ready and wanting revenge.Da 'Fins, Bpk and HogsHDFinsfan like this. -
Teams that consistently make the playoffs win these types of games.

All I know is, we are getting better every year. Injuries are just messing us up big time. I would be okay with losing this game if we didn't lose Albert, losing him makes this game so much worse for me.

I agree its not the end of the world. I'm just more pissed off that we are going to have to endure all the negative threads this week. The loss of Albert sucked, but we did a decent job filling in his shoes. Detroit definitely has a better pass rush. Just like the movies, Megatron struck first but Ultimus Grimes took care of business for the most part. We didn't get our butts kicked, we loss a close game to a good team. We have to win those type of games if we wanna be serious contenders though. I still think we will make the playoffs, but I have doubts about winning in the playoffs.

I felt like Detroit should of won. They are a good team, @ home, after their bye week. It sucks to lose in the manner we did though. Another game we couldn't close out. But what really stings is the loss of Finnegan and Albert. Our secondary was much weaker after Finnegan left. And we lost a pro-bowl LT. Don't think that one needs an explanation...

Detroit's a really good team. Can we stop acting like Miami hasn't beat any good teams this year? The schedule has been rough and will be for the next few weeks.

It was great the way they climbed back to take the lead, playing awesome D and that specials teams block. But we did not have any rhythm on offense all game, could not get anything going from the first snap.
41 attempts 19 rushes. Lazor once again was afraid to allow the Oline to play physical up front and stick with the run more, and we ended up with less than 20 points, again, under the same unbalanced Lazor recipe.
I think 2 of the 3 sacks were blown plays. On one of them RT ran right into 2 unblocked defenders. Either he did not get the call right or the Oline did not get the call right. Oline is depleted. Things like that piled up to affect efficiency, in addition to Lazor putting the Oline back on their heels all game.
Loss is not disappointing. Loss of Albert is disappointing, and not playing balanced offense was disappointing.
We know we have some young DBs who are struggling to make the transition and they were forced to play today. Wake and Vernon putting no pressure was disappointing.
On the 3rd down play at 5 min drive, RT runs to his right and is late to find Landry, the pass is broken up, we punt.
On the TD attempt to Clay, RT rolled right and was late with that pass as well. When he rolled today, he was late because he was looking elsewhere, he was uneasy perhaps. RT was not on top of his game today. These are the growing pains.Piston Honda and speed like this. -
This loss isn't the end of the world, but a loss to Buffalo will. Good luck going on the road to Denver and New England. You need to go at least 10-6 in the AFC this year. 5-5 going into Denver would not be fun. Must win. -
As far as this team getting better, they are one game better in their won-loss.after nine games than they were last year. Whether they will end the season better than last year is still to be determined.
To me it all about the teams record and whether or not they make the playoffs. Until they actually have a winning record and make the playoffs, it is far to early to say if this team is better than it has been in recent years.finwin likes this. -

I was also impressed with Wallace, Landry, Clay, RT, coming back, staying in it, in spite of being punched in the mouth early and throughout. It was good to see that kind of power and resolve, to raise the physicality and compete. That's a good sign.RGF likes this. -

No it'll be the end of the world when we get swept by Fluffalo on Thurs.

Let's be honest we're the 11th seed right now, we're not going to the playoffs. All this optimism is just ridiculous. Patriots already won the AFC East, Chiefs keep winning & the Bills will lock up the 6th seed. Tannehill is 1-4 against the Bills. The last time we beat a Peyton Manning led team was 2002 & the last time we beat the Ravens was 2007 which was our only win that season. Best case scenario we finish 8-8 with some pride.

Haven't been to the playoffs since 2008, last time we won a playoff game was 2000 with Jay Fiedler at the helm. Tannehill 20-21 as a starter that's mediocre at best. -

Exactly. Watching this game today makes one believe we are the same old Dolphins...Wannstedt, Sparano, Philbin...I don't see any difference in this team. Hopefully I am wrong. We'll know Thursday.

True we lost a close game to a good team...but at some point we have to actually win these kinds of games. What hurts is that we shoot ourselves in the foot much more than we truly get beat. From Philbin's questionable timeouts to guys dropping catches and D's untimely collapsing, we've got to get it figured out. As others have said, we lose Thursday and we can stick a fork in the season.

There is a "general feeling" that losing to Detroit is ok, because they are a good team. Perhaps, but projections are that it will take ten wins to make the playoffs. If we lose to NE and DEN (good teams, like Detorit and GB)...we have to run the table against everyone else. How likely is that?
