Could Haynesworth end up in Miami if no deal is reached before his FA on the 27th. .
Would you all be happy for him to come over or do you think we should go in a different direction?
Is his temper too much for a parcells led regime. .

WOW! Haynesworth and Porter on the same D would be volitile and scary! I don't know though, if they had him in maybe they could have some success without the ugliness returning. Happens every year and him and Ferg would be a HELLUVA combo! If I had to choose though I'd rather sign Karlos Dansby or both would be a dream!

I would LOVE to have Haynesworth in Miami. He may be THE most dominant defensive player in the league, period.
That being said... the chances of the Titans letting him test free agency are, IMHO, extremely slim... and if he does, in fact, hit free agency, we'd be in a bidding war with over half the league to land him. His contract is going to be ridiculous.phinfanuk likes this. -

I don't think the price is worth the risk. There's no denying when he's in, he's an incredible football player but you really have to trust he'd stay healthy and for that kind of mega contract he'll be asking for i dont' think its worth it. Give me 3-4 younger healthier players at several positions anyday.Colorado Dolfan likes this. -

does he give 100% all the time?
after he gets the big money does he shut down?
i'll bring in young guys who are chomping at the bit to get an NFL job. -
The man is a beast at his position, much respected by the rest of the NFL in terms of his talent, i dont feel a strong vibe about him though, is he a team player?, can we repsect his personality?, iam not the kind of fan that will sell my soul just for talent.

Dominant players just don't grow on trees. I'm very confident in Ireland and Parcell's drafting acumen, but they're not perfect. I don't know if Haynesworth is the guy for this team, but sooner or later we're probably going to have to make at least one investment in a free agent that's a proven commodity. -
I really dont want Albert Haynsworth. I would like to get younger and Albert Haynsworth some time can be a distraction.

How do we pay for this guy? We have many of our players to resign, so I can't see how would could afford this guy.

Haynesworth
 As said in a previous post! Haynes and Porter on same D would be wicked.
I'd love him to come def what team would not want him?
:theman:Porter and Haynesworth we can dream! -
It would be difficult for me to be disappointed or upset if we were to sign arguably the best defensive lineman in the league.

Really? I could easily argue that all day long. Exactly what are you basing that VERY bold statement on? I MIGHT consider him top 8 defensive tackle, but best overall defensive lineman in the league? Sorry, not even close. Probably not the best on his team alone.
IF he were that, do you think the Titans would pass ways with him so quickly? -
Everyone wants a young version of Haynesworth. The problem is that its very unlikely we will get that in the draft. Even if we did you won't see that type of production from that player until a few years down the road. Haynesworth himself didn't bust out of the gates playing like he has the past few years. So I don't see the point in not going after him just because you want a younger version of a guy who is only 28. That would be like having the Pats offer us Tom Brady and us saying "na, we're going to get a younger Brady in the draft because the real one isn't 25."
The biggest problem I'd have in pursuing Haynesworth is the transition from a 4-3 to a 3-4. I'd think he is capable. But is he willing? Even if he is both of those things how long does it take him to make the transition? -
Can I ask a question, what position are you signing him to play? He is a great DT in a 4-3, but did he play the nose or the under tackle? And are you seriously going to pay the money it will take to have him play DE in a 3-4. Im confused here. I havent seen alot of Haynesworth but I think he is more likely the under tackle simply based on the stats. I cant see a nose tackle getting 8.5 sacks.

Add to that list:
Jamal Williams Sandy Eggo
Kevin Williams Vikings
Jared Allen Vikes
Wolfork Patsies
Darnell Docket Cards
Tommie Harris Bears
Marcus Stroud Bills
Kris Jenkins
Richard Seymour Pats
I only touched on one true DE in this list. There are EASILY 8 or 9 that I would call more disruptive and more productive than Fat Albert, with not nearly as much baggage being toted behind them.
If he was dirt cheap, perhaps he could overcome he laziness he showed prior to this contract year, and perhaps he could overcome the BS he seems to surround himself with...then and ONLY then could I see him becoming a target in my eyes.
Oh, and yeah, he really isnt a NT at all to begin with...
Just my 2 cents worth  -
Haloti Ngata.. i'd take him any day over haynesworth..
id cant stand haynesworth ...
First of all he has never played a full season.. second of all is a DT worth that much money for a 3-4 ... U guys could do so much more with that money....
besides the fact he's a punk as a couple people have already mentioned -
2008
51 Total Tackles
8.5 Sacks
3 FF
2 Passes Defended
2007
40 Tackles
6.0 Sacks
0 FF
4 Passes Defended
Very impressive numbers for a defensive tackle in a 4-3 scheme. He can also occasionally play defensive end and will flat out overpower the tackle he is going up against. He played a huge part in Tennessee having a top 10 defense in back to back seasons.
Jamal Williams racks up tackles in the 3-4 scheme but only has 3.5 sacks the past 4 seasons. Certainly not enough of a complete player to say he is better then Haynesworth.
Kevin Williams is a great player and is half the reason why Minnesota has had a top run defense the past 3 seasons. He has 4 career interceptions from the defensive tackle position two of which he returned for touchdowns back in 2007. His best season came in 2004 his second year in the league where he had 70 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 7 PD, 1 interception and 2 fumbles forced. It is a tough choice between Williams and Haynesworth and I'll take Williams.
Do you think Jared Allen would be force if he were playing in the middle of the defense? I know I don't. Having 30 sacks over two seasons is incredible though. I'm taking Haynesworth.
Wilfork is another 3-4 nose tackle who isn't going to have impressive numbers because his job is to clog up the lanes and let the linebackers run free similar to Jamal Williams. Wilfork is better then Williams when it comes to getting to the quarterback. Just had his best season statistically. Give me Haynesworth.
Dockett had an impressive season in 2007 with 58 tackles, 9 sacks and 2 FF. However he has a tendency to disappear during games something I haven't seen Haynesworth do the past two seasons. (Dockett was spectacular in the Super Bowl.)
Tommie Harris I think can be a great player but right now he is just pretty good. Too many avearge seasons to consider him a top linemen. His best season came back in 2007 with 36 tackles, 8 sacks and 2 FF. Another player I would take Haynesworth over.
Marcus Stroud? Really?
Jenkins was being considered the best NT in football after the New England game this past season but he fell apart after the Tennessee game and couldn't be the force he was earlier in the season. Great season and still remember the numerous times he flat out abused Dan Koppen (a Pro Bowl center) during the second New England game. It is a tough call for me to make between the two so I'll call it a toss up.
Seymour had a great season after three mediocre seasons. 52 tackles and 8.0 sacks as 3-4 defensive end is rare. But his contract is about to expire and you have to question whether this season was a case of him trying to get that last big pay day. He is turning 30 this October. Give me Haynesworth.
What baggage are you talking about exactly when referring to Haynesworth? When he was in a fight with one of his teammates during training camp and when he stepped on Aundre Gurode's head? I'm not saying it is okay for him to do that but after the Gurode incident he has become a premier lineman in the league and hasn't been in trouble since then.Fin-Omenal and azfinfanmang like this. -

I wouldn't bring in Albert Haynesworth. Yes he's a disruptive force when giving it all but that's the key with him. Giving it all. He had been underachieving a bit in the past and then started to come along when his contract was close to expiring. I think he's a guy who will play for the money and then he'll go back to taking plays off. Also, the baggage that comes with him is a concern. We're talking about a guy whose stepped on ones head with a cleat, fought in practice multiple times and hasn't exactly always been on the same page with coaches. A couple years ago, he came to practice and got into a fist-fight with a teammate of his. He was sent home right after that and proceeded to come back with a lead pipe and threatened to kill his teammate. With that said, I'm thinking if he hits the market, he could be looked at $12-$15 million a year across six years and in the neighborhood of $70 million.

Secondly, I think the concerns about him playing hard are valid, but a bit overrated. I would be much more concerned if it were only 1 year of exceptional play, but 2 years in a row to me mitigates that quite a bit. I think at this point it could just as well, if not moreso, be a case of a guy maturing and coming into his own as it would be something more sinister. -
