How bad was this season's offense? The team was credited for 273 points (I know points from DEF & ST are factored in but for the most part this is an offensive stat). Anyway, the disastrous 2007 season produced 267. Yup, six fewer than what these clowns, that you all claim to have done "great" jobs, gave us.
For a historical perspective excluding the 1-15 season, there has been only four other times we scored less since the 1970 merger. And one of those years was a strike-shortened season!
I don't care about injuries, I don't care about different circumstances. This is a results based business so parcells, sparano, ireland & henning produced a team 6 points better than the 1-15 squad. Indefensible.

it has been ugly

Offensively, it was truly a dreadful season.
What I find particularly damning is the idea of this regime wasting 2 years trying to develop a guy that had huge deficiencies in his game, which ultimately he was unable to overcome.
For an organization that preaches accountability, someone has to take the fall for that decision.
Frankly if this front office didn't have an '08 divisional title in their back pocket (due, in no small part, to getting lucky with Chad Pennington), then Ross doesn't have a very difficult decision on his hands this Black Monday.Itsdahumidity likes this. -

I'll try to walk you through this. Who was responsible for the end result? sparano. Who was responsible for getting the team ready to play? sparano.
Where in a Head Coach's job description does it say he has to be a cheerleader? Because that's the only thing your boy contributed.jetssuck, DolfanJake and Auburn like this. -
Again, if they're going to preach about being an organization based on accountability, then someone has to be responsible for the lack of offensive production this season -- and it can't be only Henning because OCs typically aren't in the talent acquisition business. -
(FTR, I do not feel that way and I think our offense was HORRIBLE!)DePhinistr8 likes this. -
as bad as the offense was thats how good our defense was. it really depends on how you want to view the season. we have the best defense here we've had since the wannstedt days and more importantly its young, very young. now the question becomes can we fix the offense? QB is a huge question mark but we can easily fix the rest and if we do that we can try to recreate the 2000 Ravens run. And if we somehow get lucky and we find a QB then the sky is the limit

Our defense finished the season ranked 14th.DolfanJake likes this. -
It bugs me that every year even the worst teams make a push or at least get better. Look at the Rams. They were once the laughing stock of the league. Even the Lions play hard. They have won the last 4 games i heard. And the chiefs and seahawks made the playoffs...............but the fins................year after dreadful yeaar stay the same or get worse!!

I really loathe the Patriots, but I admire them too. -
Unless, of course, you would rather go the YPG route. Afterall, the team with the most yards wins, right?
Am I right about that? Or is it the defense that gives up the least amount of yards is the best? -
-
Make no mistake about it, the Patriots defense is playing like the Patriots defenses of their Super Bowl winning seasons. I hate to admit that, but it's the truth.Auburn likes this. -
Personell? I could give 2 ****s if we had Pee-Wee Herman playing defense with jim carey coaching. If they play/coach well enough to not give up points...keep them.
You're post is too funny! The FACTS are...the Miami Dolphins gave up more points than 13 other NFL teams. Not bad, but not great or elite. Average. Middle of the pack. -

I hate BB. I despise the Patriots. However, what they have is GREAT coaching. This organization could win a SB with the Dolphins current "personel". My proof?
Look at the "personel" they had on their 2001, 2002 and 2004 SB winning teams. -
Again, you can't cherry pick stats.
I haven't worked the numbers, but I think before the Lions game we were ranked 8th in the league. -

When Cam Cameron was the coach for one year. Expectations for the team were not that high going into the season. They were not considered a playoff caliber team and Cameron was thought to be starting a new rebuilding process with the Dolphins. No on expected the Dolphins to go 1-15 that year. But the fact is. As bad as that 1-15 season was for fans. I think this past season was far worse. These Dolphins were not suppose to be a losing team. The owner predicted before the season that the Dolphins would be in the Super Bowl. While most fans thought this prediction was a bit over the top. The reality is that most fans thought this team after three years under Parcells leadership was at least ready to take a giant step forward. Instead the team took two giant steps backward. So for me. This team and this season was much more disappointing than the team that went 1-15. The fact that this team is still in need of so many upgrades throughout the roster. Just shows how inept Parcells was in his role with the Dolphins.

I think the team last year would have won at least two of the three home games this team lost at home in their last three home games. The defense did improve over last season. But in the games since the win over the Jets. Even the defense appears to be taking a step backward. Obviously the biggest step back for the team was on the offensive side of the ball. Henne regressed as the season went along. The offensive line was terrible and the running backs were slow and ineffective. So this was obviously one of the giant steps back. My other giant step back was the play of special teams. The Dolphins special teams were absolutely terrible this season. They gave up five touchdowns and consistently gave up big returns on punts and kickoffs. Yet the Dolphins scored no touchdowns on special teams and the return yardage on kickoffs and punts were among the lowest in the entire league. Dan Carpenter also appears to regress as the season went along. He ended it by missing 5 of his last 6 field goal attempts. While the defense might have improved over last year. Everywhere else on the team, including the coaching, suffered a severe drop from last years performance. Hence, two giant steps backward.
