I watched Coughlins biography on the network the other day, and it sure seems from a distance that there are many similarities between the two men's style of coaching.

Since Philbins arrival, I've been trying to understand how success will come from the coaching style of our coach, well, ive struggled with it a bit, but when you watch the story of Coughlins you start to see how the little things add up to a bigger picture, the attention to meticulous things that you think have nothing to do with the game, seemingly do when it comes to developing men and a team..I'm not smart enough to articulate how the men become a team that cares for each other under this particular style, but there is a blueprint out there, and the similarities were evident.right down to the laces..

I know actual coaching has a lot to do with everything as well but Watching that program gave me a better understanding of Philbins tactics..let's hope the results are similar.

Question is, how do you think this style morphs a team into a champion?

means talent alone isn't enough. getting your players to pay attention to fundamentals and details. acting like professionals. being positive. it all adds up. that's why Rex Ryan and his dad both make lousy head coaches

Coughlins 2 recent Superbowls is how I remember, and 2 AFC championship games in Jacksonville.

If Philbin has 1/2 the success it would be more then we have done since the 70's

Any type of that success is welcomed here. Go Coach Philbin and Go Miami Dolphins!!!!!!

interesting because Giants fans 5 years ago sounded like Dolphin fans do now.......... The majority despised Accorsi,Coughlin,& Manning and couldn't wait for them to be replaced.

    "Success is in the Details".

It is one thing I noticed about Philbin on Hard Knocks. He kept stressing the details, the little things. Like coming into camp in shape. Vonte didn't and they cut him. Chad Johnson was a distraction and they cut him. Marshall was a distraction and a Diva while not putting up points. Details and they cut him. These actions which many have questioned are the details that are going to make this franchise a Super-Bowl contender year in and year out for many years to come.

The coaches have enough to worry about without this kind of management of professionals. It is distracting and we could all sit here and make excuses for each player . How they could have made it different by "changing". Meanwhile it's the details that will decide whether we are 4-12 or 12-4.

How is that similar to anything going on with the Dolphins in 2012? Philbin's reception may be mixed among some quarters, but no one is calling for his firing, so there's no parallel with Philbin's situation and Coughlin's situation in 2007; there aren't any parallels between Tannehill and Manning for obvious reasons; and the fanbase isn't completely unified around the idea of getting rid of Ireland, though Accorsi was already gone from the Giants five years ago, as he retired after the 2006 season.

You know, after what the Dolphins have gone through over the last several years its hard to get confidence in anyone but I too have a good feeling about Philbin. I know and expect some growing pains this year because of all the changes but I just hope they stay competitive and don't give any games away. The playoffs would be nice but I hope we at least stay in the hunt.

I don't think the majority of the fans today despise Philbin, and Tannehill, as you suggest by your comment. I just think a lot of Dolphin fans question the ability of Ireland as the teams GM. I believe most fans are quite willing to see how Philpin and Tannehill work out over the next few years before forming an opinion on them.

Ireland on the other hand has been with the team for five years and the Dolphins have had losing seasons three of those years, one winning season, and this season is still to be determined. So perhaps you want to reconsider your comment that the MAJORITY of the fans despise the QB, the HC, and the GM of the Dolphins, as the Giant fans did 5 years ago.

The fans, which was the whole point. And yes i know accorsi left five years ago, i was refering to giants fans pre- superbowl 2008 (AKA five years ago) in case you hadn't noticed. Not just that specific year.. why would you think that ?

Suggested no such thing, you guys are jumping to conclusions when i made a general statement about how this fans base's current state is similar to the giants fans pre-SB.

I didnt mention anything about philbin or tannehill. someone's getting defensive about me calling dolphins fans crybabies!

I really don't care what you call me or any other fan. You are the one who listed three individuals in your comments. These just happened to be the HC, QB, and the GM of the Giants. If you didn't want anyone to infer that you didn't mean Dolphins fans were complaining about these same three position with the Dolphins. Perhaps you should be more concise when writing your comments and tell us exactly what you mean.
Based on your original comments. You most certainly did suggest that the majority of the Dolphin fans were against these three individuals. Obviously you don't understand what you write.

Who said i called you anything anyway, your taken defensive as if I directed something at you now ? To assume i mentioned anything about philbin or tannehill is just jumping to conclusions....your clearly getting defensive about general statements too. Just making an example that you guys are taking out of context.

Dolphins fans have generally not liked their GMs, coaches or qbs and been quick to turn on them in recent times, much like the Giants fans were/sorta still are ......... Philbin and Tannehill just got here for cripes sake..... who said anything about them ? My goodness. How would you like it if i told you you better second guess saying things you'd never even said ? .

Why don't you just reread your original comments and see how it was easy to infer that you were comparing the Dolphin fans complaining to the Giant fans complaining of five years ago. You are the person who listed three positions. Therefore no one is taking anything out of context, except perhaps you.
I am not getting defensive. I am merely responding to what you wrote in your original post. If you didn't mean to imply that Dolphins fans are complaining about these three individuals, perhaps you should have been clearer about exactly who you think Dolphin fans have been complaining about.

As far as you calling me a name. You stated that Dolphin fans are crybabies. I happen to be a Dolphin fan. Therefore logically you are calling me a crybaby. I merely pointed out that I really don't care what you call me or any other Dolphin fan. Why is that so hard for you to understand? Obviously, "Logic", was not a course you studied in school.

Your soo very confused. Try to simply comprehend what i wrote without looking for underlying meaning or whatnot.
Your insulting manner shows your clearly acting out of anger. I was comparing the morale of the fan bases, god forbid i use examples. Your trying to start a war of words, I feel for you. Social Interaction isn't taught in school.
