Don't know if this has already been discussed or not, but I just realized...I think tonight's Dolphins/Buccaneers game is a nationally televised game. How cool is that? We can all watch it. And, since it's the third preseason game, most of the starters should play into the third quarter.
Woo-hoo!!!

Yeah I hope that we have a good showing with our starters. Its a chance for us to really make a statement going into the regular season. I'd love to see both side of the ball dominate Tampa.

most important game of the preseason:
1) will all but define the roster by the end of night
2) could affirm/establish the Orca-5 as an up & coming dominate force within the NFL
3) should sort out the WR situation, we need to see who will step up. until now nothing is clear except that GinnJr will start & Pat Turner has all but disappeared on the radar
4) look for Bess @PR & GinnJR @KR. Bonamego needs to have access to our best to fix the Special Teams unit. He has to show serious improvement & a move in the right direction on SpecialTeams or Bowles could be promoted to head the unit.
5) like to see more of Hilliard in the pro-set as a RB & FB. Also need to see if he steps up his productivity on SpecialTeams. (two tackles in two games?)
6) want to see sacks from the OLB's. like to see more of Wake in this game. he's had two sacks, both of which were undone due to penalties. I remember reading he set the edge against the run (when needed) very well, as was the MonsterPassRusher in the CNL. Need to see if he can do the same for Miami w/ the potential loss of Roth.
the team needs to win this game & look good on national television doing it. winning our four preseason games would be a good thing for the team heading into the regular season, boosting confidence @ home & tempering some their many criticsdolfan7171, HULKFish, late again and 1 other person like this. -
My son and I will be at the game, along with Den54 and his son.

Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?
Got local on my Dish Network, so I'll be enjoying it in D! -
going to be a big game in every way
-
thanks for the heads up
-
why can't you get local on your satellite, I have never had that issue with Dish nor Direct TV, and if there are no locals you are able to get other areas' locals (for people who really live in teh boonies).
-
NO WAY!!
Man that is just plain screwed up and wrong.
So you can't get the big 4 major networks? ie: ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox? -
Come to the lightened side and get Directv!SICK and dolfan7171 like this. -
Already set the DVR to record it, now I have to decide if I miss a church event so I don't have to stay up past my bedtime to watch it. Decisions, decisions . . .

we need to look good in the first 3 quarters, but we need to lose one of the next 2 games. going 4-0 in the pre-season is a bad omen.
-
always play to win!
the only bad omen is a loss:bag:
4-0 is a good thing:dolphin:

No way man, we're winning for confidence! This is the important win... Next week - meh, not so much.
What I want to see:
1. O-line get another big push in the running game.
2. Secondary mesh in the passing game.
3. D-line dominate Cadillac and crew.
4. Apply LARGE pressure on Byron "Hang my arm before throwing as I don't move from the pocket" Leftwich all day long...dolfan7171, cnc66 and Vengeful Odin like this. -
I actually get to watch it. Our channel 5 (fox) advertised it this morning.

Go Dolphins!!!dolfan7171, mullingan and njfinfan like this. -
This should be a good barometer, but realistically, they don't play this game for the "W"
They play to learn, solidify and not get starters hurt.
As has mentioned, this game will also show much of what the final roster is, and part of that is unfair, let me explain:
If you are on the bubble, the way you make the team is through individual performance, when anybody that studies the game understands its actually the team performance that matters......but it is what it is.
Hoping for a good game with no injuries. -
-
oh crap, i have a feeling i'll be stuck with the friggin iggles tonight!
edit: oh joy, i think theyre showing both games!! -

Yeah, a win would be nice, as always. But, I think the two things I'll be most focused on will be:
1) Basically, coming through the game with everyone healthy (in general). And not losing a key player to a long term injury (specifically).
2) Continued progress in all phases...offense, defense and special teams. -

Does Tampa even stand a chance? I think they are gonna be the worst team in the league this year. But you know what they say, any given thursday.

lets be honest. the bucs are not going to be a good team next year. their QB situation is ridiculous. they have one good WR and Winslow. their defense is good, but still has some holes and with a new scheme who knows how that is going to turn out. i would be happy for 6 wins for the bucs next year.
-
What I'm looking forward to seeing is our pass rush against that left side of the offensive line of Tampa Bay. Also, I read yesterday that Tampa is shopping both Luke McCown and Byron Leftwich so I'm guessing we're going to be seeing either more of those two or more of Josh Freeman.
-
On offense, it looks like they may be going with Josh Freeman and whilst he's got some issues, I think they can work around them by rolling him out of the pocket and having Kellen Winslow run drag routes, etc. The issues that I have with that team on the offensive side of the ball is Donald Penn and Antonio Bryant. Penn struggled last year and he simply needs to improve. Bryant had success last year but he's been known to slack off in the past and if he dislikes the situation with his team, he'll tank it. He's done it before.mullingan likes this.
