Jake Scott, Richmond Webb, Dwight Stephenson, Zach Thomas, and Dick Anderson all need to be on any sort of “top Dolphins” list. Also, Don Shula should be #1 on the list. No, he wasn’t a player, but he’s still the historic face of the franchise. Conversely, Jason Taylor should NOT be on this list.

If you decide to have a dishonorable mentions category, then Thurman Thomas, Nick Saban, Bill Parcells, Olindo Mare, and Ted Ginn, Jr. all deserve consideration.

 

Zach Thomas

 

I think Jake Long is already in the top 25 honestly, even if you couldn't put him higher than 25th due to age/experience.

 

Jason Taylor the man diverged from Jason Taylor the reputation after Wayne Huizenga failed to hire Jim Bates to succeed Dave Wannstedt full-time. He became a diva player interested more in himself than the team, but was smart enough to be subtle about it. It “helped" that Saban’s defense featured him and allowed him to become the 2006 DPOY.

I actually thought we should have sold high and traded Taylor after the 2006 season. And in retrospect, after the way Cameron was undermined in the locker room and the way Taylor has done nothing for the franchise since, that would have been the best move.

jake longs on his way to be top 5 in my opinion but honestly i wouldnt put him in the top 25 after 3 seasons, give it 5-6 years and he should be in there.

Griese at #3? Marino at 18?

I hope that is not in numerical order.

 

Marino is the best player in the history of the franchise, without doubt. Putting him at #18 on any list other than "Best players in the history of the sport" is an insult. Putting Dwight Stephenson at #17 and Jim Langer at #4 is hilarious. Dwight Stephenson is WIDELY considered as the best center to have ever played the sport.

Bryan Cox was a decent player but he could not hold Zach or Offerdahl's jock strap.

Clayton was better than Duper.

 

If Dwight Stephenson is not in the top 5 you should go back and rewrite it.

 

Griese is higher on my list than Marino but 18? Even I don't hate on him that much. BUT that list had a lot of the names I would consider....

 

I'm not even sure Griese would make my top 25 honestly. No chance in hell I'd put him above Marino at the very least.

I agree with everything except the without a doubt part. I don't think Marino was the best player in the history of the Miami Dolphins. I think it's, without a doubt, debatable.

Even if I'm alone in thinking it, it's damned close between Greise, Marino, Zonk, Warfield, Scot, Anderson....

 

Griese was the leader of the best team in the history of the NFL....

 

Except Morrall is the reason they went undefeated.

 

Yep! Why some people do not comprehend is beyond me. I lived thru both Qb's playing here and loved ol number 12. He was damned good and one of the smartest Qb's to ever play.

 

Re-read it. I said the greatest team in the history of the NFL. I'm talking about 4 straight seasons.

 

All along I thought it was that 53 defense and an unstoppable running game :lol:

Yes, the defense and running game were the real "leaders." I just meant they won more without Griese in 72 than with him.

 

I forgot about Dwight Stephenson... Definitely in the top 25.

Zach Thomas... ahh...

I can not stand JT BUT the fact of the matter is that the guy did record 124 sacks for the team which is more than double anyone else.

Could not stop the passing game either! Greise did not have a cannon for an arm but he was deadly accurate with the deep ball anyway.

I Forgot Bill Stanfill, left Paul Warfield of the list because he didn't play long enough for us IMO (same with Jake Long). Loved the Blackwood brothers but I don't think they belong in the top 25 (JMO).
