That is a good draft board. I think you will hit on quite a few of the rounds.

 

Hey Red, i dont believe theres anyway possible Larry english is available in the 2nd. especially after the combine when people get a load of this kid. great football player with ridiculous measurables and athleticism. superior physique.

 

brandon tate would be a hellava 7th round draft pick.

 

I guess the list for each round should get exponentially longer, with names in round 5 repeating in rounds 6 and 7. It's a good solid list.

I personally think Robiskie will be a consideration from round 2 onward. He's got the proper attitude and technique, and he's been terribly productive as a red-zone possession receiver with not a lot to work with qb-wise at Ohio State

 

Hakeem Nicks will be in the second round and Duke Robinson will be in the first round

 

From my perspective, i would'nt take a receiver in the 7th, if our front office is gonna target one, the kid better have some serious talent to overtake the four they have going into next year, bess, ginn and cammy form a really solid young core thats learning a new innovative offense together and are only getting bigger, stronger and better. so if they go for a receiver they must make the splash in the earlry rounds, which is something that i would disagree with as well.

but to answer your question about who might fall that may have some value in the 7th, is quan cosby because of his age or sammie stroughter..

 

I could see the Fins taking a WR in this draft. You are right about the core unit not being easy to crack.

However the Fins do need depth and none of the players are a lock to be on the team in 2 seasons.

Cam might come back strong...but lets be real about Cam. He is a very solid player that's about it. Now there is NOTHING wrong with that, he is still better than a lot of WR's in the NFL.

Ginn has great potential and also has an injury concern about taking the big hits. If he keeps healthy over the next couple of seasons...that should disappear.

Bess just wants to make plays...don't get in his way, he does not care how big you are. You will need to bring a friend to take down this little man.

London might be the missing link to the WR core. The Fins need a TALL WR that can make some plays. He saw a lot of action in the playoff lost to the Ravens. Let's see if he can build from that this season. There is plenty of competition in this draft past the 4th round that could compete with him.

But again none are a lock to be here in a few years. So much can happen in a few years. The Fins had a HUGE problem vs. the Ravens only having 2 WR's for a couple of series. We got lucky this season with injuries...we did not lose to many of our best players. That does not always happen...Miami will look to have 5 ready for the season.

Let's not forget that Miami does not have a WR that is truly talented enough RIGHT NOW to play as the #1. That will Limit the type of players we look to pick up as well...

1) Ginn (Moves to the slot (Bess or Ginn) with 3 WR's in the game)
2) Bess (Starts with only 2 WR's in the Game)
3) Cam (Moves to the outside with 3 WR's in the game)
4) London (Moves to the outside with 4 WR's in the game)
5) Rookie (Only sees the field to give breathers and spread attacks)

Bess really is going to be much better next season. He played great for a rookie last season, much less for an undrafted rookie. Before Bess stepped up and made catch after catch and carrying defenders for an extra 3-6 yards...Cam was a lock as the #2.

But both Bess & Cam play the same role for Miami's offense. They both are better catching the underneath ball and turning up field. They can go across the middle and have hands to make the tough catch. I think Bess will end up our #2 starter and move to the slot with 3+ WRs in the game.

 

I would add Don Carey and Lawrence Sidbury to the list of possibilities.

 

I think Robiskie is a nice player who needs to put it all together. He runs good routes, he knows when to break off routes and come back to the quarterback, and he's a fine blocker; does a good job of redirecting. but the issue with him is his hands. He's inconsistent in that aspect of his game as he tends to drop passes he shouldn't. Also, he's not always so willing when blocking.

 

hes no anthony gonzales thats for sure, but solid nonetheless.

So in your mock, you see Sean Smith and Darius Butler as late #2 picks?

Robert Veikune would look nice in rds 5-7 as would Houston's Phil (?) Hunt and maybe the UConn OLB//DE..Brown?

 

Hunt is too small. Brown is talented but he doesn't have his motor always running IIRC. Richard's guy, Julius Williams, does more with less (talent).

 

That is what makes them later round guys Alen, they are sort of bargain bin, dented can players who have some skills, but not the whole package on paper.

We are always looking for Lb's/De who can play special teams, if they can stick, maybe they show they can play.

And heck, last year in the 5-7 range we took two guys who never really had the chance to play, one of those guys would have good shot at seeing the field.

 

I think if the Phins add a WR it will be a WR with great size, we have the small quick guys what we need is the jump ball guy that scares everyone in the redzone. I personally like Greg Carr in the 7th. He has things you cant teach, even though he needs alot of coaching. 6'6 and does a great job on going after jump balls. Simply putting him in the game inside the 10 will open things up for others because you have to pay attention to a guy 6'6 that can jump. With them looking at Ramses I think if we dont take him I wouldnt be surprised to see Carr late.

 

He would be worth a #7 or a Camp Invitation.

I sort of like Mandeville from Northeastern, 6'6 and plays Te.

 

Assuming that we don't land a Dansby, Peppers, or Scott in Fa...

If Larry English is still on the board and we take Nicks or Britt over him, I'm gonna be pissed.

I don't see the point in taking a WR who's probably going to take at least 2 years to develop over a guy who should be able to step in and start contributing Day 1. IMO, we would be delaying our improvement if we went WR in the 1st.

 

I'd be surprised to see him at 44, let alone 56. I could actually see him going to New England in the first round.

I think Williams would make this team. He's damn strong and could be a rotational guy at the strong side or weak side linebacker spots once Porter is done/gone.

 

I would be stunned if Robiskie falls past the 2nd round. Besides Nicks, he is the best route runner in the draft.

 

Nicks would be a 1st rounder on my board already, but WR will most likely not be such a premium same as last years draft.

 

No Clint Sintim as a 1st round option? I would think he'd be right up there.

 

Depends as usual, that is why we speculate.

Veikune good in the Shrine Bowl, but he has a slower 40 time that will keep him out of anything below rd 5 IMO.


I like Shaughenessy, but Sidbury or Moore are more typical Parcells/Ireland type players.

That was the game the UConn rb went wild wasn't it? The thing about a guy doing that is there are times when they are playing with an injury that "we" do not know about.

Well, the one thing about the Ireland/Tuna way of scouting is they have a smaller draft board then most, and they have specific things they look for in the way of size and height, whether Brown or Williams fits their mold remains to be seen.

I dropped Johnson and replaced him with Sunderland from Georgia as he is running back fast, down in the high 4'6's, and just about the same size.

That is what makes looking at the later rounds fun (to me) trying to find the guys who are later round gems who no one has heard of, or who disappointed in the Combine or Bowl Games.

Every play? This isn't just one game he does it. You ever watched Brian Orakpo play? Cody Brown is the same when it comes to the motor.

 

From what I've seen (Shrine Bowl, Senior Bowl) Sidbury and Moore are more physical then Shaughenessy.

Depends Alen, I haven't watched every play.

And when UConn played I was all eyes on Darius Butler and a bit on Beatty.

 

I don't know about that. Shaughnessey is a fine player though.

He does it often. Just sits back and watches when the play is away from him.

 

How did his stock drop and do you have a link? I find that a bit hard to believe.

 

Good news for us though Alen, strategically we now have a shot at him at #44 and still pick our guy at #25...like the Merling situation last season.
