We need to do a lot of house cleaning before the trading deadline. We have some players that other teams will wa2019nt. Other than this past draft class, and a few players on the Dline, EVERYONE should be made available to other teams. Even NE, if we have something they need.
Players we should actively try to trade: Stills, McDonald, R. Jones,
We have to break this ALL THE WAY DOWN, even if it means going 0-16 or 1-15 in 2019. This team is hot garbage.
We need a new GM, HC, OC, DC...all new position coaches. New QB, new C, New OL.
Maybe keep Tunsil. Everyone else on the Oline can go.
Keep the the rookie TEs.
No one else on offense is worth keeping.
On defense: Keep Taylor and Godchaux. Keep Baker and Fitzpatrick. Keep Xavien and McCain.
Everyone else can go...If this doesn't happen, then I hope S. Ross sales the team and moves them to some other city.

Whatever we may think of the team, they won't do a sell off. We are still on the plus side of .500 and neither the FO nor coaches who may be worrying about job security will offload all their good players. Just won't happen.
They will listen, but a trade of guys like Stills and Jones is unrealistic. And frankly, teams rebound quickly sometimes if you bring the right coach and QB in. Let's not turn ourselves into a talent void.
Also, this is the NFL where you just don't see the kinds of wholesale trades that you do in MLB and NBA. I get the idea, but these threads just get a bit ridiculously Madden at times.Irishman, miamiron, Tin Indian and 2 others like this. -
I wouldn't trade Reshad either. Today's game really showed his value. Actually, the entire defense is a relative bright point so I wouldn't go wholesale on that either (seriously.. even the run defense isn't anywhere near as bad as expected).
We need a new QB and new coach and draft picks on OL. No need for anything more wholesale than that.Surfs Up 99, texanphinatic and KeyFin like this. -
No way in hell Ross is going to allow a fire sale and right of the rest of the season. We’re 3-2. 1/4 wat through the season if we play at this pace we would be 12-4 end of year (never gunna happen but...) I do believe we should go shopping and improve our online and see what we can get for Parker (nothing I’m sure) or a few other players. There are a few online players we can get who have to be better than Young my LORD! We would have been better putting a tire iron out there today!!
If we’re going fire sale let’s trade Tannehill and Gase as a combo deal! -
Outside of QB I really believe we are set on the skill positions. Just have to fix the oline and Qb.

1. The people who would be doing the trading need to be fired.
2. The players you mentioned have contracts where dead money would accelerate and put us over the salary cap.
We are unlikely to trade anyone away during the season. The veterans may be released after the year, and the young players will be assessed by the new regime at that point.miamiron likes this. -
Stills and Rashad could help a team win a SB.
I sent a holding on the fact that we're gonna finish something better than 6 in 10 are living in a fantasy world. This team sucks!
I can imagine how everyone doesn't see it. It is so painfully obvious that it's frustrating when I hear people say we could still make the playoffs. We cannot. We will not. If you haven't been watching this team for 40 years, show deference to those of us who have. Trust me when I tell you I have seen this all before! This is not going to end well.
This is another 6 -10 or 7 - 9 team. For all of the talk of our defensive ends, they haven't produced crap. Overpaid for unproducing garbage. The best way forward would be to trade whatever you can, whatever you can get even if it's nothing more then 6 or 7th round picks. And give the new regime as much ammunition as possible to rebuild this team.
if the opinion is that rashad or stills are good players and will help you in the future, then shut them down this year. Put them both on IR or else just inactivate them. This way we can save them for next year when we start over. There's no need to risk their health for this dumpster fire of a football team. -
Trading kenny stills this season would trigger 15.4 million in dead money against the cap. Trading Rashad Jones would trigger 28m. The team literally cannot absorb those numbers.
Jones also would trigger 23m next season. He, stills and Wilson are the three players who are virtually guaranteed to be a part of the 2019 team. McDonald would trigger a 6.5m dead money hit and create negative 500k in cap space next year, so I can only see moving from him if the whole thing is burned to the ground and they just want him off the books.danmarino, Boik14 and Redwine4all like this. -
Maybe give Gase another year with the current contracts with dead money and mostly players on league minimum. Then we can start over in 2020.
I'm just trying to get the rebuilding done sooner than later. As soon as we get drilled in our next game, and every loss after, helps get us closer to rebuild. -
This strategy does sometimes work. Cue the Houston Astros. You have to be patient though.. it will take a few seasons of rebuild.Redwine4all likes this. -

Tannihill gave them 14 pts. You do the math. Any team with 3 starting oline guys out is gonna struggle.

Or is Gase the biggest problem and if gives up the play calling, then Tannehill can stay?
I'm confused -

Many/most of the franchises that we see today as models of stability and structure went through their periods of darkness.
The Steelers sucked for the first 40 years of their existance. The giants were horrible for about 15 years before the early 80s. The packers were terrible from a few years after Lombardi left until Holmgren was hired. The Patriots were one of the worst franchises in the league until they hired Parcells.Irishman likes this. -
You want to swap out Tannehill? Fine. Overhaul the line through the draft? Great! But you don't meet goals #1 and #2, only to throw it all away since your offense is in trouble.
One thing I'll point out- and this is not directed at you. When we had our worst offensive performance in 2016 and everyone said the sky was falling, fire Gase, bench Tannehill, etc, we came out the next week and started a 6-game win streak. Recent history shows that this team can overcome a struggling line and turn lemons into lemonade. This season is far from over despite the knee-jerk reactions.Irishman, adamprez2003 and Mafioso like this. -

Sorry, we cannot rely on 5 all star linemen to stay healthy every year in order to Tannehill to give us average offensive production. We NEED better out of the QB position, and we have to stop with the excuses. "If we just ..." Nope, done. That's a road with no end.Redwine4all, pumpdogs and danmarino like this. -
Who said anything about AllStar linemen? Competent would be enough. And I did not say to keep Tannehill. I said that he is good enough to keep the seat warm until you can replace him.

Gase will get one more year. Ross is going to give him his 4 years. I’m convinced of that unless we just straight nose dive and the team gives up on him I see him back for year 4.
2020 we will hear how we’re not going to rebuild because we have pieces in place just need the right coach and a few personal changes. I have zero faith that Ross can coordinate a proper head coach candidate search. I also feel we need to basically wipe the coaching staff (defense has been decent so maybe we wait and see with them) but the entire offense from the scheme to the coaching is weak as hell mentally and physically.Redwine4all likes this. -

A new GM/Coach get to start on the same page, with a rookie QB they wanted. Things could turn around very quickly, as you free up a TON of cap space with a rookie contract, and you could have a winning season in 2020.
Keeping Gase around for 2019 just lets him go 7-9, which will not good enough to keep, but well out of the top picks to be able to draft a QB. The rebuild stalls either with a lack of future picks, or being unable to find a QB worth drafting in the middle of the first round.
Unless Gase turns this season around, he is just standing in the way of building a better future team, and the sooner we get started on it, the better. -
He's blaming everything on Tannehilll..
I call BS
The only constant for this team for the past 18 years has been one person -
Mike Tannenbaum...
If someone could pound into Ross's head that this guy couldn't draft a good team for high school intramural girls football, we could possibly begin to start to prepare to act and play like the Phins of the last century.. or maybe even a professional football team than a bunch of parts cobbled together by Frick and Frack - IF ROSS COULD SEE THAT FRIENDS AND BUSINESS rarely play well with each other. You can bet your bottom dollar that if a supervisor in one of Ross's other businesses, friend or not, maintained the dismal record of Tannebaum, he would be canned. -
-
But this is not a team. This is a congeries of players of American football cobbled together to take the field to allow one man to continue to draw a salary - and he doesn't coach, play, or sell tickets.
Wish I had invested in Microsoft in 1976 when I was advised to.... I would buy the team and clean house.
But, no use worrying about spilt milk under the bridge where Yehoshua flang it!Grippa likes this. -

I think we have a real good team already. We need a real quarterback. Coaches are getting better. I think last week showed a lot of heart by our team. We have a lot of injuries we are fighting through.
