Yea, seems like Bess is the guy thats this year's diamond in the rough. Im not so sure though anyone else fits that role.
-
Nice read, hope all of them work out for us. We need some of these types to turn into solid players for us so we can focus on the skill positions in the next draft.
-
my only concern is that which the article pointed out.... is Bess really that good, or just the rest of our WR roster that bad? A roster spot could be earned here that might not be earned on many other teams b/c our corps is so poor. it's all relative.
also, no talk of Scorpio? -
Titus Brown seems to be one of those players who are an enigma, he ran 4.66, was productive in College, yet not a single team spent even a 7th round pick on him?
Brown compares well to Quentin Moses, and he as the first pick in the third round two year ago, I wonder what gives with Brown?
As for D. Bess..I'm burnt out on hyping long shot Wr in Miami, he could be Wes Welker Jr, or he could be Kerry Reid, but either way...the long shot that has my attention is Jayson Foster, 4.2, College Qb who made plays in every roll in college from Wr to Qb to Running Qb, I'd love to see him make it in Miami, I can remember Dante Hall and Gerald McNeil making huge impacts in the return game..JCowScot, Tone_E and Dol-Fan Dupree like this. -
I doubt Bess is going to make the team.
Jayson Foster looks like a player who can make a difference. -
-
You can't ignore 4.2 though, Foster may not play very long, players that small have a tough time sticking long term, but in those 4 or 5 years we could see some things....:hi5: -
Foster could be the fastest guy in the world.... if he can't run solid routes, remember the playbook, or make the plays when needed, the speed won't help ;)
(*disclaimer: i'm not saying foster can't do those things.... i'm saying for the sake of argument, speed will only get you so far *) -
Foster is freakishly fast and can be used in the return game. If he can tackle at all, he can be a flyer on punt team as well.
Right now Miami has 3 guys who potentially are the top 3 recievers. 4 and 5 need to be able to play on special teams. Can Bess play special teams? That is the question. It is my opinion that to make the team he is going to either have to dominate and beat out Hagen or be a beast on special teams.
Also if Foster shows a little too much flash he might not make it through waivers and practice squad. Bess seems like a guy you can store there easily. -
I'm intrigued about Titus Brown, I hope he plays with a chip on his shoulder. Great read
-
Hagan did play ST last season, Camarillo did as well, but IMO, Greg's ceiling may be too low to make it this season, I'd love to see him stick though.
Foster will have to be as good if not better then Ginn at kick returns to stick and play, Bess though, if he has a nose for the 1st down marker and a knack for getting open, we can keep Ginn on KR duties, so unless Foster can really show some talent in KR, or Bess is a flop, it looks like Ginn, Hagan (maybe) and Wilford, otherwise Bess takes Hagan's spot, and is the 3rd Wr.
Unless of course Foster shows more at Wr then we know... -
Bess is going to have to show a lot. He was not drafted for a reason.
If Wilford goes down I see Miami bringing in one of the more veteran recievers that is going to get cut -
you guys both make excellent points.... can bess play ST? and were hagan & camarillo that good on ST, or were they just used because they were serviceable bodies and we had no one else?
honestly this will all just have to pan-out during camp i guess. unfortunately none of us can really speak unequivocably on any of that. I'd rather have a GREAT wr on the team and a GREAT ST'er as two different bodies than ONE spot given to a guy who does both average. -
Plus it was that thinking that allowed Miami to have one of the worst Special teams in the league last year.
Camarillo is good on special teams. It was the main reason he became a Dolphin. -
-
Once you are past the starters and main back ups, the rest of the players are going to have to be players who can contribute in many different aspects. In fact that is something Sparano even pointed out in the last article for something he is looking for. So if Foster is not as good of a wide reciever as Bess, however proves to be able to used on special teams as a flyer or punt returns or other guy on kick off returns, the chances of him making the team is greater
