Figure someone needed to post Crowder's entire "career" highlight video given he spent his whole career as a Dolphin. Here it is...

Well, FWIW I liked Crowder the player, to me he was good at what he did, defending the run, thought he also was the lone bright spot on a very very bland Dolphins squad, and had been so for yrs.
If he really is done, then I'm also glad he got out of the game while he still had his health, if anyone cares to read about his Father, Randy Crowder, that did not end so lovely.MikeHoncho and Ophinerated like this. -

wow....that's pretty ridiculous. Channing was a great value to our defense was often overlooked because he wasn't a flashy "big play" LB. imo he was a shut down run defender and might have been a bit a liability in coverage but provided a lot of intelligence and leadership for our team. these kinds of posts show me how unappreciative our fans can be at times.
I loved his energy and leadership over the years and think there is a lot to be said on what kind of person he is to have gone out on his own terms and retired a lifetime Dolphins player. I find it hard to believe that he couldn't have gone to another team and continued to play at a high level but he choose to retire a Dolphin :up:PhinsRock, TiP54, dolfan7171 and 3 others like this. -
I just cannot understand this obsession with marginalizing and denigrating a player ad nauseum.
It's not just this thread. It's also every condescending member of the local media.
He wasn't a superstar. We get it.dolphindebby, PhinsRock, TiP54 and 8 others like this. -
Ignorance. It's the ignorant fan that bashes Crowder. He was a long-time, hard playing, hard working, and faithful Dolphin. Just because the guy wasn't Mike Singletary or Ray Lewis (who is though?) doesn't mean he sucked. Sure, he had his faults, but overall the guy was solid.
Good luck Channing!Sceeto, DHPVW, USArmyFinFan and 4 others like this. -
Wish we would bring him back as a backup. Wonder how he would do on STs.....

he was a true dolphin & consistently gave everything ounce of his ability to the team. best of luck to Channing in future endeavors

The guy was drafted in the 3rd round and was a starting LB for the Dolphins from the get go. If you try to compare him to the greatest LB'ers of all time, yes, he's mediocre. However, Crowder played at a high level for his entire career sans when he was injured. Yes, he had weaknesses. However, overall he was a solid part of the defense. He was part of a top 15 defense 4 out of his 6 seasons. If he didn't play at a high level he wouldn't have started for those "D's".MrClean, DHPVW and Stringer Bell like this. -
I think Crowder was great at the role he was in. But I just think the role he was in is no longer needed on this team. -
Why would he take snaps from Burnett? Burnett is the better player, he would be on the field unless he was tired or injured. And he could take Austin Spitlers spot if CC could play some STs. Which, with his motor, I assume he should be able to. -
Spitler is really more a coverage LB, which it seems to be what we are looking for at this point. Crowder certainly isn't a coverage guy. -

Channing Crowder wasn't the best at anything. Although, he was very good at stopping the run. He's a very smart and athletic guy who played his heart out for the Dolphins. He was usually always around the ball and would give up his body in order to make the stop. Any Dolphin's fan...hell any football fan...who just spouts off "He sucks" or "Good riddance" are ignorant and don't realize the help he provided to the Dolphin's defense over the last 6 seasons. As I wrote before, he was the starting LB for 4 seasons on a defense ranked 15th or better each of those seasons. He didn't "suck".DHPVW, MrClean, HugeFinFan and 2 others like this. -

And you do realize the irony of the personal attack against him when he just provided a well reasoned rational explanation, right? Right?DHPVW, MarinePhinFan and GARDENHEAD like this. -

Regardless of what you think of Channing as a football player, that man bled for this team. He was a Dolphin to the core, and that's all that matters to me. He may have popped his mouth off in the media a lot, but from all accounts he was a great teammate and guy to work with.
Thanks for your service CC, enjoy your retirement.MarinePhinFan likes this. -
While he wasn't Zach Thomas, he was a guy who could play the middle linebacker position in the NFL; so there's that.

P.S. I am sorry if any of the material within this post is not original.

Channing Crowder gave us the best that he had, whether it was good enough for some of us is irrelevant. I liked him as an individual, his humor, and his work ethic. He learned from Zach Thomas and carried that work ethic on after Zach left. Channing may not have had the physical skills of a Zach or Jason, but he has the heart.
Wish him the best and thank you Channing, for all you gave to this team. Why people hate on a guy who gave our team the best he had, I cannot understand and ask: "would you have played better? Worked harder?" No? then STFUMarinePhinFan likes this. -
Well, let's see what was so "silly" about my post.
Crowder was drafted in the 3rd round. You think that's silly? Why? Do you think he was drafted in a different round?
And what is your definition of a "good" defense? I'll explain my definition of one.
There are 32 NFL teams. I would say that there are 4 levels of defense. Poor, Average, Good, Great
I think a top 8 defense is "great".
I think a defense ranked 9th to 16th is "good".
I think a defense ranked 17th to 24th as "average".
I think a defense ranked 25th to 32nd as "poor".
Granted someone may differ in what they feel is a "great" defense et al. However, Channing played on 4 defenses that ranked 15th, 5th, 9th, and 14th. I would argue that a defense with these rankings would be considered good...with the 5th ranking falling into the great and the 9th ranking coming very close.
You call facts and objective rankings "homerism"?
So, who's silly now? ;)MrClean likes this. -
