Fingers crossed that the apparent huge gulf in passing ability between Tua and Herbert closes some this coming year. Those were his best plays and.....yeesh. His physical ability doesn't look much better than Fitz, who's 15 years his senior. I'm really worried that at his best, he's a Chad Pennington type.

I don’t really read too much into highlight reels, except for what doesn't show up. What was a little disconcerting for me was that about 1:15 of a 3:20 video was all about the Arizona game. I get that your best game will be disproportionally large in a highlight reel, but when it’s roughly 1/10th of your season but 1/3rd of the highlight reel I get a little anxious.

Tua will never be more than a game manager.

Let's give him more than 9 games maybe. -

I'm not that concerned with more Arizona games where he & the team scrape and claw to make things work. I want a lot more games where things look a whole lot easier than they did last season and the offense is on schedule, moving up and down the field, gaining first downs and making Red Zone visits. Everything last year just looked so, so hard for our offense compared to the average NFL team. When things worked, it was barely so most games.
So first, I need to see Tua and the offense do regular, normal, repeatable things week after week and look like a typical NFL team does. It doesn't need to be special or beautiful. Once they can get that down, I'll worry about the next step. If he looks like he's still fighting to get to that point at the end of next season, then that would probably be it for me in my personal hopes for him.Last edited: Feb 28, 2021 -

That's what I want Tua to be able to do next. Just the same as Week 1 through 5 last season. Show me that he can keep hitting the open man, take the check down when necessary, move the chains, and effectively help the offense own the ball and time of possession. Make each drive productive, minimize three and outs. If we can get there, then we can talk about the next step. -
He also ran for a couple of big first downs on third down and made Budda Baker look like a clown. -
I just don't understand these types of topics. Tua basically played half a season coming off serious injury with no off-season prep and no training camp. Comparing him to Herbert or Burrow is silly at this point since they took such different paths into the league. Anyone who expected him to be lights-out last season had unrealistic expectations....Flores made that clear from day 1.
Personally, I was super-high on Burrow but we have no idea what type of QB he'll be next season. Herbert looked great on a 7-win team so it's too soon to crown him either. The truth of the matter is that we have no idea on all three QB's careers.PhinsRDbest, JJ_79 and jdallen1222 like this. -

Tua was pretty much a Top 5 talent in every major big board/mock draft/evaluation. But you had him in the 90-120 range pre-draft? Ok lol keep playing Madden.

You're just suffering from Herbert disease like many people on here. Like people who equate Tua's arm strength to passing yards.PhinsRDbest and Dol-Fan Dupree like this. -
And again as I said a few days ago, all I can do is hope that with more time to heal, Tua looks a lot more like Herbert than he did this past season, because the difference was huge. If that's all Tua is going to have, then he's going to have to try and eek out a career as a Chad Pennington type of QB, and that isn't who you draft at #5. -
Jalen Hurts had a better season... and was making much better throws on tighter windows... with practice squad receivers and a former qb converted wr.. and behind one of the worst offensive lines in the nfl

I am allowed to have an opinion pre draft.I didn't want to Tua and that's the truth. And ur statement of a top 5 talent is stupid!Look at all the top 5 talent Qb have failed.Need I start a list?
I think he was way overrated coming out and nothing he did last year changed my opinion.Unlike ur arrogant *** I would love to be proven wrong because I have been a fan since 1971 so don't tell me it's a cop out!I want to win above all else so go away with your stupid statements!Rick 1966 likes this. -
QBR: Tua 87% / Hurts 77.6%
TD/INT: Tua 11-5 / Hurts 6-4
Not saying that Tua had a great year though, although I must have forgotten that he was throwing to Jerry Rice and the Marks Brothers instead of practice squad receivers with 2 converted QB'sDol-Fan Dupree likes this. -
