But it also was expected that Turner would need some seasoning after playing at FCS school North Dakota State, and it didn’t help that Turner sustained a foot injury in training camp that slowed his progress.
The physical skills are obvious, which is why Turner is one of those players who could end up making a big jump between his first and second seasons.
“I was hurt; I was out the first six, seven weeks of the season, which kind of pushed the brakes a little bit on me being able to get in there and do anything,” Turner said. “I am a young guy. That was kind of the thing this year. Next year I’m going to be hitting the weight room getting bigger, faster, stronger and whatnot, but once I get that opportunity I’ve just got to seize the moment.”
