Confirmed: New Xbox 360 model
From Kotaku. Leaked Italian language marketing information supposedly reveals details on a new model Xbox 360, this one with a physical redesign, rather than just new internals. Apparently it comes with a 250GB hard drive and internal wi-fi.
Video at the link. Also, Natal is being renamed Kinect.

The Kinect thing is confirmed.
-
Internal Wi Fi would be sweet!
-
Natal always struck me as an odd name, not sure I like this one better though.
-
im definitely getting the new system if its under 300.
-
it looks like a photoshop job but I will wait and see.
-
meanwhile, pennphinfan catches up with the times and his xbox finally gets the RROD. bah.
i thought I had won. Had been going on 5 years without it. ah well
this model looks sweet though -
confirmed...and available later in the week! my xbox just got the rrod 2 days ago.. so yup, im getting one. Same price too! $299. im pretty pumped.
-
I would get one, but I need iPhone4 :)
-
I'll get one when Borderlands' sequel comes out.
Actually maybe sooner. I got the PS3 slim because it's easier to take when I go out of town for work. If the new 360 is a decent amount lighter I'd have to consider it too. -
Too bad we weren't in the audience, everyone in attendance gets one.
-
Yahoo has the new 360 here:

I ordered it off Amazon yesterday after a couple hours of deliberation. The $50 in video game credit that I had expiring at the end of the month is what sealed the deal for me.
Btw I love some people's arguments for hating the redesign (no blu-ray). -
I need a modded 360. I'm guessing this one will be impossible to do so right?
-
Sony's stuff is near-impossible to hack these days, just to contrast. -
-
-
The only reason the PSP-GO hasnt been breached is because none of the 6 people that bought it know what they're doing. LOL
All ragging on the PSP aside, it's become the console i hate more than anything in the world. If Sony offered it at a reasonable price I might get back into it. -
And the PS3 is still not hacked four years into its life. The root access stuff from a few months ago went nowhere.

Bump.
Microsoft says the new model 360 won't RROD. They say that not because of improved build quality or improved quality assurance testing. No, the new 360 won't RROD because it has no red lights. So instead, when the new 360 breaks, we'll get... a green ring of death, I suppose.
I feel a really strong compulsion to compare Microsoft to BP right now. -
Were getting them tommorow. I'll snap few picks.

I just got the last one at my local GameStop. Traded in our old Pro, but kept the 60 GB HD and substituted a 20 GB HD instead.
It's about 20% smaller than the old hardware. Shiny and black, very quiet system. Love seeing just over 200 GB of HD space left after transfering over everything from the old HD.
Internal wireless, a cool "ping" noise when the tray opens and closes. It's a nice system, but if you are in no hurry, I'd bet it will be down to $249 for this Holiday season.
The wife and I decided to get it mostly for the extra HD space. It was less expensive than buying a seperate 250 GB HD and we've got new hardware to boot. -
According to tests from Anandtech, the new 360 cuts down pretty nicely on power consumption and noise generation.
-
A $199 version of the new 360 will replace the defunct $149 Xbox 360 Arcade. There's also a Kinect bundle coming, probably at the $399 pricepoint.
-
Well it's already having it's desired effect. My roommate is considering picking up the new one and replacing his old model with it. I just can't justify the cost after buying an arcade last year and slapping the hard drive from my RROD one on it. Luckily I at least got 3+ years out of it. Unluckily it died like a week after the 3 year warranty offer on RROD passed for mine ;p

Quick question: What does Gamestop check when trading in an xbox? Do they check to see if has been opened? or do they just see if it works? Im going to trade mine in today and I want to know what they're going to look at.
-
not sure what they look for.. i think they just make sure it works. If they notice it has been opened, plead ignorance and say that you bought it used.
