Just a thought, humor me, call it a sociological experiment:
Would you support a rule that posters could only create 1 new thread per week?

Not in America. Free speech includes having to listen to, or read, lot's of stupid ish. God Bless us All

idk about one per week but i think id agree with *some* kind of thread count restriction.
-
No, I am tired of the PC police of the world trying to regulate what is acceptable. Everyone's opinion is just that. thephins.com is like the grocery store, you don't eat and buy everything inside, you go in and find what you like. Do the same with the threads around here and you will be much happier.

Post what you want. Read what you want. Don't worry about others.

Yes, great idea. Would force more critical thought.

Absolutely not, this place can be dead enough as it is without restricting members further. Just stay out of threads you don't like, or go join the high roller club.

Two things...
1. No chance id support this. Its basically a veiled way to try and eliminate reading some posters whose ideas you dont like. Be a little more open-minded (ironic coming from one of the most stubborn people you will meet).
2. Stop using this thread to take shots at other people. If it persists there will be repercussions.dolphin25 and Unlucky 13 like this. -
i am "politically correct" but thatas just being a good person, if you say things to intentionally offend people, you are a schmuck.
that said: i dont see what that has to do with post spamming though lol. im just saying use a damn search function and post in a preexisting thread, it aint rocket science. its a bit unruly to navigate with 7 threads on the same topic. -
Also, you didn't think this post was going to offend people? Really? I'm just being honest here, but I find that hard to believe, free speech is one of the cornerstones of this country.Boik14, Puka-head, Georgia Fin and 1 other person like this. -
and to be honest im probably as far left as youll find on this board. you can say whatever you want as long as you dont tell me what to do in my life on account of your beliefs! wading through six different TRADE PARKER FOR X threads seems a little excessive though, but thats me! -
No. Completely contrary to what a forum is all about.
dolphin25, Unlucky 13, Finster and 1 other person like this. -
Well I refuse to be politically correct but that does not mean I am going to go out and say things with the intention of insulting people either. I will speak my mind about things though and I put it to anyone out there that finds offense that you are the one that has the problem. I do not know when this country became so thin skinned but it does not serve anyone well. Even the ones who are supposedly offended.

Dirty Landry can only post once a week...in all seriousness not at all, that's what the forums are for.
-
No...
You guys shut down the PoFo when all you had to do was not visit that forum.
Same thing here. If someone starts what you believe is a stupid thread....DON'T OPEN IT!!!

Anyhow, if the topic was post spamming, you sure would't have known if from the opening post. It boils down to those of us who are not Club Members get to use this site for free and should be very appreciative. If these redundant threads are a problem for you, pony up to Club Level and leave it all behind. Otherwise, be thankful for a free, uncensored site to talk Dolphins football and accept it with it's imperfections.dolphin25, Tin Indian, Boik14 and 2 others like this. -
Lets stay on point, your OP was "can we restrict fans to X amount of threads?", on the surface it has nothing to do with MBE, we can't read your mind.
Being totally honest, not trying to personally attack anyone, I'm just giving my honest thoughts, I thought it was a troll thread, I thought it was a veiled attack at a couple posters that would in turn punish all posters.
What would this site become in TC with Galant, DLandry and Travis limited to 1 thread a week? It would become an ex-site.
"you can say whatever you want as long as you dont tell me what to do in my life on account of your beliefs!"
However, it's ok for you to tell others what they should do based on your beliefs? Because that is exactly what you suggested in your OP.
Your sociological experiment didn't have the desired results and you don't seem to like that so you've now contoured your OP.
I actually agree with your MBE message, your OP however did not cover that.dolphin25 and Georgia Fin like this. -
I think I have to add, I wasn't calling anyone a fascist, I hope you didn't take it that way, just the idea of squelching free speech at all smacks of a fascist ideology, as in anti-liberal democracy.
Perhaps I used the wrong word, but it was pointed at the idea, not the poster, and also with a bit of humor, that entire comment was an emphatic no sprinkled with dry humor. -
lol...
This has nothing to do with "free speech". This is not a Constitutionally protected web site. The owners/admins can allow or not allow anything they wish.
However, I think limiting possibly good threads would harm the site. Two Tacos, Boik14 and Unlucky 13 like this. -

They would usually be merged if more than one thread on the same topic is created. -
At it's heart a forum is just conversation among people with a common interest. How could restricting that conversation be of any possible benefit? No rule out there says you must participate in every thread in the forum, I sure don't. If I feel like commenting on a post I do, if I dont, I don't. I emplore all of us here to do the same.
-
the mods won't support this proposition... Partially because it came to light due to their incompetence ! This wouldn't be an issue on a forum with active moderators.
Obviously we have posters that think their opinion on thread deserves a new separate thread, and it drives down the quality. But I'm learning that chaos is preferred, starved for quantity and if there's morons flooding the mains, maybe it will draw more guys to pony up some dough for VIP. So basically the scheme is to have nuscences in the mains that convince you to spend.... The more the merrier.Last edited: Apr 29, 2017 -
Whoever runs this site owns it and can make whatever rules he or she wants. Having said that, and to the extent that my opinion is wanted, there should be a good reason for making a restrictive rule, and the reason should be so substantial as to outweigh members' freedom to post what they please. I leave that decision to the moderators, but my personal preference is no.
