I was wondering to who does Gholston compare most to right now in the NFL? I want us to take him with the first overall pick and wanted to hear some of your comments on him. Do you guys think he compares to Kamerion Wimbley of the Browns? If not, who and why? Thanks

Demarcus Ware.
-
I think he's a cross between DeMarcus Ware and Shawn Merriman.

On November 3, 2007, Gholston tied two Ohio State team records for quarterback sacks in a game when he dropped Wisconsin QB Tyler Donovan four times for a total loss of 32 yards. Two weeks later he recorded three sacks against the Michigan Wolverines to lead Ohio State to its fourth consecutive win over the Wolverines. Gholston tied the Buckeye record of 13 sacks in a single season set in 1995 by Mike Vrabel.[2]

interesting and impressive -
Julious Peppers or Merriman...tall athletic and relentless.....
Compared this youtube video vs Dorsey beating a freshman Auburn Guard:

He blew past two NFL players of the future, as a sophomore....the guy is freak....:ffic:
BTW THAT is how a #1 overall pick is supposed to play, as if he is surrounded by inferiors, go and take the play...this guy is good...Last edited: Dec 23, 2007 -
Parcells was responsible for drafting DeMarcus Ware wasnt he? Parcells seems to like these big athletic hybrid guys. And honestly, if hes as good as Ware we will have an unqualified success at #1.
Right now I think we have to be looking at Gholston, Dorsey and Chris Long. All three of these guys look really impressive right now.
BTW, have a friend whos a Michigan fan and says Jake Long gets blown up alot more than youd expect from a supposedly top rated tackle. I really think he is a guy whos stock could fall. -
I actually like the Vrabel and Gholston comparison. If we could somehow trade down to the #3 or #4 spot, I would LOVE to have him on this team. And after these last few weeks, I think Jason Taylor's value has risen and we could get some good value for him. A first is not out of the question for JT right now. He's motivated, wants a ring, and is still playing at an extremely high level.
-
Problem with Taylor is, he's put the dolphins in a terrible position with him. It's clear he wants to leave, he's going to be 34, and he's been a bad leader this year. Yes, he's playing like hes valued for first, but no way will we get it. -

Sweeper, sometimes in life all you can do is laugh. That play was insain,,,,,,,
What kind of fan are you to call a guy that plays for your team a "loser".That guy was making plays and playing good ball here two years ago, then he came back when we needed him.
If you were JT lol,,,,funk,,, thank god your not. What you said you'd do is what a " loser" would do. -
i would trade crowder
-
They are GROWN MEN they dont need to watch JT and have him MOTIVATE THEM and for him to be a LEADER they alreayd know HE IS THE LEADER and after 8 weeks he sees losers playing like crap he goes off on them which i respect. thats why i wish TO was on this team, he'd RIP THEIR ARSES Off just like saban did his 1st year half way thru the season. -
If i were JT id have asked to Organization to get rid of these losers somethign that hsoudl have been done a long time ago but when u dont have a big mouth behind this TEAM inside and out thats what u get...ppl that are satisfied with a multi mill pay check and a BJ at the end of the nite. -
Gholston has to.........HAS to.........be in the #1 pick mix. If you think he's DeMarcus Ware or Shawne Merriman and God knows, he has the skill set, then you have to take him at 1. The ceiling on him is massive. Massive.
The team likes Jake Long, but it has to come down to Gholston, Chris Long and Dorsey. -
At this point, I would almost be disappointed if we were to not select Gholston as the top pick. I'm sure after the combine when scouts get to marvel at his 4.5 40 and freak strength he'll get thrown into the top pick discussion. Outside of this board im not seeing anybody mentioning him as the potential #1 overall.

Sweeper, i was talking about Lance Schulters not picking off Tom.That was an insain play, cuzz it looked like he had it all the way.
What i was saying,,, then and now.Is that you can't call Lance Schulters a loser off of one play.Or call Vonnie Holliday a loser cuzz he didn't act the way you want him to.
I understand where you are coming from i do, but it's a very " i'm young and still trying to figer sh@t out point of view" But yo dog' i feel ya i do lol, peace!!! -
this is how it usually plays out; players from big schools are rated at the top during the regular season in order to boost ratings. Once the media isn't broadcasting games for michigan, ohio state, lsu, florida, etc. theyll stop riding the popular names so hard
but at that point, theyll start riding the guys from the lesser known schools. theyll refer to these guys as 'rising up the boards fast'.
and its really hard to avoid this. even if you go to the small, independent draft websites, so much of what they see is determined by what is televised, what is popular, etc. It is very hard to get a good composite of what the draft will look before the season ends
