you know. thats actually a good team for him to go to. they have adrian peterson so he wont have to be the focus of the offense
-
-
I also think that Minny would be good because VY does well with the deep ball and obviously Sidney Rice would be a great WR to do that with. Plus I agree with you Adam that him not being the focus would help him because we saw how well he did down the stretch in 09 with Chris Johnson rolling up 100 yard game after 100 yard game. Plus I think guys like Jared Allen would help keep him from becoming a locker room problem.
-
Well, bigger picture it also would mean one less team drafting a Qb ahead of us in April.

great news. Vince Young would have tanked this franchise to the absolute bottom for the next couple of years. he needs a system where a good offense is already in place, not one that desperately needs a QB like us.

Vikings supposedly want to draft a QB

I guess it depends on that young guy," Frazier said. "Ideally, you'd like to find the Matt Ryans of the world, the Joe Flaccos of the world and ride with one of those guys. But it doesn't always happen that way. We just kind of have to see where things fall. If we find someone like that, you'd like to build around him. That really gives you a chance for the long term. But as I mentioned it doesn't always happen that way. If we have to go with a veteran guy while we're developing that young guy, I'm not opposed to that either. But ideally, find a young guy, build around him and know you're going to have him for that next nine or 10 years as your starting quarterback. But those guys are sometimes hard to find."
Said Musgrave: "Ideally, you would like to find a young guy that has a bunch of promise and potential and you would hand him the keys and let him make his mistakes and learn and but also know that he would be there for you in the long term. That's ideal. I believe that will be one of our goals to identify any candidates that can fit that role but at the same time be ready to find some other fellows that may have some experience, that can come in and be effective and also have some upside to them as well."
I wish Ireland and Sparano were saying the same things... -
only issue with that is there will still be a team with a need at qb in tennessee whom if lets vy walk would have tom collins(little alchohol joke) and....so i could see tennessee needing to make a play at qb and with a vet already on the roster it may come down to draftng new blood at the position.tennessee not drafting before us doesn't mean they couldn't move up if they have conviction on a particular guy.

Good. Anybody but us, please.

Vikes hired a Qb coach who was tight with Young, seems fairly clear to me that they will make a huge push for him if he is released.
But, I have seen teams pay bonuses when no one thought they would, Albert Haynesworth comes to mind, so it is entirely possible they pay him, wait out the CBA issues, then trade him for a 2012 high draft pick. -

Still and all, same was said about Mike Vick and tbh, VY has been to two pro bowls in the last 5 seasons, the Dolphins have not had a Pro Bowl Qb since... -
Sparano has a way of inspiring players to play at their best effort. I don't doubt that Young can be effective. He doesn't throw too many picks, has a deep ball to keep a defense honest, and his mobility is excellent. He'll get you down the field at least as well as Chad Henne.

Vince doesnt belong in the NFL as anything other than a backup. I'd take Henne over him any day. I think Vick is a better option for the Vikings than Young. With all the weapons the Vikes have, Vick wouldn't miss a beat moving from Philly to Minny. Rice, Harvin, Peterson, and Shancaoe (sp?) would be plenty to get er dun.
-
Good. I hope Minnesota takes him, because I don't want that nutcase in Miami.

Interesting factoid about Young, his 4.25 million dollar roster bonus is NOT due on a fixed date, say 3/4/11 it is due 10 days into a new NFL year, meaning 10 days AFTER a CBA is signed.

To me, with that contract he would be worth maybe a 4th rd pick, and he would have to take a paycut as 12 millie for a pine rider/camp competition makes little sense in a Salary Cap environment.
