This play doesn't matter. The whole point of it was it knocked New England out of the #1 seed which was moot in the end.

Awesome play. But that was the last game they won so it's hard for me to forget the lows that followed that high.(Much like drug withdrawal)

And it was the Dolphins fault the Patriots went on to win, so that makes sense.
Geez you guys. I know the Dolphins have been disappointing/frustrating/infuriating/'pick your adjective', but what's done is done. That one play will go down in history as one of the most surprising, shocking, almost impossible come back plays in the NFL. Dolphins players, who have also suffered from and through bad management and coaching will remember and enjoy that play - because whatever else happened, they made that happen and earned that win.
You take the bad with the good. Let's just try to enjoy this one highlight in a low light season.
But if you believe that such enjoyment is wrong because the rest isn't sorted yet and as a fan you have to be critical or negative right now, well we'll have to agree to disagree.
The play was an awesome 'hail mary' moment, similar to when Michael Thomas pulled off a game winning interception in his first few minutes as a Dolphin.
I, for one, enjoyed it, and think it was one if the most spectacular plays of the season. I have no problems supporting the team and voting for the play. And if I may be so bold, I think everyone else should too.

The Cleo Lemon to Greg Camarillo miracle (Yes, that was a miracle) has more significance in Dolphins history then this play ever will.

I don't get all the negativity at all. On any given Sunday, if the Fins win then I'm ecstatic. If they beat a division rival, then it makes my entire week. Where I differ from others here is that if we lose 77-3 the following week, that doesn't mean the previous win doesn't matter. In some ways, it matters even more because it shows the team's potential when everything clicks.
I told this story the week after the Miami Miracle- we had 14 inches of snow in South Carolina that day. No power. No water. Stranded. And obviously no Direct TV to watch the game. At the very last minute though, I remembered I could get the Sunday Ticket app on my tablet with Verizon internet. So I walked through the snow to my dad's house...and since cellular reception wasn't good enough there, we walked all the way back to my place around halftime. My dad's 84....not an easy walk at all. We were freezing, got the fireplace lit, and watched the 2nd half in a dark room with the fireplace roaring. And then it happened when all hope was lost...the play of the decade.
The Miami Miracle may have been the best day of my life as a Dolphins fan for so many reasons....and it amazes me that some "fans" here would say the win didn't matter. It would have mattered to me without the story to go along with it, and it will matter to the team this coming season when we face NE and try to keep our home winning streak alive against them. It's the absolute best story in sports, the David vs Goliath redemption, and how we keep beating the top dynasty in modern football on our home turf.
The losses that followed show that that victory was even more improbable- we never should have scored those first 28 points to be in that position in the first place. It was a great team win though and deserves to be honored by ESPN.resnor, rafael, Pauly and 1 other person like this. -
It was a nice moment but even now it is mostly forgotten.resnor likes this. -

When you vote go thru and vote for all the lower seeds in the other brackets. See if we can eliminate the stronger competition early

that scenario, you know the one where the team tanked and the staff got fired doesn’t make me all sentimental and appreciative like some, happy for you all if it does, rock on man.Last edited: Jun 23, 2019 -

You as well as others I dont mean to single you out are ragging on the play because of the impact it had on either you or the season afterwards.
My point is that by your standards the end result of the play, if you believe it ruined the season, should be a positive and not a negative.
If we make the playoffs or win our last two games I guarantee you Gase is still here. That would be a much worse long term effect in your eyes than losing a couple games right? -

Alright guys, putting on my mod hat for a minute, as frustrating as this might be for members on either side of this debate (and as surprising, perhaps, as this debate might have been) let's not let this get too direct/personal.
Ultimately, this post is just about a fun vote. If you've voted or want to vote, great, if for whatever reason you won't, that's fine too.
Even the discussion about why one might or might vote is interesting and good, as long as it stays civil.
And now if I may propose an alternate angle on this - What's your all-time favourite, single Dolphins play and why?Dol-Fan Dupree likes this. -
2) The 1st Wildcat game against NE- take your pick which play. Beating NE always ranks high on my list and we slaughtered them that day.
3) Marino's fake spike/TD throw. It just always felt special.
4) Take your pick of Jason Taylor's strip sack TD's or pick 6's. Maybe the game winner against Minne?
5) The first game in Joe Robbie Stadium. It was against the Bears and we ran the opening kickoff back for a TD. I was there as a teen and that one always felt pretty special.Dol-Fan Dupree likes this. -
The Miami Miracle doesn't come anywhere close to top 5 all time in Dolphins history IMO because for me historical significance matters. So many great (and historically important) Miami plays that people just don't remember. Here's a nice refresher:
As for my favorite it starts at 3:29 in that video: Marino throwing a pass that was batted away and through luck landed in Clayton's arms for a TD against the previously undefeated Bears on Monday Night Football week 13 (I remember watching this).
The reason? Simple: the historical significance of that game is hard to overstate because without a Dolphins win the Bears go undefeated and everyone will say the '85 Bears are the greatest NFL team ever (for a single season). As it stands right now, depending on who you ask they'll either say it's the '72 Dolphins or '85 Bears, but only the '72 Dolphins hold the distinction of having a perfect season in both regular season and playoffs in ALL of NFL history since 1920!!!Last edited: Jun 24, 2019Galant likes this.
