It's 50 miles.
I'm aware it would be no cake walk; but if 100 miles can be done in a day (http://walking.about.com/od/ultratraining/a/schiedam100.htm) than I think I can do 50. Plus I'd be at the beach afterwards. Getting back has yet to be thought out but we have DARTs that run up and down the state that I would probably use. I'd probably walk to the coast and head down along the beach until I reach the beach of choice, rehoboth.
This came to mind after reading the information in this thread

The two have nothing related to one another except that him sailing around the world is a huge accomplishment. Obviously my walk to the beach wouldn't even be 1/4th of a par of what he has accomplished. I would be proud of myself if I did this though.
It would be after July 29th but before school started for me (later in august I think).

unless you mean mentally which i think you do -
i think you need to go to the beach in your mind and make a sand castle of love.

People run marathons all the time...(26 miles)...so with some training....why not?
you first though. -
brother I wish you all the best with this but that would be a brutal walk. Wear good shoes. How many minutes per mile do you think you can do?
-
8 minutes/per mile * 50 miles = 400 minutes or 6 hours and 2/3rds of an hour. youch....
-
i have good shoes  -
I used to do a 50 mile bike ride every year for charity on my mountain bike.. it's a long way on wheels.. much less feet. Go do twenty and see how the leg cramps and blisters work out.. to cold turkey 50 miles on your first crack is to set yourself up for failure that will have nothing to do with determination or heart.Sethdaddy8 and NaboCane like this. -
should try that soon when there's good weather.
edit: and time it.cnc66 likes this. -

You realize that if you walk 50 miles there you have to walk 50 miles back right?

If its something you want to try I say go for it, I personally wouldnt but I mean I understand the need to prove something to yourself. I for example want to run a marathon eventually. -

Why not trying to ride the bike?
From what I understand you dont have one, but is there you could perhaps borrow? -
The reason why i want to walk and not ride it is because I enjoy walking more than I do riding a bike. Even at 50 miles. -
Personally, Id follow Marty's advice and to halfway and back.
You will walk fifty miles, and you wont have to walk 50 miles back. -

50 miles only in my dreams sadly.
So congrats to you for actually setting a goal and feeling you can accomplish it, that's more than most of us can say and I know you can do it. -

My last post started with a congrats on that but then I said he said "hypothetically" so never mind.
Now that I know for sure I definitely congratulate you as 20 miles is a long long walk and also glad to see you doing things you want without holding back anymore. Its an admirable thing and I say that in all honesty. :yes:anlgp likes this. -
