Finsider interview on the official site, but two things stuck out to me:
- When asked about how he feels about the WR corps, he says (paraphrasing) "with Hartline working the middle and Gibson working the outside"
- When asked whose speed has surprised him he said Miller. He said he thought Miller was more of a bigger brusier type runner. Seemed really impressed with his speed. (He also named Wheeler as impressive keeping up with a TE stride for stride. Also said some of the players are trying to get him and Thiggy to race....he said Thiggy probably shouldn't want to do that....)

Haha on the Thiggy comment! Who really wants to race Wallace?
I really like Miller's speed as well though to hear Wallace talk about it is impressive. I will especially like it if we get the FB signed and can open up some holes. The kid is simply going to be explosive if he gets some holes. I simply don't think you can underestimate the value of having a running game to the passing game and vice-versa. You get a couple of holes and explosive 20-30 yard runs and Boom(!) the D is off-balance and some passing lanes can open up.GMJohnson, Bpk, djphinfan and 1 other person like this. -

Well, I think the difference in this offense is that they want to use the short passing game to open up the running lanes and take the 8th man out of the box. With the arsenal of WRs, we have that opportunity, assuming Tanny gets the job done...I don't know that a bruiser type FB is required, but it would help but at the same time make us more predictable...if the FB is in the formation, there's usually only 2 WRs on the field...??

I picture the FB being used in various formations. Basically you'll have two backs and 3 receivers (WR or TE) or even the FB in a single back with 4 receivers (I could see that in a second and short for example where we either take a shot or pound it in for the easy first depending on the D's alignment).

Can't wait to see our new weapons this year. Last year we had Tannehill and that was basically it (for new weapons). this year we'll see a full season out of Miller, Keller, Wallace. Those are the 3 I'm most excited about.

I've got a feeling that when Wallace said to Tannehill he isn't running full speed, he's means it literally, in practice he just doesn't need to go full speed, only serious game situations when theres something on the line, will you see max output...me likey...( maniacal laugh)

Side tangent, this is the complaint I've voiced about the NFLN Top 100 list. Players on a team like Miami who have seen a string of losing seasons are likely to receive less recognition from players of the 18 teams not on our 2012 schedule. Conversely, making the playoffs would provide studs like Wake and Pouncey an opportunity to show their stuff on a broad scale while most of the NFL is sitting home watching. This is why I shake my head when fans get all uppity toward those who rightfully label some of the list a joke, and back up their uppityness by saying fans are idiots for questioning the players b/c they should know more about other players than the fans who, unlike the players, spend Sunday, Monday, and Thursday plastered in front of the TV watching more than just one team per week. Heck, some of us watch multiple games at a time (like I do at the bar), and many of us now pay significant attention to the entire league thanks to the advent of fantasy football, with the aid of Sunday Ticket and NFL Rewind. Plus, we die-hard fans probably spend more time watching these players in college to boot, so right from the start we have better familiarity with them as a whole than NFL players do. My rant of the day. lol -
Well? If Wallace had no reason to "review" or "watch" Miller?? Why did he have an assumption?
And ofcourse us fans know more, we pay attention to way more aspects of the game. Example? Tanny not knowing the divisions?? Mcnaab not knowing their were ties?? Hell look no further than the Top 100 players as voted on by the players!! Cam Wake 89 hahahahaha.Samphin likes this. -

No more 8 in the box, just get him to the 2nd level and let him do his thing...I can't wait to see that sh&$. -
I'm really excited about Miller this year for both the Dolphins and hopefully fantasy football. IMO he's more talented than Portis was. I think in the right offense he can be that 1300-1500 yard back. I think this offense will be the right offense too. I'm envisioning a steady diet of positive runs with several breakaway TDs sprinkled in. I'm hoping to pick him up in the 3rd or 4th round and have him be a top 5-10 fantasy producer. It's been a long time since I've been excited about any Miami offensive players in the top four rounds of my fantasy football league draft. This year I think both Miller and RT have a chance to be top 10 fantasy producers at their positions.

Not saying he should ha e studied tape last year, but I would hope that he would know a little bit about his new teammates since signing that contract. It's not too hard to ask someone for a quick rundown on who he is playing with. I'm not really concerned about it other than it seems odd to have that preconceived notion about Miller based on nothing. Why would he think he is a bruiser if, as you guys say, he has no reason to review videotape?
Lamar Miller sort of sounds like a heavy name though...so maybe it's based on that.
Maybe he is just sooooo fast that everyone else seems slow and bruising. :wink2: -

I've got a dilemma in my fantasy football keeper league this year. Our league permits you can keep 2 players each season, however, you have to forfeit a draft pick the next year to keep the player and it progresses by a round each year.
I had gotten rid of one of my keepers from 2011 last year, but kept Julio Jones. I had drafted him in the 4th round, so I forfeited a 3rd round pick for him last year and would forfeit a 2nd round pick this year. Once you pass your 1st round pick, the player automatically goes back in the draft.
For some reason we did a 15 round draft last year, and I drafted Lamar Miller as "Mr. Irrelevant" and just stashed him. So, losing a 14th round pick this year won't sting at all - I'm keeping him for sure. I picked up Ryan Tannehill as a free agent last year; so, do I bank on Tannehill and only forfeit a 15th round pick, or do I bite the bullet and keep Jones for another year and forfeit a 2nd round pick? With the way our league's scoring system is setup, receivers are pretty premium players.
Any thoughts? -
-
I'd say probably not and with QB being so deep why would you?
Don't get me wrong he's going to make for a great backup but I can't rationalize throwing a talent like Julio back and trying to scramble to replace him. -
