I think this puts us in the playoffs

Like it matters. We'd get destroyed in the first round...AGAIN. We are not a playoff worthy team. Go ahead and question my fanhood, but we need the higher pick that not making the playoffs will give us.

no they don't according to this

Which I think can happen with Pittsburgh next week. Now its just if Miami can win out...which because they are at home I think they can.TheAnswer385 likes this.

Just to clarify this, Baltimore plays Oakland in week 17 so I'd say we need a loss next week by them against Pittsburgh.
-
no they don't we need New England to beat Jax

Higher picks have little correlation to the player's success over the coarse of a few picks. I'll take every win and be happy about it.Starry31 likes this.

Okie dokie. While it's not a guarantee that a higher pick is going to be a stud, you have a better chance at getting a better player with a higher pick than with a lower pick.
If this team had showed anything to me that we could be competitive in the playoffs, I'd be hoping for the playoffs as well. However, all they have shown is that they will get destroyed. Watch teams like Dallas...they are on a complety different level than us.

People the Ravens are winning 14-0. If they win today we need the Steelers and the RAIDERS to beat them. It's a very very long shot.

IMO Miami is very much a playoff caliber team just like Tennessee. All of us should also remember Denver has not wrapped anything up yet.
Essentially if we beat Hou, Pitt. wins, NE wins (a win win game for Miami btw), and SD wins then the Miami-Pitt. game becomes the game that will determine a playoff spot.
We need considerable help but we will still be in it no matter what if we win out. -
BTW the Raiders are doing Miami a huge favor in Denver today and Oakland has been an AFC North killer so far this year.
-
If Oakland beats Denver, the outcome of possible scenarios turns into the same formula that college uses for it's ratings.
-
right they are! I'm watching it at the moment... its the only thing that's keeping me from jumping off a bridge... :shifty: We need to do a full playoff scenario knowing we still have a shot with Balt, NE or Denver...padre31 likes this.

True but strength of victory/schedule would then give Miami the tiebreaker.
Also holy freaking crap the Bears are back in it. -
I still don't get what people really expect from Miami at this point though. This team is overachieving mostly due to coaching at this point. Sure Miami has given games away but talent wise and injury wise this team shouldn't really be at say a Pittsburgh level which we are. This team has a rookie qb, rookie cbs, and we are missing several important players due to injury. I gave Miami 7 to 9 wins before this season as a healthy team and the fact they can do it with a depleted team is a good sign for the future. Miami is a team two years from a 1 win season and is still rebuilding. This team is doing great considering this team could have went the Cleveland or St. Louis way but have since turned it around. This is a good team that we should all be proud of but understand they are not yet Super Bowl caliber...but simply playoff caliber and two years after 1 win that is a great place to be.

come on bro? How can anyone still talk playoffs.. Although we arent "mathematically" eliminated, we eliminated ourselves when we lost to buffalo.. We arent a playoff team
-
Justin gage.. dude.. dont you know he is a hall of famer?

-
Very true. Miami needs help but if Miami wins next week we could find ourselves right back in it.
-
I hope your not comparing our offense to theirs
-
I didn't know it would be this easy with a Dolphins loss today. We're pretty much in the same boat we'd of been with a victory aside from our division chances. We've got a great shot at this thing if we can protect our home field over the next two games. To those of you who don't believe we'd have a shot @CIN or @NE, who cares? Play as long as you can. It's exciting to be apart of the playoffs in the NFL regardless.
I think Pittsburgh will stand tall at home against a division rival next week. Don't see Jax winning @NE either. -
Well if Baltimore finds a way to choke their game today. Our loss won't mean a thing today really...so let's keep up hope. Its simple Miami wins out (at home) and Tennessee and Baltimore lose just once Miami makes the playoffs...its not a huge longshot (now the division is).
-
it is a team sport. -
If Baltimore loses and Pittsburgh wins there will be SEVEN teams at 7-7. That's ridiculous.
What's the tiebreaking procedure for a 7-way tie? -
-
No comparisons made, just providing examples of things that happen. Point being, if others want to still hope to make it to the playoffs, let em hope.
-
yes, but unfortunately for us, we arent in the worst division in the league. Didnt the cardinals have their division won by week 14 of last year?
-
Steel Cage?
-
I just did the playoff thing, and generated who I legitimately think will win the rest of the games and it got us in!

Apparently Baltimore has to lose to Pittsburgh though, not just Oakland. -
Here is the up to date playoff picture via nfl.com. Essentially all Miami has to do is win out and have Tennessee and Baltimore lose once.

BTW to make everyone feel better Miami is ranked as the number 1 7-7 team in the hunt (although I think the Titans should be ahead of us but they have us ranked ahead because of conference record but yet we are ahead of Jax who has a better conference record lol). -
So basically the best shot for the Phins to make the playoffs rests on the Steelers beating the Ravens next week? Of course the Dolphins would also have to win the next 2. The Ravens are cruising right now.
