Update: Week 1 Just Got a Bit Easier
http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2010/08/13/jackson-to-miss-rest-of-preseason/
Fred Jackson out for at least the remainder of the preseason. They're not sure if he'll be ready for week 1. And Marshawn Lynch injured his ankle.

Figures, probably the one team the first half of the schedule we didn't need help against
-
Pessimist?
Last time I checked, we LOST to Buffalo in a game we didn't need help to beat.
I want wins. I don't care how we get em!Ultra, Agua, Wagon Circler and 9 others like this. -
They might be the worst team in the NFL, they looked horrible last night.
-
I just hope we don't take them for granted. We could easily lose this game if we don't come in mentally prepared. This injury could contribute to us being over confident...

Yeah they looked terrible last night. One thing's for sure; they're got no depth.
Looks like it might all be on CJ Spiller in the run game. He's lightning in a bottle. But we were able to shut down Chris Johnson last year without Ferg and a banged up Crowder. So I like our chances.
That said, they've got some receivers who've burnt us in the past. And the secondary -- specifically stopping the big play -- is an area which we've got to prove ourselves.PhinsRock, cnc66 and Frumundah Finnatic like this. -
"WE" (the fans) can take them for granted because we aren't playing them. I can honestly say that my overconfidence has never made the Miami Dolphins lose a game.FinsAreLife, Fin-Omenal and GARDENHEAD like this. -

We're not good enough yet, especially in the first game of the year to be 'overlooking' anyone. The fact that they are division rivals makes it that much more imperative that we focus each and every week on the opponent at hand and don't overlook anyone.

That team is awful.Trowa likes this. -
I like Spiller but it's easy to play defense when you only have to focus on one player. Buffalo looked horrid the other night, both their #1 and their depth. Obviously, in the NFL any team is good enough to beat another team playing a sloppy and/or mistake laden game so nothing is a gimme, but I think the Dolphins are the much better team.
-
Having said they sucked, which they probably will, they still have one of the best secondaries in the NFL. Hopefully we run it down their throats...finyank13 likes this. -

Fragile Freddy out with an injury??? That's a shocker. We just better not sleep on CJ Spiller. He can break one at anytime.

Those kind of games are more common early in preseason moreso than later on. Camp just broke or will break this week/weekend give or take a few days. Once that happens and the workload decreases, you'll see a better measuring stick for most teams.
I'm not saying they aren't in deep doo doo up there, but it just may not be as bad as last night.Wagon Circler likes this. -
Eh, I don't put much into preseason. I'll still be a little nervous along with my excitement for that game in Buffalo. Dolphins haven't started 1-0 since 2005, and they also lost their opening games the 2 years before that I think. I'm used to them being flat to start a season haha, let's hope they change that this year, they have a good opportunity. The first 4 games all seem winnable, with Favre possibly not playing for the vikings. Then tough games with Jets/Pats but they're home games, and the Jets won't have Holmes and might not have Revis.(I think he'll be back though)
Last year they won all 4 pre-season games then came out and looked dead against Atlanta[yes, a better team than Buffalo, but still].Wagon Circler and padre31 like this. -
The Bills looked horrible last preseason also. Then they went on the road in Week 1 and beat the Pats. Oh, wait, McKelvin fumbled the KO with two minutes to go so they lost, but they were the better team for most of the night.
Don't see that happening with us though. Their OL & DL are horrendous. QB awful. Only one NFL WR. Poz is hurt (again), Reggie Torbor is starting at WOLB, LMAO. They put 8 in the box on virtually every snap and we still ran all over them last year. This year, they'll play us honest or get Marshall'd. And I'm sure the coaches will show lots of film of that 31-14 debacle last year to stamp out any complacency. Miami 31, Buffalo 14. Mark it down. -
-
Well, when the Bills were going to super bowls, they ALWAYS looked horrible in the preseason so aside from the injuries I really don't take much from that game.
Freddie Jackson quietly had one of the All Time Great seasons in terms of All Purpose yardage, Jackson had 2,600 total yards last season..the most in the NFL.
I do think the Bills will miss Bobby April the ST guru, you cannot lose a Coach whose unit consistently ranked #1 in the NFL for years then just expect the same performance. -
Fred Jackson will miss 4-6 weeks.
Marshawn Lynch will miss 3-4 weeks.
That means Jackson will miss the game versus Miami and Lynch is still one ulgy mofo!!!

Another Bill bites the dust! Darrius Byrd's groin has flared up and he's out indefinitely.

Unfortunately, "indefinitely" in preseason usually applies until the end of the preseason, and then the player is miraculously ready to go for week 1. Pass defense is about the only thing the Bills do right, so hopefully Byrd really is gone for a while.finyank13 likes this. -

We may as well end this because I know you and where this is headed...... good luck to ya -
However, later in the yr, in the cold in Buffalo, they tend to win games.
They have Detroit, Pitt, Cleveland, New England late in the yr, there are some wins in there for the Bills. -
-
Keep in mind JS..George Edwards knows the Dolphins inside and out, do not put it past them to keep that one close.
But you have to admire Wagon Circler's pluck, though I suspect like most Bills fans, he quietly has -0- faith in Trent Edwards..and this is a Quarterback driven league. -
Bottom line is that we should be a ten point favorite in this game and for good reason.....
Of course anything can happen...... but that is a very poor team and them choosing Gailey as coach is a serious head scratcher. -
Keep in mind JS..we haven't won an opener since 2005.
I can understand hiring Chan Gailey, his teams tend to finish around .500 typically 6-10, his rep as a Qb guru along with his willingness to work for cheap.
What I cannot understand is trying to catch lightning in a bottle twice by going with a UDFA/Late Rd pick to play Left Tackle as if Jason Peters types just grow on trees.
And switching to the 3-4 with their personnel on the Front 7 seems a bit daft, especially after giving Stroud a boatload of money add in Aaron Maybin STILL has not beaten out Reggie Torbor at OLB and signs are not good for the Bills "D".
Torbor can't run, we all saw it last yr, and now he is a Will linebacker?
That will not be pretty to watch if one is a Bills fan. -
It's a set back to a team that needs a complete over haul and someone competent at the helm to oversee it..... he won't last more than 2 years. And it'll be a wasted two years at that -
