Not to disagree but how does beating the Jets knock them out of the running for the #1 spot?

With two banged up defenses.. a frustrated jets defense that may send a message to their front office.. i actually expect a lot of scoring in this game...30-27 idk who wins

 

They both suck and are going nowhere. If Miami beats them it means nothing. If the Jets were 5-3 I would hope the Dolphins smash their dreams.

The whole "I don't care F the Jests!!!" means absolutely nothing right now.

 

So what has meaning then? Losing?

 

This whole season has no meaning.

 

Miami can win this game and STILL control getting the #1 pick. We can lose the second game versus the Jests and the game versus the Bengals and get that first pick. Anyone saying we'd drop to the #3 pick with a win today is ignoring the Dolphin schedule.

 

If we get the #1 pick and solve our QB problem, then this season has tons of meaning. Even without getting the #1 pick, if we draft well enough with all the high draft picks we got for key players traded to rebuild the team into something more than mediocre, then it definitely has meaning. Of course we might whiff on those draft picks (not that unlikely lol) and then this season is worthless!

Can't tell if this season is meaningful or not until we see how future draft picks turn out.

And btw.. if this "tanking" doesn't work, there's no question where the real fault lies: Ross. It means he can't find the right HC and GM.

 

If we win ANY game and have a better win% than any other team afterwards.. you can't go around thinking we "control our destiny" for the #1 pick even if it's mathematically possible because that means we're not tanking. So until Cinci starts winning, I'm not going to root for us to win hoping we can somehow make up for it afterwards because we probably won't!

 

It's so quiet... and empty in that stadium today. Wow.

Also anyone catch that stat just before the game started? In Adam Gase's 31 career losses, 25 of them have been a loss by double digits. Wow.

 

It will come down to Strength of Schedule as the tiebreaker for all the 1-15 teams. All I'm saying is that 0-16 isn't necessary to get the #1 pick if Miami wins today. They can tank AND not join the 0-16 teams in infamy.
