I am excited to make the 2007 season a distant memory in the rear view mirror, along with returning this proud franchise to it's glory days again.

The first thing that came to me was R. Brown in the backfield running over people with Jake leading the way.
Let's have fun with these and write down your five things......Fin Fan In Cali likes this. -
I'm excited about everything. There's just so much that will be going on ... battles at so many positions, changes in philosophies, changes in schemes, etc. Can't wait!

I'm excited to see what the new regime can do with the boat load of young talent we have on both sides of the ball. Jason Allen, Channing Crowder, Phillip Merling, Matt Roth, Randy Starks, Ted Ginn, Derek Hagan, Anthony Fasano, Samson Satele, Jake Long, Chad Henne, John Beck, etc. These guys are important to our future success and I can't wait to see how they perform with better coaching.

I am excited about an attacking defense rather then one that was getting run over for 60 minutes. I am also excited about sustained drives on offense, rather then going three and out.

Porter moving to his correct position and wreaking havoc.
Ronnie coming back to full strength and showing he can get back to last year's form.
Keith Davis annihilating people.
Merling signing and getting a good amount of playing time.
Moses/Anderson taking JT's spot or the other side.jdang307, Fin Fan In Cali and alen1 like this. -
I get excited every year about this time especially with the changes to the coaching staff. I'd like to see Beck and Ginn suprise the rest of the league.
I just hope that last year will be seen as the kick up the a** the franchise needed and starts us on a long period of success!Fin Fan In Cali likes this. -

I should say I'm excited to see what Beck can do too but thats 50/50 with nervous.
Ginn should do just fine, I think his game depends more on the OL and QB then whether or not he has the tools.
O yea most of all, I'm excited to see:
A REAL TRAINING CAMP WITH COACHES THAT UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF CONDITIONING THEIR PLAYERS!
If we're in the best shape possible, we're in for an exciting year.Last edited: Jul 24, 2008Fin Fan In Cali likes this. -

Beating the Jets on opening day.
Watching a young scrappy team getting after it.
A coach who know when to kick the flipping field goal and when to go for it on 4th down. Special teams which will probably be our best unit this year...Fin Fan In Cali likes this. -
The new "No-Name Defense" is tops on my list to see how they perform. Last year was terrible defensively and I'm hoping that we can see a return to 2006's defensive form. I am particularly excited to see how Merling and our other rookie defensive players perform as well as our new free agents like Ayodele, Torbor, etc.
Then there is the offense and a position I am particularly interested besides the QB battle is the TE battle to see who starts there. Then seeing how this new o-line does against competition this season is something I'm keeping my eyes on.
Overall its a new year, anything can happen, and I'm excited. -
I want to see the stadium have a full capacity again, sooner than later :)
And of course what most have mentioned already. Brown, Beck/Henne, Long, Ginn, Crowder, philospophy, scheme's, attitude, culture.gafinfan likes this. -
To see Ted Ginn make everybody say, "Devin Hester who?"

I am excited to actually have something to be excited about considering the debacle of last season and the season before.
I am also excited about the status of our salary cap and the fact our team is slowly becoming younger and younger. -
I am looking forward to watching a new young team rebuilding....seeing how our O-line jells and hopefully opens up huge holes for Ronnie and Ricky to run through. Hopefully one of our three QB's will step up and at least show us something at the position, which we haven't had since Dan retired. I also am looking forward to seeing how our defense plays without Zach and JT. I am sure it wil be rough at times, but I think we will be ok. I think we can air it out a little more on offense and get Ginn involved more. Can't wait.

Just 5 things? Where to begin:
1. Ted Ginn having an actual NFL caliber Special Teams unit blocking for him on returns, he had "3" last year, with full time Special Teamers who knows what he can do this year?
2. Ronnie and Ricky back together in the backfield.
3. All the young guys on the defense, and our Secondary Depth, I love the thought of Jason Allen carrying over last seasons performance, Goodman looking healthy, Roth, Merling, Langford..
4. Three decent QB prospects for a change.
5. Our Oline, this is the most talent we have had on the Oline in decades, I can't wait to see Jake Long pancake people... -
I wanna see us score some damn points and to have a head coach who looks like he knows what he's doing at least.
I'm sick of the bonehead playcalling and decision making. Thank god Cameron and Mularkey are gone. -
I'm excited about having 3 picks in the first 2 rounds of the Draft for two years in a row!!
Long+Merling+Henne 2008
1st+2nd+2nd 2009
Thats a big youth movement on the way!!
I'm excited for the fact that the Wanny influence on this team is definately over!!After 3 years!! Man, that's a mess one guy created..... -

My cousin posted there and he told me I can bring his comment here as I agree with him:
"Hoping they dont suck too bad but bad enough to get a top pick???!?!?!
SCREW THAT.
Whats up with people? We lost 6 games last season by 3 points or less.
Another 2-3 where lost because of just BAD coaching.
I believe that we have improved in many areas.
We CAN go 8-8 this season (maybe 9-7), I can't believe this junk about going in a season and phoning it in already."
Maybe me and him have our shades on but other than at QB, I dont see this team any better or worse than our 1989 team and I forsee a similiar outcome to this season. -
Good thread.
I'm excited about
1 the offensive and defensive schemes we are employing
2 the offensive line...esp. Jake Long
3 seeing a new young QB emerge to save the franchise.
4 watching the players play with heart
5 new additions we got during free agency...Fasano, Croker, Jones, Torbor, Ferguson, Wilford etc...
6 Sporano commanding the troops.Last edited: Jul 25, 2008 -
1. Joey Porter making a dominating comeback as a pass rushing OLB
2. QB battle in preseason and camp.
3. Ricky running behind a line that is 3 times better than what we had in 2002.
4. Ted Ginn showing the league just how far speed and quickness can take you.
5. Tony Sparano establishing an identity as a head coach.
EDIT: Absolutely no disrespect to Ronnie. But I think the staff will hold him back from being a major contributor this season. At least for the first half. But I cannot wait to see him take the field at 100% again. Watching him last year gave me goosebumps. He was running like a possessed version of Eddie George. Unleash the beast, but only when the timing is right.Last edited: Jul 25, 2008 -
