There are enough #17 threads. Come here to escape and discuss the other 89 players, Philbin, lReland, cheerleaders, the seats at Sunlife etc.
Do NOT bring up #17 here, please. Plenty of other places to discuss that.
So what's on your mind?

- I want to see Clay become a better blocker and inline player. To me he is a natural pass catcher and can do some serious YACin in open field, if he can get his blocking game up and be on the field more often, I think he can be a super serious weapon for us this year and down the line.
- I want to see more interior pass rush, and hope the Dolphins but Odrick back inside more often because it doesn't seem like he'll get much pressure off the edge. Where has Randy Starks been this preseason? Talk about being silent -
I want to see Daniel Thomas emerge and justify his draft position.
I want to see Reshad Jones establish himself as a playmaker in the secondary (at least as far as our safeties are concerned).
I want to see our ragtag group of WRS (and it will be that no matter which 5/6 that they settle on) shock the football world by performing well as a group (2400+ yds and 12+ TDs).dolfan32323, BlameItOnTheHenne, Nappy Roots and 1 other person like this. -

My thoughts EXACTLY!
Add two things.
I want to see VD take the next step and play like hes capable.
I want to see someone emerge as a pass rusher on the other side of Wake. -
- Interesting to note, guys, that with this pass-oriented athletic group of TEs, Joe Philbin worked with tight ends at U of Iowa, so he must have a decent plan and vision for these guys.
- Arsenal, I think the staff would move Oddie inside if they had a talented rusher to replace him with. I guess we are trying to get our most talented guys out there though, even if it's a square peg in a round hole. Personally, I think we are better off trading Starks for a decent outside rusher and starting Odrick and Soliai inside with McD and Randall as their backups.
- Great points Arsenal. Now it would be great to welcome you to team Bush in the other thread. :) -
I think the combined receiving yardage and TDs from our RBs and TEs will rival that of our WRs for at least the first part of this season. And that's not an ideal situation. -
Who do you see as the pass rusher who could develop opposite Wake? To my eyes, Vernon looks to have the curse of the Vernons (Gholston) and I doubt he improves enough this season to make a big impact. Maybe next year, though. -
Would like to see the defense as a whole play with more fire and intensity... They all look so flat so far and it's really pissing me off.
I'm watching AZ play Oakland right now and the Cards D is beating Oakland up and down the field... Hard hits, two take aways, and the special teams blocked a punt for a TD. Keep in mind this is with Carson Palmer and Co. Still in the game. Where is this kind of fire with our team.?

From a selfish/personal view, my hopes would be to finally make it over to Miami to take in a game. Almost made the loss to the Colts a couple of years ago, but that fell through at the last minute, so would be nice to go one better this year.
- I'd like to see our RT spot locked down by Martin as tightly as Long has the LT spot. If that happens, and with Pouncey playing centre, we're set for years.
- More takeaways from the defence would be pretty handy.
- Also, what's happened to our pass rush?
-
Your last two points go hand-in-hand. Until we pressure the QB better, there won't be as many bad throws and INTs. I don't see any player on the current roster capable of helping with that (keep in mind, Wake was out last game) so it'll have to be a waiver wire guy after this game, whenever cut downs happen.Cass likes this. -
Where the HELL is the pass rush going to come from?
Because I'm not seeing it from Olivier Vernon at all. Jared Odrick looks really slow off the ball and isn't getting any pass rush from end (as predicted). Jamaal Westerman looks like their most competent rusher outside Wake and he might not even be kept on the 53 man roster. They're down to Koa Misi as a pass rush specialist and if that isn't irony for you, I don't know what is.

I do think it is mental focus. However, it could be one single thing tomorrow that clicks in his head to make him play to his potential. We are just waiting to see. I am hoping the whole 'benching' thing is going to help this process move quicker.
Yes I agree with you about Vernon. I don't see him doing much this year. Which should have be expected considering how raw he was coming out of Miami. I really wanted a WR over him in this spot. Just disagree with the pick from the start. But he has potential. I think Shelby and Westerman will be the two guys to step up in the pass rush department this year. I hope at least. -
Yea at this point, they need to just slide Odrick back inside. He is to good of a player to be playing like he is. -
I'm hoping Clemons and Jones don't **** the bed. The position in general scares the crap out of me.
-
I hope this one player, lets call him Bryan Bannehill, plays fantastic.

We can;t control who the coaches cut, but we can control who we cut. :) -
I'm comfortable with it. If Odrick get's injured, McDaniels steps in. Randall backs up Soliai. That's a decent... no wait, that's a GOOD interior, WITHOUT Starks. Plus we add a pass rusher. -
Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?

In this 43 defense thus far we look very susceptible to sweeps and runs to the outside..
I want to continue to see if Fuller is gonna make this team, he got me perked up in those practices.
I want to see if we go young with hogan and Pruitt make this team.
If Marcus thigpen doesn't make it, then I'm gonna be stumped. -
I would like to see a reciever (or two) step up and a deffensive back to emerge.
-
If Fuller and Tanehill look good, you keep the rookies security blanket to make this easier for him.
The guy most at risk due to this is Roberto Wallace. -
I'd rather keep Slaton than Thigpen. -
That's 7 RBs.
Some bodies hafta hit the floor. -
Bush is a given. Miller was called a first round grade by Ireland so doubt he's tossed aside. Lane is the only hybrid fullback we've used and this staff loves versatility so I expect him to stick.
I think that leaves one spot between Thigpen, Messam, Slaton and Thomas. Two spots maximum. -
I don't see Slaton not making the team either. -
I would like to see atleast one player out of our secondary emerge as a dominant player in the league this season. Seems like Reshad Jones has a great chance to really improve this year, and the same can be said about Sean Smith, and even Vontae Davis. One of the those three should emerge as the leader and alpha dog of that secondary. I think Chris Clemons and Dick Marshall are going to be solid players as well.
