A concept 'Cuda that never saw the light of day.

Nobody else tired of this retro styling craze???

that looks so similar to the Challenger its not even funny. Just put the hole in the hood of the Challenger, slap the 'cuda-shaped air intake in it, and paint the front black.
Voila! Cuda!Mindwarp likes this. -

Ah, God...I loved the 'Cuda. I like this incarnation, but there aren't substantial differences between it and the Challenger.
I do think they should have made the Challenger a lot faster though; if it's going to be reminiscent of a muscle car, which were the fastest non-exotic street cars of their day, they should have brought the available power-to-weight ratio more up to date.
A muscle car back then wasn't very fast by today's standards, and it was made for straight-line speed, inferior to even today's better-handling compacts. -
Guys???
Apparently those who are saying there's not much difference between the 'Cuda concept and the new Challenger don't know much about the 'Cuda/Challenger legacy.
The models in the 70's were basically the same body with different front ends, taillights, and minor trim differences.
The same goes for this. The front end is completely different from the Challenger's, and the taillights are too. Trying to find a pic of them. -

Doesn't matter anyway...my Stang'll dust either one of 'em. ;) -
oh man. that looks sweet!! too bad they aren't going to build both. personally, i LOVE the challenger theyre coming out with, i think it looks awesome

A 425 horsepower car that runs only a tenth of second quicker in 0-60 than a 300 horse, $13K less costing car?
I have solid grounds for saying they should have done the 'Cuda instead. Back in the day, the 'Cuda was the car to have, and the Challenger was like it's little brother. If they were going to go the retro route, wouldn't it serve them better to bring back the car that was the more popular amongst the enthusiasts?
Plus....I had a 'Cuda.
PS - The headlights aren't the same. Challenger has 4 headlights, 'Cuda's got two. Just like the old days. :DLast edited: Mar 26, 2008 -
keep in mind the majority of the people this car is "targeted" towards are those baby boomers who had them or lusted after them when they were kids.... these guys (for the most part) won't be drag racing people on the street, and chances are they will jump on it because either A) they like the styling, or B) they are mopar guys. either way Dodge won't have a problem selling these. -

The name "Hemicuda" was feared. The Challenger, even equipped with the Hemi, wasn't one of the more sought after cars. That's all I'm trying to say. ;)
Didn't have the resources to rebuild her, so I found a deep-pocketed buyer for her, and now she resides on my wife's finger in the form of a 10th Anniversary ring.
