What guts White has. See him take on that head-to-head hit to get that first down? Looks like a concussion. He needs some prayer.

i am having a hard time believing henne is really injured,,,,, he better have some type of legitimate issue cause it just cost pat white big time. it is also costing us the game, we are not competitive at this point. if they put white in to "see him get some real snaps" with a playoff spot still possible, although really really unlikely, it just rubs me the wrong way.

 

You really think Henne benched himself? I'm looking at him in the sidelines with the baseball cap. Neither of his eyes look red. He looks fine.

He'd be out there if this game meant something, but it looks to me like the coaching staff wants to see what the bench can do. Unfortunately, that didn't work out too well or PW. Hope he is OK.

Only if the 3rd QB enters before the 4th QTR. Since Thigpen came in after the 4th, Henne can reenter if the coaching staff wanted him in the game.

 

Sparano said postgame that Henne had blurred vision after a blow to the head. Said he couldn't get it back.

 

And the question is now, do we believe that?

 

I guess the "convenience" of not coming out in the second half is what makes things suspicious more than anything else.

I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. Would appear pretty far fetched by itself.

Why wouldn't we? It's obvious they wanted to win the game, they would have played him if they could... blurred vision after a head hit is likely from a concussion so if that is the case he obviously shouldn't have been playing. The coaches probably weren't aware of it until halftime anyway wasn't that big hit like 2nd to the last play offensively for us before the half?

 

Still smells fishy to me. Those eyes looked fine to me, but I guess he could have had blurred vision if he had his bell wrung. Recently happened to me playing flag football when I caught the ball with my head. Couldn't see anything. But it only lasted about 20 minutes or so.

 

If this game counted for anything, I'm sure they would have found a pair of "glasses".

I don't buy it, but I'm the one who thought benching Henne would be an OK idea. In retrospect, I feel a little guilty after PW took that hit.

 

Henne says blurred vision kept him out. Played about 5 plays with it. Got worse when they sat down at halftime. Said his depth perception was affected very much.

Going to the eye doctor tomorrow.

 

Tried warming up, medical staff told him to stop and wait 5 minutes. Didn't get better.

I think if it was blurred vision we would have seen a shot of him rubbing his eyes, closing them, irregular blinking of some kind, or some kind of gesture that would have tipped us to an "eye injury". He looked fine. Its the last game in the season and your a long shot to get in post season, I think coaching just wanted to see Pat White.

 

Well, as much as I like having my intelligence insulted, the fact is there could have been a lot of reasons...we don't have enough information to say one way or another. It's certainly not unprecedented for coaches to lie about injuries or about why they take players out of the game.

Everyone conspiring that Chad Henne took himself out of the game...chill. He and the coaching staff obviously felt that his blurred vision would not give the Dolphins the best chance to win the game. Looking back at what happened, that didn't seem like the best choice, but it's like saying Wes Welker took himself out today because his knee hurt. It's ridiculous. The loss sucks, but there's no need to call out the players or staff because of it.

Why is it completely out of the picture for the staff to bench Henne for player evaluation and lie about it? They certainly couldn't bench him and tell the truth. That would definitely not go over well with the fans or the media, so they invent an injury.

I'm not saying this is true, but I'm also saying it's certainly not out of the question.

There is key evidence that supports this theory too consisting of Henne showing no signs of errand passes towards the end of the 2nd quarter, no video or replay evidence that we saw on TV of Henne taking a shot to the head or any physical damage to Henne's eye. He also looked totally composed on the sidelines and didn't appear to have any problems reading.

You could also go further with the evidence that it was possibly a made up injury by the injury itself. If you call it a finger, wrist, arm, or leg injury, then the media and fans question Henne's desire and will. And you would have a much harder time proving this type of injury as he showed no symptons of any physical pain at any point in the game. A blow to the head and blurry vision is much harder to question and pinpoint

with the amount of hits henne was taking in this game, i dont think you put in the 2nd QB unless you were conceeding the game to protect henne

and i wouldnt consider it good evaluating to throw the 2nd guy in there against a team getting that much pressure. especially a guy as little as white. didnt a lot of people defend john beck's poor performance on him being pressured too much?

and i wouldnt be bragging about us being a physical team right now. definitely not after the way the steelers pounded us. they knocked our first and second qb's out of the game. thier team is much bigger and much more physical then the dolphins.

they shed tackles left and right. they ran the ball all over us. especially in the final minutes when anyone who could see rothlisberger knew his arm was hurting. (anyone here the CBS announcer? i thought he was gonna go offer big ben a bj after the game or something.) we KNEW they wanted to run the ball on us. their qb looked hurt. they needed to kill the clock. problem is they were 10xs as effective at running the ball in that position then they should have been.

we didnt beat anyone up today. not even ourselves, as we have done so many times this year. today the steelers beat us up. and it hurt.

 

There is no way of proving it but that looked like a manufactured injury
If not the timing sure was ridiculously uncanny

 

I wouldn't blame Henne for that if I were you folks. He did take one heckuva shot by James Farrior just before the half. More importantly, he got right back up and played. All good quarterbacks respond that way.
We lost Big Ben back around week 11 to concussion related headaches and blurred vision, and narrowly lost the next week's game to the Ravens with our #3 (Dennis Dixon) under center. There was all sorts of controversy about it, but the league isn't messing around with head injuries this year. If the doc says he's out, he's out.
I'm sure Henne wanted to play and would've if he could.

Protect that guy. I have a feeling he's gonna be important for you in the coming years. :hi5:

This was the one huge piece of evidence to say that it was a real injury. When you are looking at 2 for 2 in the other games, the Dolphins still had a slim chance at the playoffs with a win.

For some reason though, I can't shake the feeling that it was fabricated. That the staff felt we had no chance and at that point and would just evaluate P. White for next season.

 

1) in my opinion it w/ a contrived event designed to to answer critical questions before the end of the season. there is nothing wrong w/Henne.

2) the Dolphins gave as good as they got & then some against one of the top rated teams in physicality in the NFL today. they were not intimidated, they were not dominated, they played w/ total brutality until the final whistle. ask Rothlisberger how he feels today. ask the coach if he would like to play a second game after this match up. the answers would probably be. don't feel so great today & no, respectively.

3) there was blood in the water & that is how we play. this team is based in brutality & comradery. this is a team that has character & a blueprint as we approach year three of the rebuilding project. I predict we will not only contend in 2010 but be the perennial contenders of the second decade of the 21st. century. It is my expectation that the road to the SuperBowl will pass through Miami for ten years & I am looking forward to laying hands on the BigEnchilada next year.:yes:
